Pulp Fiction Pulp Fiction R
Never before has there been a better crime thriller then Pulp Fiction. But how did this movie come to achieve it's legendary status, you might ask? Well, you start with a good, even a decent storyline. Add some great performances from Travolta and Jackson to mix it up a little. But then what really makes this movie is the fact that it's so mixed up in places, meaning you never know what's coming your way and what's about to happen next. Set presumably in the late eighties/early nineties, Pulp Fiction follows the days in the lives of several different hit men and what they get up to on their travels. John Travolta is the junkie but fabulous Vincent Vega, who's storyline revolves around his boss's wife, Mia Wallace. I think I speak for everyone when I say that the diner dance scene was EFFING BRILLIANT! And still remains to be one of the best moments in film I've ever seen. Samuel L. Jackson does not play much of a big role as John Travolta, but is amazing in what he does here nonetheless. Bruce Willis is also here, his storyline not really involving Vincent Vega (well, not much anyway :x) or Julie (Samuel L Jackson) but mostly around a golden watch he recieved years ago. He has betrayed Marcellus Wallace (Vincent's boss and Mia Wallace's husband) and after he goes back to his appartment after a heated row with his girlfriend to collect his watch, he bumps into Marcellus, when all hell breaks loose. I won't really spoil it for you, this is one movie that you seriously don't want to know the ending of before you watch it. One of the BEST MOVIES EVER, atleast of the thriller genre. Tarantino outdoes himself here, even making a less then perfect cameo appearance, but this movie has everything you could ever want in a movie of it's kind. Pick it up because you'll wish you had done a long time ago when you finally do. After another viewing this is now my favourite movie.
Gone With the Wind Gone With the Wind G
Set in 1860's Southern Times, the civil war is just breaking out and Scarlett O'Hara, a spoiled, stupid little girl's life is turned upside down. She confesses her love to Ashley Wilkes, who is to marry his cousin, Melanie Hamilton. He shoots her down and, angry and upset, she throws an ornament in the room at the wall. After this, Rhett Butler looks up after eavsdropping on Ashley and Scarlett's little conversation and devilers the immortal line: "Has the war started??" I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this movie. Way ahead of it's time, the effects are quite amazing especially the famous "Burning of Atlanta" scene, inwhich Rhett and Scarlett escape Atlanta in a carriage, going past a building which suddenly burns to the ground as they pass by. This is and will always be my favourite movie. Great, ongoing plot, brilliant acting and everything you could want in a movie. This is undoubtebly a story about love, hatred, and defeat. No other movie of the time Gone with the Wind was made even comes close to being as good or compelling. Vivien Leigh is the plucky but beautiful Scarlett O'Hara while Clark "King" Gable stars as the cocky Rhett Butler. It's a match made in heaven--or hell! Nearly seventy years old, but still undoubetly one of the most amazing movies ever to come into existence.
