Ring of Death
by JessDo you consider yourself a real macho guy? a manly man? huh? well I bet you'll like watching this no holds barred bad ass balls to the wall beat em till they bleed action smash up. Its a prison flick about greed and manipulation. Go figure.
Its got a bunch of MMA wannabie or rejects from the imaginary show "So you think you can fight?" The Big boy in this flick is called Da President and hes a big bald angry black man ( Surprise )
yes and he wants to make you his Biotch.
If your wondering what he might look like, go google an image of Bobby Lashley and imagine a lesser version.
Besides him we got your typical, Asian dude, skin head, hey theres even an irish guy this time isnt that nice, then of corse theres the clean cut kind hearted tough guy that wants to get his family back.
Anyway, this movie centers around glorified cage fights between prisoners broadcasted over the internet to entrtain rich folk,(probably Donald Trump )
If your expecting to see fancy moves like a flying roundhouse to the face or a slow mo uppercut, your in for a big dissapointment.
It doesnt even have any sloppy MMA, just a bunch of dudes brawling and bleeding supposedly fighting to the death.
It starts to turn into a skin flick, the likes youd see at 11pm on Cinemax. Like a 3rd rate porn.
Pretty pathetic, but if you enjoy a good sweat and muscle film go ahead and watch, but dont say I never told ya.posted 247 days ago -

Max Payne
by JessI dont know what everyones whining about ok yah so the movie wasnt nearly as impactful as the game. no shhhhhhut yo mouth, but the way I see it, the film was pretty well handled.
It reminded me alot of the game, although i admit im not a big fan, and have never completed the game, I still rather enjoyed the movie.
Your complaining about Mark Wahlberg as Max? who were you expecting Edward Norton? well it could been alot worse they could have chosen Ben Afflack ( hachhu! i mean Benjamin Affleck ) Ok im only kidding, but seriously what have you got against Marky Mark?
Hes been the star of some pretty intense films, and has proven he can do action scenes quite well. So you say its not Mark's fault its the rest of the cast? O'Donnel,Mila Kunnis, Beau Bridges, and Ludacris? Ok that does sound a little rediculous, but i still think it worked out ok.
Sure sure the casting should have been much better, but try to look past that.
It stands up really well as an action thriller with suspense and a little bit of mystery. Its basicaly a cold hearted revenge tale of a good guy gone bitter.
the Special FX arenice and shiny, they look well done and just overall pretty fun to watch.
The story, well considering this is based on a video game, Id say not bad, but I know people are going to think im making excuses for it. Ok look im really trying not to. I honestly had fun watching this, as I do most anything with Mark.
So everyone seems to think they ruined the plot or didnt capture the mood and atmosphere of the game, maybe they can make up for it in the sequel?
Just try to be thankful they even made the film, alot of really great games get over looked. Metal Gear Solid, Ninja Gaiden , Prince of Persia.
Im sure casting for the lead in a game to movie adaptation is hard enough, let alone the supporting cast.
Im lookin forward to Max Payne 2, even if noyone else is.posted 249 days ago -

