About Me
I've loved movies all my life and enjoy sharing my love of them with my children and my friends.

I've noticed that I'm a lot tougher on my ratings that some are on here. I guessI'm a movie critic at heart. When the story, photography, lighting, special effects, acting, direction, set design all line up to create a great movie like The Godfather or Citizen Kane or when it touches me on a viseral level like Star Wars: A New Hope, I will give it five stars. No brainer!

I love movies made from comics. I'm an old fan-boy here. But when it sucks the life out of the original material like the first Fantastic Four movie, I'll say so. It doesn't mean I won't watch it again, heck I own it. LOL!

I do hate re-makes for no reason. I liked the new Dawn of the Dead, but saw the original at a drive-in as a teen. Scared me Sh**less! Plus I like the low budget and the look of it. The new version was too clean. If that makes any sense. I liked the new King Kong, but came to love movies after watching the original with my Aunt when I was 9. Physco is a perfect example. There is NOT one wasted frame in the original movie. It's as nearly perfect as a film can be, yet it was not only re-made, it was re-made frame for frame as Hitchcock shot it!! The violence was amped up I guess to apeal to modern audiences, but the utter suspense of the original beats ANY horror movie ever made, period.

So just some thoughts as to why my ratings are sometimes not so high. I can rate a movie with two stars and still watch it with a friend or catch it on TV some week-end.

The Godfather 1. The Godfather R 5.0 Stars
One of the best american movies ever made, period! Now, leave the gun, but take the cannolies.
The Matrix 2. The Matrix R 5.0 Stars
The Matrix was the most exciting, stimulating, visually inventive action movie of the late ?90s.
Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) 3. Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) PG 5.0 Stars
it?s a well-crafted story of an immensely likeable hero involved in his Earth-shatteringly important race to find the all-powerful Ark, and it?s an engaging, adventurous tale that holds up well.
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope 4. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope PG 5.0 Stars
Ok, the story is corny and the acting is sometimes wooden. But it was supposed to be!! A modern day adaptation of old-time serialized movies, a salute to Joseph Cambell's "The Power of Myth" and just plain fun. From the moment that huge imperial cruiser kept passing on screen in the opening shot, I was aware, for the first time the power that a movie can have. It instilled the life-long love of movies and was my gate-way drug to all things movies! Thank you George! (Now about those pre-quils...)
