Greetings and welcome to my Flixster profile page! I am KJ, an avid movie watcher who just happens to be married to Moe E. We visit the cinema on occasion but most often watch movies on Blu-ray or DVD. HDTV, Blu-ray and surround sound make the home theater an awesome viewing experience. I highly recommend any avid movie watcher upgrade to Blu-ray for the best in movie viewing. If you enjoy movies and Flixster, by all means drop me a line and a friend request. Traitor Traitor PG-13 3.5 Stars
A decent espionage thriller with the focus on terrorism. Entertaining film with a bit of a different plot than most being offered. Cheadle, Pearce and Taghamoui portray their characters in outstanding fashion.
The X-Files: I Want to Believe (The X Files 2) The X-Files: I Want to Believe (The X Files 2) PG-13 3.0 Stars
Hmmm... Well it wasn't bad, but it was not really good. Fails as a thriller and the acting was average. Overall, the plot was workable though slow. The film feels more like a made for TV movie than a cinema film.
Love Actually Love Actually R 4.0 Stars
A very entertaining romantic comedy/drama which grasps the very soul of love in many different situations. With 'normal' to 'quirky' characters, this film is full of laughs, as well as some very touching moments. The mix of great writing and a stellar cast make Love Actually work nicely on all levels.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen PG-13 3.5 Stars
This time around Michael Bay gives us plenty of explosions, average CGI and a decent plot buried beneath hot shots of Megan Fox and many sexual one liners. There is very, very little character development and the affection one felt for the autobots first time around is not built upon. Though the film is enjoyable and brings quite a few hilarious moments (dependent upon ones sense of humor), it lacks the emotional connection and 'cuteness' which was so audience friendly in the first one.
Resident Evil: Extinction Resident Evil: Extinction R 3.5 Stars
Installment three of Resident Evil doesn't fail to deliver the action and pure entertainment of the first two. The film had me right where installment two carried me (hooked) until about two-thirds through. Without giving details, let's just say, this sci-fi took an evil turn that didn't impress. The ending once more left me wanting more.

The best mini-series since Band of Brothers

Based upon the book written by embedded Rolling Stones reporter Evan Wright, Generation Kill follows !st Recon Marines during the first wave of the USA led assault on Iraq in 2003. The 7 episode series is awesome from beginning to end. The script, direction, action, cinematography and acting are flawless. The story is enlightening, entertaining and saddening. The manor in which the actors bring the Marines of 1st recon to life is heart wrenching. A must see film.....

The Dark Knight 1. The Dark Knight PG-13 5.0 Stars
Once upon a time, Batman Begins was my all time favorite Batman movie. Not anymore... Enter The Dark Knight----PHENOMENAL!!!

It is rare that a much hyped film lives up to or surpasses that hype. TDK more than equals all the hype presented months leading up to its release. With much anticipation and high expectations, this film delivered all I wanted and more.

Plot details are best left for viewing, but if you truly listen to the dialogue in TDK, you will understand that from a comic book genre film, a masterpiece has arisen. Christopher Nolan has perfected the art of putting the comic book on screen. Jonathan Nolan has written a script which knows no boundaries.

Christian Bale is Batman. Bale captures Batman/Bruce Wayne in a way no actor before him ever could. Oldham, Morgan, and Caine reprise their respective roles from Batman Begins and add great flavor to the film. Eckhart shines as Harvey Dent and Gyllenhall is a nice replacement as Rachel Dawes. The chemistry between all the actors help Nolan create a world which works beautifully.

Heath Ledger- the Joker...WOW ... mere words cannot describe what Ledger brought to this character. The level to which Ledger took the Joker is almost incomprehensible. No comparison to those who have played the role before as it would be like comparing apples to oranges. Ledger owns the Joker, and most likely no one will ever take that ownership away. Anyone would be foolish to even attempt. Ledger's performance alone is enough reason for anyone to see this film. Will he receive an Oscar nod? He should for this is one of the most brilliant roles ever portrayed on screen.

The plot, the acting, the directing, and the cinematography are blended seamlessly in TDK. The film is easily the best film of 2008 to date. The action and drama, the darkness of the film itself all make this much, much more than a comic book adaptation. This is the must see film of the decade.

Black Hawk Down 2. Black Hawk Down R 5.0 Stars
Just knowing this is a true story is enough. You can't help but feel the anguish of the troops as they fight for survival in Somalia. You'll cry and cheer as the survivors make their way out.... Considering the length of the book, this is a great adaptation. This is most likely the best Josh Harnett film available.

