I WAS SUPRIZED TO FIND THAT I REALLY LOVED THIS MOVIE IT WAS PURE FUN AND WELL WORTH THE WATCH.
A GREAT TALE FOR YOUNG AND OLD IT HAS BEEN SO LONG SINCE I WATCHED A DISNEY FILM AND THIS ONE MADE ME FEEL THAT DISNEY MAGIC AGAIN. A TRUE JOY.
DON'T MISS OUT ON SEEING IT IN THEATRE
Hancock Hancock PG-13 3.5 Stars
HANCOCK WAS A GOOD MOVIE WHICH I TRULY ENJOYED. THERE WAS NOT A LOT OF CONTENT TO IT BUT WHAT THERE WAS HELD ON TO BE ENJOYABLE THROUGHOUT. AN INTERESTING TALE WHICH WOULD BE MADE BETTER BY A SEQUEL WITH MORE DEPTH TO IT SO THAT THIS ONE COULD BE CHALKED UP AS AN ORIGIN STORY. THOUGH IT LEFT ME WANTING MORE IT HAD ITS MOMENTS.

So I had planned to see this on my birthday and when I went to buy tickets a week before, I shouldn't have been surprised that it was sold out! I had to see it on Imax, which by the way you should too cause it's awesome! So I had to wait a day later but I will say it again, it was worth the wait!
I definitely think it was in the same realm as Batman Begins, but that movie was just the beginning.
I have to disagree with all the critics that say that the only reason why so many people saw it was because of Heath Ledger's untimely death. Do they not know we have been talking about this movie for over a year now? Don't they know how excited we were with each new poster and how much we died to see a new glimpse of the movie???
The Joker was great! He did an excellent job. Totally different from how Jack Nickleson portrayed him, a lot darker, and that was perfect!
Christian Bale is still my favorite pick for Batman. I have to admit though when I first heard him speak, I giggled. It sounded so funny to how Bruce Wayne talked.
Kudos to Christopher Nolan for doing such a great job and I'm excited to see what happens next.
I heard that Two Face looked horrible but when I saw him for the first time, I loved it! I don't know why but that whole skeleton look really did it for me. I wish we could have seen more.
If you waited and talked about this movie as long as I did, I don't think you will be disappointed. Actually, the only disappointment you'll feel is when Batman is driving away and you realize the movie may be finished. I was disappointed that when me and a few others stayed until the credits were done, there wasn't anything there. Wish someone (and I think he knows who he is) would have written his review already!
So what are you waiting for?! Go see this on Imax!
i don't know who, what, where, when the watchmen are, is but the trailer looked cool! :)

Well...there's another trailer out...and I have mixed feelings about it...

You ever hear of a movie that, conceptually, sounds great (creative director, great source material, well-rounded cast), and then after finally seeing a trailer, you start getting that nagging feeling in the back of your mind that it'll more than likely be shitty?

And yet, despite that feeling, you'll still see the movie in theaters because you WANT it to be good, even if it'll more than likely be shitty?

That's how I'm currently feeling about The Spirit. Yeah, the movie looks pretty, just like Sin City and 300 were, and Frank Miller was good friends with Will Eisner, and yadda yadda yadda. I still think this'll be crap. I WANT it to be good, I REALLY want it to be good, but it'll probably be crap.

    We'll see, though...
I'm starting to look forward to this film less and less. I may not be as familiar with Will Eisner's comic series as I probably should be, but comparing what little I've read of the comic to what little of the movie Frank Miller's spliced together into a trailer...

It just doesn't seem right. It seems...I dunno...a little too serious? A little too "hard-boiled", I suppose. My fingers are crossed (hence, the "want to see it"), but my guess is that the end result will have Eisner rolling in his grave.

I've seen enough horror remakes to recognize a bad one from a good one at first glance.

The trailer that played before Hellboy II makes this look like a bad one.
Any of you guys see [Rec]? If so, what'd you think of it?

Set in Shanghai during the 30's, this film has a formulaic and yet stylish storyline with themes of brotherhood, love and betrayal at it's core. You can see influences from SCARFACE, THE GODFATHER and John Woo films especially his classic film BULLET TO THE HEAD. A great gangster piece with plenty of heroic bloodshed!!

This is Colin Firth like you've never seen him before! If you are used to Mr. Darcy, then you will be as surprised as I was to see him in this role. He was excellent!
He is just weird as Adrian LeDuc who rents a room to Jack Carney, played by Hart Bochner. The story unfolds as a killer is on the loose and Adrian is dealing with the deterioration of his ailing mother. He just keeps getting weirder and weirder and I blame his nosy neighbors, who are also weird in their own right.
I didn't expect the movie to end as it did but when you think about it, it all makes sense.
My mom recommended this movie to me when we were in Buenos Aires, since that is where the movie takes place. Didn't recognize any of the sites, but it was well worth a watch.
On Flixster, the more like this shows American Psycho but I had to give it a thumbs down since I don't agree! Watch it and let me know what you think!

A wonderful film about bringing a community together through the power of our much beloved medium, film! Necessity is truly the mother of invention and this movie proves it! Mos Def's performance is great as the reluctant leader and straightman while Jack Black's is eccentric, funny, weird and endearing! I really enjoyed this movie not only for it's ardent message but for it's originality. Don't expect another Jack Black romp but look forward to what I like to call a "dramedy" with spunk!!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and gals, the summer movie season has officially kicked into overdrive! A couple theatre pals and I went to a matinee of this, and all in the party thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

First things first, lets talk about the cast. It's an impressive lineup, and all involved were great. James McAvoy plays Wes Gibson, the lead character (don't let the poster mislead you), and he makes him a character the audience can relate to, which is hard to do in films like this.** Angelina Jolie is also wonderful as Fox, Wes's mentor in the art of assassination. She plays her like a stern motherly figure, and doesn't overstay her welcome. And for the handful of you who haven't seen A Mighty Heart and doubt her acting chops, she conveys with only expressions in this film what lesser actors and actresses can only convincingly convey through words. As for Morgan Freeman...well, without giving anything away, let's just say you've never seen him like this before.

And when I say "give anything away", I say that with a tad bit of sarcasm. There is a plot here, and while it's not thrown in as an afterthought like the occasional Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle, it's still fairly predictable. The plot does present a moral quandary halfway through, which I like, but it's thrown out the window thanks to a gimmicky ending that sends mixed messages.

But to make up for the kind of plot we've seen before, director Timur Bekmambetov (try saying THAT five times fast!) serves up some tasty action scenes that we most definitely haven't. They have to be taken with a grain of salt (which is the reason why I didn't take my father to see it), but if one can suspend their disbelief enough to believe that bullets can curve and people can cascade through two windows at a high velocity and remain unscathed, then they'll be treated to a dazzling ballet that makes all the shootouts in every action film they've seen before look amateurish by comparison.

This, ladies and gents, is an action movie with a capital 'A', and if you're looking for perfect counter-programming to lighter fare like Wall-E, you couldn't ask for a better movie.

**On a side note, one of my friends didn't like James McAvoy in the role he played. Said friend thought he gave a good performance, but would've preferred either Ewan McGregor or Ben Barnes in the role instead.
For those of you who've already seen it, I apologize for being a hypocrite.

For those of you who'll only enjoy it if it follows Mark Miller's comic to the letter, you'll need to leave the cinema after the first 20 minutes.

For the rest of you, this isn't the kind of movie you analyze, it's the kind of movie you sit down to have a good time at. If action movies aren't your idea of a good time, see something else. If you can't suspend your disbelief if the film's set in the real world in the name of having a good time, go see something else.

If none of this criteria above fits you, enjoy!
