The Dark Knight
PG-13
Wow!! Go See This ASAP!!!!
I have seen most of the big movies this summer, which really has been a great summer. But 'The Dark Knight' has been the film that I have most anticipated, really ever since it was announced and the first info started showing up. I bought my midnight IMAX tickets about a month ahead of time and it was a good thing I did because they were sold out pretty soon afterwards. At 12:05am I witnessed one of the greatest comic-book based films ever, quite possibly the greatest. I need to see it again before I can say that.
The film starts shocking and explosive and doesn't stop until the credits begin to roll. The cast is perfect all around. The story is amazing, very intense and disturbing at times but amazing. The images shown on screen accompanied by the terrific musical score created a constant spine-tingling sensation in me that lasted the entire film. By the way, the soundtrack is truly worth owning in its own right.
Bale is again great as Batman, Eckhart is great as D.A. Harvey (Two-Face) Dent, and as I said before the rest of the cast are also great. I was constantly looking for signs of Heath Ledger in his portrayal of The Joker, but he wasn't there. He was so into his character that it's the one of most complete characters I've ever seen, and becomes one of the greatest movie villains ever.
If I could give this film a higher rating than 5 stars I would. This is not only a great sequel to the also great 'Batman Begins'. It is truly a great film by itself.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2)
PG-13
Well... not as enjoyable as the first one but not that bad. I was a little creeped out by young Hellboy who looked like a red-horned-WHO from one of those Dr. Seuss live action films. Thankfully he is not on screen for to long. Anyway... the film is kinda slow and drags for a little too long. All of the Pans Labyrinth -like creatures although impressive got a little on my nerves. Ron Pearlman is great as Hellboy. Overall there just wasn't much... here.
Hancock
PG-13
I really wasn't sure what to expect from Hancock. It seemed like it wanted to be a comedy but towards the end tries to become a pretty rough drama. The comedy was pretty funny, though there isn't much new material that most haven't seen in previews. A little-bit predictable storyline. Will Smith still delivers excitement, but it is Jason Bateman really stands out. In the end I probably should have waited to see this at a dollar movie theatre.
Wanted
R
This was very intense throughout. Many awesome action scenes that are very "Matrix-like". I was surprised at how well James McAvoy portrayed an action star. Fast-paced story, though I am still not sure about the whole textile workers and that Loom thing foretelling the assignation targets. It was hilarious to see Morgan Freeman as such a bad ass, especially after the line "Somebody kill this mother-f@#%$#. A very surprising ending that I didn't see coming.
WALL-E
G
I had been anticipating this movie for awhile. 'Wall-E' was stunning. Another masterpiece from Disney and PIXAR. The animation is amazing and that was enough for me, but I got a great story as well that should make a lot of people look at how we live our lives and what we could become. Amazing visually.
You will be amazed at how the people at PIXAR can convey so much emotion in a little CGI robot with very little dialog. Much less hundreds of other robots. This is reachable by children and adults. I haven't heard so many people laughing equally at the same jokes.
This is now one of my favs. I think there is something for everyone to enjoy in this film.
Get Smart
PG-13
'Get Smart' was the movie that I wanted to see instead of the crap known as 'The Love Guru'. But a week later I finally saw it and more fully realized the mistake I had made the weekend before. 'Get Smart' is the obviously superior film and comedy and Steve Carell the superior actor.
This movie was hysterical but somewhat predictable. Great mix of comedy and action. Great acting all around. Plus having the gorgeous Anne Hathaway to look at doesn't hurt. Overall very enjoyable and in my opinion people should skip 'The Love Guru' and see this instead.

Iron Man
PG-13
This is one of the best comic adaptations yet. This should easily get $100 million plus opening. It has just about everything. Great acting, great story, lots of action and humor. The story does a great job of introducing the character of Tony Stark/ Iron Man for those of us who aren't quite familiar with this superhero as we are of Spiderman, Batman and Superman. I think I watched the old cartoon of Iron Man in the mid 90's but really didn't know much of the character. Now after seeing this movie I wonder why I was unaware of how cool Iron Man was. Robert Downey Jr. really does a great job as the genius billionaire and 'IS' Tony Stark. I can't envision anyone else as this guy now. The technology this guy has at his disposal aside from his Iron Man suit is amazing. There is so much going on in this film visually that I am definitely going to have to see this again soon. Some of the best lines in the film are from Downey talking to his robot assistants, especially the one when he threatens one of the robots that he is going to donate it to a community college. There is no doubt in my mind that this has sequel written all over it and I look forward to continuing in the world of Iron Man. There is a lot of potential for the series. The first must see blockbuster of the summer that includes previews of two upcoming blockbusters in Indiana Jones and The Dark Knight (the Batman sequel). Both of which look awesome!!!!! GO SEE!!!!!

Across the Universe
PG-13
Across The Universe was one of the best movies I have seen this year. A visual masterpiece. All of the classic Beatles songs worked perfectly in this movie. I really liked the way all of the songs were remade. I recently bought the soundtrack which although good, I was disappointed after seeing that the CD was missing some of the great songs in the movie. The inclusion of the songs "REVOLUTION","WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS", and "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE" which are in the movie would have made the CD a lot better. Beautiful movie.
5.
Juno
PG-13
Juno was funny, smart, and at times sad. Ellen Page delivers absolutely wonderful acting as Juno, a 16yr old girl who gets pregnant and ultimately decides that she will give the baby up to a young couple played by 'Bateman' and 'Garner' once the child is born. In her naive innocence realizes that love and life aren't the way she pictured it. Michael Cera, who has been fun to watch since Arrested Development, continues his great acting roles in Juno, where he plays an uncomfortable, sweet, and funny teen that gets his friend Juno pregnant. Clever little story about life and teen pregnancy with an ending that is both sad and uplifting, and no the baby doesn't die. GO SEE!!