Ed Norton's best! A powerful story told beautifully about a young man whose journey into and out of the Neo-Nazi movement grabs hold of the viewer and doesn't let go. Be warned- there is no happy ending to this film. One of the best films ever made.....
Northfork 5. Northfork PG-13 5.0 Stars
One of the most visually beautiful movies I have ever seen. The cast could not have been better selected. The Polish brothers (Michael & Mark) have written the gem of the century with Northfork. The movie is filled with symbolism and some of the most delightful dialogue ever filmed. This is a must see for any true movie buff. For others, it may not impress. Watch with an open mind and an open heart...
In Bruges 6. In Bruges R 4.5 Stars
Irish playwright Martin McDonagh has written and directed a brilliant film. Kudos to Mr. McDonagh for his most unique story. The mood and contrast between the lead characters (superbly portrayed by Farrell and Gleeson) worked on so many levels, and you can't walk away from this film without caring for them. The humor, the sensitivity, and the moral complexity of this film weave together to make an almost perfect drama/comedy. The Bruges setting is shot fabulously for the storyline. This first film from Martin McDonagh is impressive in the extreme. In Bruges may truly be my favorite black comedy of all time.

    HULK VS. HULK VS.

This animated film is broken into two parts. Part One is Hulk Vs Wolverine. The film shows Wolverine in his days before the X-Men with the Canadian Goverment/Department H. He is sent in to take down the Hulk who has crossed into Canada. This leads to a great fight and also a show down with his past weapon X days. A great story with tons of action. Part Two deals with Hulk Vs Thor. Bruce Banner is captured by Loki who uses him as his pawn to kill Thor and to rule Asgard. This leads to a giant battle between Thor and Hulk. Some great action and battle scenes. Plus a great story. Well done. Part One and Part Two each of different styles of visual animation. But they were all great. Very well done. This is a film for hardcore Hulk, Wolverine and Thor fans. Plus tons of other Marvel comic characters who make cameos in this as heroes and villains. These two stories are quite violent and are not intended for young children. Overall a great animated film for Marvel comic book fans.

This is a interesting film. Basically about a husband, wife and their teenage daughther. The mother dies in a car accident and her spirit/soul has taken over her daughter's body. The film has strong acting from David Duchovny and Olivia Thirlby. The story is odd at times but also very interesting. The husband and the mother trapped in her daughter's body learn many things about their daughter's life. The film overall was a neat idea and done well. Worth a one time watch.

This is a suspenseful story, part science fiction, part thriller, which will challenge viewers to decide what they believe in the aforementioned debate. And unlike the sensation we find in some suspense stories, viewers won't have to suspend much belief to go along for the ride. John's journey happens step be step, each event happening in perfectly logical order. Is John creating his own story or is he just following the steps laid out for him long ago?

I enjoyed the movie all the way right up until they made it a bit too unrealistic at the end. Once you've seen it you'll know what I'm talking about...it was an interesting mix of both hope and loss.
The disaster scenes were grisly and disturbing. Cage did a great job of post-traumatic shock that was played just right.

One of the strongest experience I had by seeing a war film.
I absolutely love this movie because it shows us how much these men go through to try and make the world a better place.
This movie so realistically captures the two different styles of war (USA and Somalia); one being incredibly organized and technically superior, and the other being disorganized but fighting with reckless abandon. The gunfire-scenes are amazing as are the injuries and the treatment of them.
It wasn't may be that massacre that in Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan was, but some shots are rather disgusting.
A must-see for anyone thinking war is glorious.

This movie had a very strong script that felt very honest & humble, and what I mean by that is, it didn't need/rely on any extravagant twists/turns in order for it be interesting and suspenseful. It managed to intrigue and excite with a single plot.
The performance given by the actors in this film is what gives it the extra quality that makes it an especially good and entertaining movie. They all live up to their names/status and deliver solid performances that remind us why they're A-list actors. It's also worth mentioning that the supporting actors/actresses are equally impressive.
In conclusion, this was a great movie and I highly recommend it to everyone, especially action/drama fans.
Buuut it's not a classic like Serpico.

Decent historical crime drama about John Dillinger and the efforts of J. Edgar Hoover's developing FBI to stop him. Classy production design beautifully recreating the 1930s is undermined by a less than compelling plot. It ultimately builds to an interesting climax, but most the action before that is rather spiritless. Unquestionably an improvement over Michael Mann's last film Miami Vice. Also of note is actress Marion Cotillard as Dillinger's girlfriend Billie Frechette.

The Great Silence (Il Grande silenzio) The Great Silence (Il Grande silenzio)
    4.5 Stars by Bruce
The Great Silence aka : Il grande silenzio Made in 1968 A Spaghetti Western Directed by Sergio Corbucci . Thus is the second movie I have watch made by Corbucci, first being Companeros. Both are excellent movies for a Saturday Night. In the Great Silence we have Jean-Louis Trintignant who plays Silence a mute gun slinger who is hired by Pauline (Vonetta McGee) a very beautiful lady. At on point Pauline and Silence develops a interracial romance, a relationship seldom seen in Westerns, Italian or Western back in the day, this added to the final scene with Pauline has the making of something well hidden over the years in the US Theater. Klaus Kinski who plays the very bad guy named Loco (its always keen how Italian Directors think up such cool name for Bad Guys). The ending of this film is like no other Spaghetti Western and I will not give it away. This is one that is unique and a must see. 4 1/2 stars the highest I have given to an Italian Western.
The ending is what makes this really good, and the movie itself is a excellent italian Western

    Ciao
