| Iron Man - PG-13 |
I thought this was a great film. Funny, full of action, dramatic...
Robert Downey Jr was brilliant in his role as Stark. I think he played it very welll and was very funny. The one bad point was the...devolution...of Paltrows character. At the start she was strong, independent, witty, etc etc. But by the end she'd turned into the stereotypical helpless female/love interest of the hero. Her character went from its strong beginning to being very whinny and a bit pathetic really. All in all though, very watchable film. |

Where to start with this one...
Well it was a very funny film- funnier than I expected. In places some of the acting/dialogue, etc was a bit corny- but I think that was intended. With a film about this subject, I think it had to be a slightly spoofy film- otherwise it would just be awful. One slightly bad point is that it took a little long to get to the scene that everyone knew was coming- the 1st...beheading (for want of a better phrase). But, once there it was an enjoyable story with some truly horrific and shocking scenes. Overall, I think this is a film that's worth watching. It'll make you laugh, gasp and, most of all, squirm. |

| The Incredible Hulk - PG-13 |
I think everybod just wanted this to at least be better than the original. And, I think it was.
Some of the dialoue was a bit naff, and there were a few plot-holes. But overall it was a watchable film. Some great action sequences and I thought Norton was very decent indeed. |

| Hulk - PG-13 |
An average film. In itself, the character of The Hulk was pretty awesome- particularly the 1/2hour or so of action (i.e. the tank-toppling, helicopter harassing, San Fransisco smashing 1/2hour). But the rest of the film/plot just didn't really support him well enough.
Also, the comic-book style in which it was filmed (split-screen, etc) wasn't to my tastes. |

| Batman & Robin - PG-13 | Appaling film. One redeeming quote- the ever hilarious (just because it's so bad) line from Mr Freeze "Ice to see you". But only funny when said in an Arnie accent. | June 6, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Kill Bill, Volume 2 - R |
A lot of people were disappointed with the second of these films, but I wasn't.
I thought it had a good amount of action, but really explored the story and characters a lot more (which ultimately made the 1st film better as well). I could watch both these films many times over. |

| Sphere - PG-13 | An okay film, an amazing book. If you have to chose whether to watch or read it...I would read it. | June 6, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Die Hard With a Vengeance (Die Hard 3) - R | My favourite of the series. | June 6, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Mississippi Mermaid (La Sirčne du Mississipi) - PG |
An okay film but slightly dull. Didn't really like the ending.
Gets better if you analyse it, because it's actually dealing (much in the same way as Bergman's The Silence) with the two sides of femininity. |

| Ocean's Twelve - PG-13 | For a film with such a great group pf actors, this really wasn't that impressive. | June 6, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Blowup (Blow-Up) (Blow Up) - Unrated |
On it's own, it's a very strange & confusing film. But if you analyse it, it becomes a work of genius.
Dealing with the issues of trauma leading to a real or symbolic death & rebirth of a person's character, this really makes you think. A very underrated film, because people usually just don't get it. |

| Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - PG-13 |
This was always going to come under fire as not being "a real Indiana Jones".
However, it certainly wasn't the disappointment everybody thought it would be. As a film on its own, it was very decent indeed. The whole action/drama/comedy package that you expect from an Indy was present. Also, i think it worked because it was very self-referential. There were constant references to the fact that Ford was older, etc etc (for example, lines such as "It's not as easy as it used to be".) As well as this, I really enjoyed the parody between Indy/Mud and Indy/Jones Sr of "Crusade". With Ford using such great Connery lines as "This is intolerable", it was a very nice hommage to him. And there was the evident, and again very sweet, hommage to Denholm Elliot (Brody) throughout the film. As for cast/acting...I thought they stood up to the challenge quite well. Ford took about 15mins to get back into the role, but for the majority of the film, it was as if he'd never been away from being Indy. I've always been a fan of Cate Blanchett, and thought she was brilliant in this film. The only downsides really, were Ray Winstones character (as much as I admire him, his character just didn't seem to have any real point) and the plot. Now, religion is one thing, but aliens? I think it was just a tad far-fetched. However, I'm open-minded enough to know that this is the kind of unbelievable world Indy lives in, and so the film is better for it. |

| An Officer and a Gentleman - R |
This isn't a film I'd try and find a copy of, just to watch it. But I randomly caught the first couple of minutes while flicking through the TV channels and decided to give it a go.
In parts, it's a little naff and corny, but all round this is a decent film- with a few really good sad and funny parts during. Gossett Jr was great (as vindicated by numerous parodies of this film). The ending, of course, was a "classic clip" of Hollywood cinema. |

| Hellboy - PG-13 |
Although slightly corny in places, I really enjoyed watching this.
I'm becoming a huge fan of the gothic-monster-type-genre that Del Toro seems to create brilliantly. The gas-mask-faced Kroenen character really freaked me out. John Hurt and Ron Pearlman were very good. |

| The Phantom of the Opera - PG-13 | Not often do I like musicals, but I really enjoyed this film. It was superb. I have to say though, the book is still better (anyone who hasn't read it, really should). However, they did very well with the film. Always nice to have Miranda Richardson in a film as well. | May 22, 2008 | N/A | |||
