The Beach The Beach R
A so-so flick that was very predictable.
Avatar Avatar PG-13
Sounds like a great story and looks amazing but CGI and action are not what should carry a movie, ergo Star Wars ep. 1-3 for example.

Story and dialog are above all.
CGI and action should only be there as supplement.

I'm hoping that's the case with this one and I shouldn't worry too much as James Cameron proved this with Terminator 2.

Immortal's Favorite Movies

Alien Alien R
Hands down the best Sci-Fi horror film ever! H.R. Giger is a genius. Dan O'Bannon writes some damn good stuff. Ridley Scott's best work IMO. I would love to see these three do something together again. I think (nowadays) people take for granted what is presented to them in these types of movies. "Just give me a bunch of CGI and non-stop action, the story....meh...just give me action!" Mush-head mentality! When this came out, it was an awakening to what kind of artistic talent and immagination was really out there.
Blade Runner Blade Runner R
One of the greatest science fiction movies ever. Had a very Heavy Metal Magazine feel to it. Most people don't get this movie but if you sit and listen to what is going on you'll like it better. Life in THIS future is a luxury. Read the book it was based on. The settings of this movie didn't have a cookie cutter look of the future like most movies of this type. Very dirty, stripped down and in some cases completely retro. A dystopian future for sake of argument. The only thing that I questioned in this film is the fact that Los Angeles was overrun with Asian people and not Mexicans. *scratches head*