Come see this movie with me...Hey, you should really see this, in the theatre, and not on the small screen.
X-Men Origins - Wolverine
by JessJames was once a boy,but that was a long long time ago. Now he goes by the name Logan. He has suffered more pain than any man has ever endured. Been through hell and back many times, and inside he still hurts, but how'd he get there? And where did it all go wrong? Im glad you asked.
Straight from the pages of Marvel comics comes the latest installation of a film based entirely on the origins of the widely popular and highly fan favored character Wolverine.
Played by the renown actor, and supposed world?s sexiest man Hugh Jackman; this is the fourth time Wolverine has appeared on the big screen, but this time the spotlight is on one man, and he owns it.
Even though the film bares the name X-men in the title don't expect to see a lot of familiar faces. This story goes much farther back and predates the team by a century or more.
Have you ever found yourself wondering, or caught up in a conversation about just how did Wolverine get those shiny metal claws? Or perhaps you were the odd man out because you didn't have a clue. Well its about time for you to see for yourself.
In this flick Marvel reveals to the mainstream, a lot of the mysteries behind the man with the metal. He was once a soldier, make that 4 or 5 times a soldier. He was once a son, a brother, a best friend, a lover, an honest hardworking man, but still theres more ( and not just underneath the skin )
Maybe you do know about his mutenagenic healing factor, which partially explains why he's impervious to old age, but chances are you don't know about his involvement in the CIA.
The story leaves a lot of the details out forcing you to assume, and play a little game of fill in the blank.
Wolverine is a movie about love, trust, and betrayal but mostlyt about blood thirsty revenge.
Its also a movie without highs and lows, its all pretty much straightforward. The whole way through its anxiety driven, blood for blood. It seems to focus on the concept of war.
It hardly gives you a chance to feel anything else, even at its would be saddest moments. What good is a movie that only makes you feel one emotion?
The pace that it moves from scene to scene leaves you feeling empty and conflicted.
As far as the action goes, theres certainly plenty of it. Everyone seems to jump on board like a wrestling free for all. Fighting, hatred, rage, and killing is what this movie is all about. Not very flashy or stylistic to say the least. You wont see any elaborate costumes or really dazzling special effects, just a whole lotta SLASH and BASH, almost what you'd expect from a $2 comic book, isn't it ironic?
Theres nothing at all subtle or poetic about this, but does anyone care? After all its Wolverine not Shakespeare, but it turns out it really does matter, as movie goers seem to be less than thrilled with the this release.
How is it that Wolverine's back-story can be so rich and intricate, ( There's been literally novel upon novel written about him), yet when it comes to the plot, it seems to be the one thing they left out? I say left out because I have to wonder that maybe they did it on purpose so that audiences wouldn't be bored with the lack of action, but it seems to have had the reverse effect. It's like making a dinner and only serving dessert, or making a pie without the crust. Whatever you compare it to, something is definitely missing. Sad that such a fantastic character gets treated this way.
Many Marvel mainstays and personalities make their debut here, but characters are rarely referred to as their codename, although you have quite the rundown featuring Gambit, Sabbertooth, Kestrel, Maverick, Bolt, the Blob, Silver Fox, Cyclops, Deadpool, White Queen and a few unmentionables.
Hey not bad, but none of them truly leave much of an impression other than being flat, except for the Blob. He's more round, yet still somehow seems 1 dimensional. ( Does he really even belong in this story? Whose idea was this? My only guess is that the producers wanted to use him instead of Mastodon who is a lot less famous, but fans should know Blob doesn't belong.)
Near the end of the film everything is such a mess, all the characters are scattered and so is whats left of the plot. You've practically stopped caring seeing as how Wolverine is practically invincible but he has already been defeated emotionally.
This movie is 99% action and 1% drama, and just like the ending of any 12 - 25 page comic book you'll ever read it has no real conclusion, and the ending is just the beginning of more strange things or chaos. Still its Wolverine, its intense, its got box office appeal and you know you want to see it.posted 259 days ago -

