The Dark Knight The Dark Knight PG-13 5.0 Stars
A few years ago, a barely known vampire hunter brought back comic book movies to the big screen. After that, Marvel's ragtag bunch of mutant outcasts made comic book movies profitable again. And then "Spider-Man" came out and threw superheroes into stardom.

DC Comics took a hint and in 2005 the Caped Crusader got the treatment he deserved. We got thrown into a dirty & realistic version of Gotham City unlike any seen before on the silver screen. We saw Bruce Wayne mature and become the Batman; though this Batman was way more darker than previous incarnations. He was more of a terrorist than a hero. In short, he truly became the Dark Knight (pardon the pun).

So "Batman Begins" went on to being considered one of the best comic books movies of all time and the finest interpretation of Batman so far. Now the question that begged to be asked; could a sequel top it? And after that cliffhanger ending, can the Joker be brought to life and rival Jack Nicholson's portrayal? After 3 years of speculation, fans arguing about the casting of the Joker, etc we get the answer to the question. Hell yes!!!

Under Construction...
WALL-E WALL-E G 5.0 Stars
Remember Johnny 5 from "Short Circuit"? Meet his smaller cousin WALL-E; a little robot with 10 times more soul than R2-D2 (I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan so it's hard for me to say that) but equally funny. Join the last denizen of Earth in a journey to the end of the cosmos and back; you will laugh, cry, and cheer for our little hero.

What happens when a little robot programmed to clean the planet is the last of its kind? He develops a personality...and what a personality. Little WALL-E's range of emotion is impressive, and considering his "face" consists of just a pair of binoculars eyes it's an impressive feat. But not just his eyes; his body language and vocals give a performance that would put a lot of so-called actors to shame. Add to the mix Ben Burtt providing WALL-E's "voice" and you've struck gold. The guys at Pixar outdid themselves (yet again) and created a gem of a film.

But though WALL-E is the soul of this film, it couldn't have been possible without the boundless imagination of the wizards at Pixar. Every little artistic detail is perfectly rendered; models, backgrounds, lighting effects, sound effects, camera angles, textures, etc. This is truly one of the best animated films ever made. The same could be said about EVE; her sleek & sexy design is infinitely better once all the artistic layers have been applied. And though WALL-E has an almost human like personality, she can hold her own against him. The same holds true for the rest of the supporting characters.

But not all is peaches & cream in this latest Pixar movie. This film does make some harsh observations on current human behaviors & trends, but it doesn't feel preachy. It does have a slight "2001: A Space Odyssey" feeling, but it is perfectly balanced with the more family friendly part of the story.

Overall, don't miss this movie. It's not just a beautiful movie and maybe one of 2008's best, it's one of the best animated movies of all time. Don't dismiss it because of this fact, remember that animation is just another form of storytelling. Another tool that artists use to communicate their ideas. Truly a heartwarming & beautiful film, you won't be disappointed. Boys and girls, old and young, this movie is for everyone.

Just like "The Animatrix" filled the gap between the 1st two installments of the Matrix trilogy, "Batman: Gotham Knight" serves as a bridge between "Batman Begins"and "The Dark Knight". This 6 short animated stories shows us how Bruce Wanes grows amateur crime fighter into the Caped Crusader. Every short is a self-contained story that fits into a bigger picture and the mythos that is the Batman.

This collection of short films is not for everyone though; you have to be either a true Batman fan or a serious animation enthusiast to really appreciate this compilation. This is not the mainstream animation most people have grown accostumed, nor is in the same vein of the WB series. Besides being heavily influenced by anime, most of the artists' rendition of the Dark Knight is their interpretation of who Batman is. A few nods to the comic book will please comic book readers; also enriching the character and adding depth to it.

Overall, this is a great treat to Bat-fans. Not everyone will like it but those who do will certainly find "The Dark Knight" a bit more enjoyable.

