| The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc - R |
I really really did enjoy watching this film. As a fan of Fifth Element, I am a fan of both Besson and Jovovich. Some of the scenes were just stunning and the acting was great- Jovovich's acting in particular.
Her portrayal of a slightly child-like yet almost psychotic Jean d'Arc was superb (the pure craziness was so evident that it was even a little frightening at times). Although this film was slightly Hollywood-ised with the ambiguous story of Jean possibly just being on a revenge mission and not a mission from God-shown with great talent when she battles with her conscience in her jail cell. But it worked very weill indeed. One bad point- the accents were all over the place. But as long as you can get past that, this is a very watchable, very recommendable film. |

Wasn't expecting TOO much from this film, and that meant it wasn't a huge disapointment.
It was quite watchable with some good scenes- particularly the possessions. I was pleasantly surprised to find Rachael Weisz in this film- always a fan of hers. Reeves & LaBeouf weren't all bad either. |