HULK VS.
by JessLadies and Gentlemen, well ok who are we fooling? Let me start over.
Gentlemen, the moment you?ve been waiting for.Geeks, Nerds, Dweebs, Super fans, and the like gather round for this could be the most significant event of your would be life.....or not.
For years you?ve been wasting your life debating in chat rooms, forums, and hidden underground member only cults, as to the outcome of this event.
It?s been the Hot Topic of many a lonely Saturday night in front of the keyboard.
So now are you prepared to spend the next 3 weeks ranting and raving about how the video wasn?t true to its source material?
Alright enough with the stereotypes, after all I'm only exaggerating. Who doesn?t love a good fight huh? And this is not 1 but 2 battles of epic proportions.
In 1 corner we have HULK, the green Behemoth, the Jade Juggernaut, The Jolly Green Giant, ok scratch that.
Perhaps Marvel's numba 1 dude, the big boy of beat downs, the Friggin Hulk is gonna go toe to toe with The mighty god of Thunder, Thor, and perhaps the most badass character ever created the legend himself, Wolverine !
Oh no doubt this is gonna rock, am I right?
Not necessarily.
Marvel has a habit of really toning down the violence and dumbing up the plot so that the kiddies will like it, and the parents won?t get upset. After all it?s a cartoon right? Not meant to entertain anyway over the age of 6. Unfortunately it seems like that has been Marvel?s logic on the majority of their projects.
Older fans that grew up reading about their heroes are totally getting the shaft. Well maybe that?s not quite true. This release I?m glad to say isn?t the same as what you can expect to see on a Saturday morning show. Its got flair and tenacity, some pretty intense action scenes that almost go the distance. It actually gets kinda brutal.
Let?s face it, if you rented this or bought it, that?s what you wanted, to see some serious butt kicking, and head stomping, and you won?t be too disappointed.
The Hulk v Thor delivers that, it has quite a lengthy scene of just brawling and fists to the face. At one point Thor even looks like he?s on the verge of death.
This will give you fan boys, and extremely rare fan girls something to shout about as you root for your favorite or watch in horror as your hero gets pummeled.
Marvel has done a decent job this time and makes a budget title that still appeals to an age group of 14 and up. Hey not bad.
Despite the fact that Marvel has already done these encounters numerous times through out the pages of their comics, it still remains fresh and inspired. at least in my opinion.
Of course the fighting doesn?t really resolve anything, you can?t expect marvel to actually prove this guy is better than that guy, of course not, and why would they? Not now not ever, they?d much rather leave that up to the fans, who will continue to buy their books.
It really doesn?t benefit Marvel to give the 1up to either or, I?m sure they are aware of the backlash they would receive from fans. So even though we don?t get to determine who wins the war...lets just say that fans of the Hulk, ( who is clearly the star and focus of this feature ) will have a reason to smile.
Sure it coulda been bigger or better, and the design doesnt nearly compare to most the artwork in the comics, but
this is a fun flick enjoy it for what it is, an action superhero cartoon, with smooth animation, and characters we all love.
You dont have to be a nerd,a geek or a child to like this, Superheros are fun for everybody, and everybody needs a hero.posted 261 days ago -

Sin City
by JessWith a name like Sin City,I think you know what to expect. This aint a walk in the park to say the least.
Prepare yourself cuz where youre goin there aint no comin back.
Sin City is a place where crime, violence, sex, and drugs rule the streets.
Not for the squeamish, this movie takes the graphic from graphic novel and brings it to life. So keep the kids away, this one puts batman to shame, actualy its more like Dick Tracy's worst nightmare times 10.
Its darker than most any action movie you've ever seen and littered with mature dialouge and adult situations.
Frank Miller's original work is given the grand treatment and kept in style of his universe using the extreme conrast of absolute black and white with the occasional splash of red for flavor.
You might say its the ultimate fanboy service as the characters and events from the novel are portrayed in great detail with the help of a truely all star cast.
Divded into 3 stories, each one of them tells a different tale of revenge, leaving behind it a stock pile of dead bodies.
For those of you that prefer your fiction with a heavy helping of Doom and Gloom, you will certainly get your fill.
Theres truck loads of action and bravado, not to mention the guts and glory.
If guns, hookers, and fist fights are your thing, Sin City is to die for, otherwise, repent now and save yourself.posted 269 days ago -

Far Cry
by JessThis was very poorly executed.
A game to movie title that once again thanks to director Uwe Boll was misrepresented and disgraced.
Hey look at that, they managed to get the logo exactly right, and the box cover looks pretty cool, almost enough to make you want to see it right?
Well dont , because its awful. A real stinker.
Imagine if you will, fully grown men in army suits with their skin painted grey running around getting shot in the eyeball. The excuse is that theyre geneticaly altered super zombies that can only die when shot in the eye. Yah right.
Granted,Til Schweiger is trying to make a name for himself as an action star, but this is defiently not the way to go. Talk about low budget.
This is solid gold proof that explosions and guns dont make a good movie.
How about an action hero that goes around askin, Hey was I good in bed? was I? how good was I? get over yourself.
Far Cry , yeah it sure was a Far Cry from anything remotely enjoyable.posted 276 days ago -