A few months ago when I saw the 1st pictures of this production, I was a bit worried. Being a Frank Miller fan, the pictures looked disappointing. Another worrying fact was that the director had only 1 movie under his belt. All of this changed when I saw the trailer. This movie had a lot of potential to be a disaster (or in true Spartan fashion, to come home with its shield or on it) but in the careful hands of Zack Snyder, and the help of creator Frank Miller, turned into one of the most thrilling rides you'll ever experience. First of all, though I'm a history buff, this movie never made the claim to be historically accurate. If that's what you're looking for, go read a book about the Battle of Thermopylae. But if you want to see a great action movie, this is it. This movie is style over substance; "300" takes a HUGE artistic license on the accounts of the Battle of Thermopylae and turns it into a visual feast. Snyder went to painstaking extremes to be faithful to Miller's vision and succeeded greatly. This film captures Frank Miller's look AND feel of his graphic novel. The color palette gave a distinctive look to the movie that enhanced & enriched it vastly. The art direction was superb, as was the minimalistic costume design. The crimson capes the Spartans wore made such a contrast with the sepia backgrounds that it made them stand out even more. The VFX are top notch, you know they're there but are not distracted by them at all. Music wise, I wasn't expecting much. Boy, am I glad I was utterly wrong. The same haunting music used for the trailer made its way to the final product. The already impressive action scenes were enhanced by an awesome sound score. Like its visual counterpart, the sound score is loud, aggressive, and testosterone ridden. Speaking of aggression and testosterone, the action scenes have plenty of both. The fighting choreographies are beautifully directed & edited. Very worthy of the lean mean fighting machine the Spartans were. A minor detail that caught my eye was that the way blood was portrayed on the screen gave it a comic book quality. I'm not talking "Kill Bill" here but it sure looks stylized. Call me morbid or worse but I loved that look. And last but not least, David Wenham's narration. Perfect delivery of his lines that elevated some scenes, making more memorable than they already were. A few cheesy lines but hey, it's a freakin' movie adaptation from a Frank Miller book. Overall, AWESOME movie that delivers the goods; pleasing both the casual fan AND the hardcore fan that has previous knowledge of the book. Highly recommended, two thumbs up. P.S. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

How can I begin to to describe the genius behind this movie? Thought provoking, this movie grabs your senses by assault. If you haven't seen it, run to your nearest video club and rent it.

This is one of those rare cases that the sequel is as good (I won't say better because the comparison is unfair; one being suspense/horror and the other action) as the original. Another classic 80's macho movie. Good casting, great cinematography, awesome action and of course LOTS of aliens. Kudos to Mr. Cameron.

How could you not love Amélie with all her quirkiness? Great comedy that with a touch of magic realism delivers a heartwarming story. Audrey Tautou is perfectly cast as the title character and the cinematography is great. Don't miss it.

BEAUTIFUL!!! One of the finest animated movies ever and the ONLY one ever nominated for Best Picture. Classic story combined with jaw-dropping animation. Thank God for the Platinum Edition so now we can watch every frame in glorious detail and listen to the soundscore with crystal clear precision. One of my favorite animated movies (YEAH, I'm a guy so what?), it brings out the kid in all of us. If it doesn't, well, you're dead inside.

Excellent. This movie was funny, intriguing and a piece of art. All the emotions that can be transmitted just by a movement, a look in the eye, a gesture. This interesting story will remind you of Kafka, Sartre, Camus and other existentialists. If you enjoy foreign and experimental films, this one is a most to see. It will give you the feeling of been as confused as any of the characters is feeling.

So I had planned to see this on my birthday and when I went to buy tickets a week before, I shouldn't have been surprised that it was sold out! I had to see it on Imax, which by the way you should too cause it's awesome! So I had to wait a day later but I will say it again, it was worth the wait!
I definitely think it was in the same realm as Batman Begins, but that movie was just the beginning.
I have to disagree with all the critics that say that the only reason why so many people saw it was because of Heath Ledger's untimely death. Do they not know we have been talking about this movie for over a year now? Don't they know how excited we were with each new poster and how much we died to see a new glimpse of the movie???
The Joker was great! He did an excellent job. Totally different from how Jack Nickleson portrayed him, a lot darker, and that was perfect!
Christian Bale is still my favorite pick for Batman. I have to admit though when I first heard him speak, I giggled. It sounded so funny to how Bruce Wayne talked.
Kudos to Christopher Nolan for doing such a great job and I'm excited to see what happens next.
I heard that Two Face looked horrible but when I saw him for the first time, I loved it! I don't know why but that whole skeleton look really did it for me. I wish we could have seen more.
If you waited and talked about this movie as long as I did, I don't think you will be disappointed. Actually, the only disappointment you'll feel is when Batman is driving away and you realize the movie may be finished. I was disappointed that when me and a few others stayed until the credits were done, there wasn't anything there. Wish someone (and I think he knows who he is) would have written his review already!
So what are you waiting for?! Go see this on Imax!
i don't know who, what, where, when the watchmen are, is but the trailer looked cool! :)

Who knew that a non-talking robot could make a movie so great, and an animation at that!
Wall*E is just one of those movies you must see regardless if it's your type of movie or not.
He's this cute endearing waste collecting robot that's left on Earth to clean up our mess. The humans have left years ago when the planet became too unhabitable.
Wall*E lives a happy life, finding treasures in the trash that he takes home to share with his friend the cockroach.
One of the treasures he finds is a living plant that ultimitely leads to the love of his life, Eve. She is sent down to Earth to determine if it's sustainable and Wall*E falls head over heels for her.
The whole movie moved along so nice and really captures your attention. It was funny to see how much of slobs the humans had become because I can totally see that happening. Robots taking over, that too. Mankind fighting their way back to reclaim Earth, hopefully.
Whether old or young, animation fan or not, go see this movie! I can't imagine you'd regret it!

