| Three Colors: White (Trzy kolory: Bialy) - R | Pretty decent film. Better than Three Colours: Blue, I thought. | March 6, 2009 | N/A | |||

| Monsters, Inc. - G | Kids film or not, I don't care. I absolutely love it- it always makes me laugh. Boo is just THE cutest character ever, and there are such recognisable voices (like Steve Buscemi as Randal, and John Ratzenberger as The Abominable Snowman). A great film indeed. | February 21, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Hairspray - PG |
The 1st 30-40 minutes are really bad, but it gets a lot better towards the end. I wasn't sure, though, whether the acting was MEANT to be that bad...or whether it just was that bad.
Christopher Walken is exempt, naturally, as is John Travolta to some degree. But I didn't think Nikki Blonsky was good at all- unless, as I said, she was meant to be acting badly. I enjoyed James Marsden's persformance (if slightly lacking in laser eyes...) However, if you concentrate on how good the dancing is, then it becomes a better film. Also, as much I want to hate the talented bastard, Zac Efron was actually decent in this film. I do think he has some acting talent. Elijah Kelly was very good as well. Overall, an okay film. I would watch it again, now I know that I can basically ignore 1st 40mins or so. |

| 1408 - PG-13 |
This film suprised me with JUST how good it is. As a Stephen King based thriller it's a very decent adaptation indeed (I absolutely loved how creepy it was when he was waving to himself in the building across the road).
But it's with the psychological side of things that this film really excels. John Cusack was absolutely fantastic, his acting abilities being well proven here as he undergoes a psychological breakdown. I loved how, after realising he didn't actually "wake up"in an LA hospital, he has to go through a random door in the middle of his hotel suite. This was a great physical representation of his character having to go through a locked door in his mind, to where the memory of his daughter is hidden away (shown by the fact that his daughter turns up after he opens this door). I think it's the people who watch this as "just another haunted-hotel ghost story" that give it the mediocre reviews. If you really watch it and add in both the psych. side and the strength of Cusacks acting, this is a great, great film. |

| Juno - PG-13 | Quite surreal and sweet. Ellen Page was very funny. A good film. | January 19, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Disturbia - PG-13 |
I don't think this film ever wanted to be a remake of Hitchcock's classic Rear Window, because it would have sunk itself before it even had a chance- that is, if the trend of recent remakes are anything to go by (i.e. Nicholas Cage's "The Wicker Man" or the 2006 "The Omen").
No, instead I think this film wanted to be a...twist on the story. A new angle at an old favourite. In itself, it was a pretty good thriller. A lot better than I thought it was going to be. David Morse was as great as usual. |

I thought this was a pretty good film. Brandon Routh made a pretty decent job of it. Though the best aspect, naturally, was Mr Spacey- who was hilarious as Luthor. But good-hilarious.
However, because they spent quite some effort on the characters stories ("why were they gone, why were they released from prison, etc etc") I think the plot suffered. It just seemed a little bland to me. Hopefully it will make for a better and deeper sequel. |

| American Psycho - R |
As a film on its own, it was okay. Some sort of commentary on human materialism.
But Bale was unFUCKINGbelievable! His performance kept this film from becoming something slightly naff and comical. His psychotic character was nearly as off-the-hinge as Ledger's Joker, that he would go on to play against. |

| Toy Story 2 - G | Absolutely hilarious film. Kids film or not, I don't care. This is as good as, if not better than, the 1st. | December 24, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind - R |
Took me FAR too long to get round to watching this- but when I did, I really, really enjoyed it. Very weird and surreal, but a nice, heart-warming story. This is one of the best performances I've seen from Jim Carrey & Kate Winslet was fantastic as well.
Also, Dunst's "He'll wake up all...half-baked and gooey and...half-baked...mmm that sounds SO good. I'm hungry", was hilarious. |

| Dial M for Murder - PG | A very, very clever film. | December 15, 2008 | N/A | |||
| The Maltese Falcon - Unrated |
The ultimate film noir- a slick, fast talking, slighty-dodgy (but with a good heart) detective, a femme fatale, and plenty of lies, mystery and murders.
Very interesting that this was Sydney Greenstreet's very 1st acting role and he ended up with an Oscar for it. He, Bogart and Lorre are all fantastic. An amazing film, and a true classic. |

| Psycho - R |
An absolutely fantastic film. Antony Perkins was nothing less than sublime, some amazing acting.
Hermann did very well with the music as well- it's very tense and even a little frightening. Sticks in the mind. Although Hitchcock did have an obsession with birds didn't he? The stuffed birds...Marion CRANE...from Pheonix...(not to mention making an entire film about them a few years later). But this is an absolute masterpiece, and always will be. |

| Duck Soup - Unrated | As much as I love Groucho Marx & his witticisms, I didn't think this was the funniest film ever. Still pretty good though. | December 10, 2008 | N/A | |||

| Poltergeist - PG |
There has been a trend for most 70's/80's horrors in that numerous parodies of them have been made (in this instance, see the hilarious Family Guy episode "Petergeist").
Thus, most of us have probably been desensitised to the content of the films. As a result they tend to be a bit dull, lacklustre and not all that scary. Unfortunately this film follows that trend. Although, I can see how it would have been a lot scarier back then. And the special effects weren't the most atrocious I've ever seen. HOWEVER, I really did enjoy the ending- the last 10mins or so. Kind of made it worth watching really. |

| The Mist - R |
I really enjoyed this film. Although a little hammy and- possibly unintentionally- funny in places, it was a very gritty piece of work.
The story of Military experiments gone wrong in itself, isn't THAT amazing. But it was the 2 sub-stories that made this film great. Firstly the story of how people become crazy without law and order, and turn to the person who basically shouts the loudest. The religious woman who at first was just crazy, but eventually got to more and more people until they were convinced that killing a soldier (who had nothing to do with the "mist") and a young boy was the right thing to do. Leading on from that were the religious undertones- plagues, rivers of blood, the sacrafice/killing of the 1st born son. Did the mist unfortunately clear just moments after the father killed his son? Or did the father's sacrafice of his child make the mist clear? An open ending, to what (after originally looking a bit old and over-done) turned out to be quite a tough, gritty film. |

One phrase- cow on a roof. Fantastic.
Quite funny in a heartwarming, makes-you-smile kind of way (rather than a laugh-out-loud way). Worth watching. |
