Where the Wild Things Are
PG
I think the biggest disapointment was that it wan't as great as I thought and anticipated it to be. That's not to say it wasn't good; truthfully, it had some truly amazing and wonderful moments! Some truly spellbinding and eye-candy moments! I think the art direction is amazing and a shoe in for the Oscars! Likewise- the puppets (they were created by Jim Henson's people afterall) are so realistic- I thought they would look fake! They don't! As well, considering it was a very, very short picture book- this is a very, very well written piece! The psycology, the depth of the characters! You could wirite a paper on it! The war scene alone could be a paper! The child logic, the feelings, the foils! It was wonderful. The actors playing the parts and the voices are so spot on perfect! They were great! But then the downside: the story as well is clearly for a Spike Jonze film: its odd, its slightly mobbid and at times not child apropriate. As well the depth may have been more adult than child. And in general, it was a little too odd, a little too strange. It answers the question could the avant-gaurde or the indi become a children's genre- it can; this is it. But it still remains too indi for me. As well, it retains that odd indi soundtrack that sometimes works and sometimes dosen't. It works here, but remains indi. For me, while a good film, a great film in some aspects, as a whole it isn't a great film. But visually and psychologically excellent!

This only won one Oscar why?! And for writing no less! Agreed, this is a VERY well written script- maybe not now, but when it was first made, this was new and very odd! Either way I liked it! And the visuals! OMG! The cinematography was AMAZING! The man was robbed of an Oscar! ROBBED!!! Very well acted! Dorothy Comingore never got an Oscar nomination why?! Lots of robbery here! Either way, a classic and clearly why! Everything is near perfect and very, VERY modern!

I love this movie! It has to be my favorite Julia Robert's movie and one of her best movies ever! Plus the supporting cast is great, and the soundtrack is great too!

I loved this movie. One of my favorites and Renee Zelweger's best. She is hilarious! Clearly this is a movie me and Alyson disagree on! How do I LOVE thee? Let me count the ways. One one thousand, two one thousand...