Though I do think this was a great movie... this message is more of a goodbye to everyone. My time on Flix has pretty much ran its course...so by time you read this my account should already be deleted.

Nobody has ran me off the site or anything like that I'm just not as active on it anymore and just feel that its what needs to be done. Most of you can still reach me on Facebook, Myspace, MSN, Yahoo and if you dont have the info get with one of the regs in the chat and they can pass the message on to me...

I love you all in your own unique (and sometimes eerily twisted) ways and will really miss you. If it gets really bad then I'll come back and make another account lol

This is Colin Firth like you've never seen him before! If you are used to Mr. Darcy, then you will be as surprised as I was to see him in this role. He was excellent!
He is just weird as Adrian LeDuc who rents a room to Jack Carney, played by Hart Bochner. The story unfolds as a killer is on the loose and Adrian is dealing with the deterioration of his ailing mother. He just keeps getting weirder and weirder and I blame his nosy neighbors, who are also weird in their own right.
I didn't expect the movie to end as it did but when you think about it, it all makes sense.
My mom recommended this movie to me when we were in Buenos Aires, since that is where the movie takes place. Didn't recognize any of the sites, but it was well worth a watch.
On Flixster, the more like this shows American Psycho but I had to give it a thumbs down since I don't agree! Watch it and let me know what you think!

If I wasn't on a plane, surrounded by strangers, I would have cried.
It was a good movie made better by Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. They have both played powerful parts in other movies, it's different to see them powerless against their struggle against cancer.
It doesn't really matter that the CGI isn't great because it isn't so much what they are seeing, but what they are learning about life.
    Worth a watch!

Great movie! Who needs the Man of Steel when you have Iron Man? Ok ok calm down I'm just saying...
Robert Downey Jr. was perfect for this role. I'm so happy that he found it and hope to see more of him in the future. Keep off the drugs and do more flixs like this Bob!
I have to sadly admit that I walked into the theater 10 minutes late and hope I didn't miss anything. It looked like I did when I saw he was already captured but thankfully it went into the days before that.
I liked how cocky he was even when he was trying to do good. Kinda hard to continue to make weapons of mass destruction when you see they are being used against your own.
I must have missed a lot of trailers because I was surprised when Gwyneth Paltrow showed up as Pepper Potts, which by the way was a great name! And what was up with The Dude?! He get cut off from the White Russians or what? I knew he was evil when I saw that he was bald!
Even though The Incredible Hulk had a lot of nostalgia, I liked this one better because it had more action and was funny. Yeah it didn't have as much heart as the other one, but all the geeky stuff was cool.
I liked his toys and how they made cute noises like they were alive. The one that kept spraying him was funny.
I went into this movie having never read the comic book, hell I didn't even know it was based on one until I saw Stan Lee. I liked the character and I believe you don't need to be a fanboy to enjoy it.
I did stay for the credits and you should too! I have no idea who Samuel L. Jackson's character was, but if he shows up wanting your help, you better jump on board!
Oh and now the whole Tony Stark showing up in The Incredible Hulk makes sense.
Hope you enjoy as much as I did!

I liked it! And I haven't even seen the other one that everybody is comparing it to. I just remember that one from the trailers looked silly.
It was good times watching this movie. Brought a lot of memories back. I wonder if my brother still has his Hulk jammies. Oh and when Lou Ferrigno let him pass with the pizza! Great cameo! I remember when he was at Safeway signing autographs and I was too scared to go up to him with my brothers, but of course they made me and he turned out to be so nice!
I enjoyed the action, it was fun to watch him smash a car to use as a shield. That crazy sound force machine thing, wow! Not strong enough for him though!
When he roared at the thunder and lightning on the cliff, it kinda reminded me of King Kong. The intensity in his eyes when he looked at her, loved it! I love the big green guy!
I was so happy that his blood pressure shot up too high for them to get farther than second base (or is it third base?) cause that would have just ruined it!
So great when he said "HULK SMASH"! Made it all worth it.
Can't finish this without mentioning how well Edward Norton did. I think this movie would not have been as good if it wasn't for him.
The ending was interesting and made me immediately buy a ticket for Iron Man! Well not immediately since we were the only ones who stayed after the credits hoping there was something more.
Can't wait to see what's next!
if you read my review you'll know why the next one follows right behind :D

So it's not the original, little is. And I was worried to watch this because of the bad press. But I for one am glad they got the band back together.

Nearly a remake, plays plenty of homage to Joliet Jake, and a bit weirder than the first. This is still wall to wall great music.
Hey, you should really see this! Unless you hate blues, then you probably shouldn't.
