| Trick 'r Treat - R |
I got this on DVD a week before Halloween 2009 and kept it for that day. There was so much hype for this movie but it was well worth it for a change.
This will be my Halloween movie of choice from now on. |

My first review on this site for a long time...
This movie was ace, good old school 50's style bug movie with good practial and cgi (not too heavy on the cgi thank god) fx work. Funny and fun, I loved it. A total blind buy from HMV for £3.99 it was well worth my time and a movie I'll be sure to watch again. So grab a beer (or if like me you don't drink, grab a glass of Irn-Bru) and enjoy. Don't know if I can't post this, but I talk about it on my latest youtube video, so check that out if you want to hear me blab a bit more about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jkflESRa4o |

| Full Metal Jacket - R |
I loved this as a kid and all these years later (35 now) It's still, if not more so.. An Amazing movie.
Perfect in almost every way. A total classic Stanley Kubrick movie and I think his best movie. Not going to bother with a long review saying what I love about this film as it's all been said to death already. One of the most quotable movies ever, one of the best 80s movies and without doubt one of the best war movies (of any kind) ever made. "The deadliest weapon in the world is a marine and his rifle. It is your killer instinct which must be harnessed if you expect to survive in combat. Your rifle is only a tool. It is a hard heart that kills. If your killer instincts are not clean and strong you will hesitate at the moment of truth. You will not kill. You will become dead marines and then you will be in a world of shit because marines are not allowed to die without permission. Do you maggots understand?" |

| Day of the Dead - R |
I was chuffed this was going to come out, first off, I LOVE Romero's version and it's one of my top 10 fave movies of all time, second I thought the remake of Dawn was ace, so I thought no reason why this should not be as good.
THEN! Then I saw the trailer for it, and like most fans of Day I scrubbed this of my want to see list. So It did not come out for a few years, then it went right to DVD, the fans hated it and I forgot about it. I then started to see some glowing reviews for this movie and the more I read both good and bad reviews the more I saw a pattern. See! If you come into this movie expecting A Romero movie or a follow-up to Dawn then you're going to hate this movie. If you come into this movie knowing that it's a pure fun video game type movie(think 'Left 4 Dead) with daft puns, lots of gore, and more cheese than a 3 year old unwashed penis, then you're going to, at the very least, like this movie a lot. It really felt like Left 4 Dead the movie to me and it was a fun ride. I'm glad I gave this movie a chance :-D |

Pretty good low budget sci-fi alien movie.
Some nice gore bits and the alien is cool. |

| What Women Want - PG-13 |
Mel Gibson's ace in this.
The movie is very funny with a good story (that does run out a steam a bit by the end mind you) I wish Marisa Tomei had more to do in it :( Great chemistry between Mel and Helen Hunt keeps the movie fun to watch For me this is a now classic rom-com, one that makes me smile all the way through. Just pray women are never able to read guys minds, if they ever made that movie it would be x-rated :-D |

| Stardust - PG-13 |
What a great movie this was. A kinda mix of The Princess Bride, Time Bandits and Labyrinth. It had a very 80s fantasy movie feel to it.
A great cast, really nice fx work and a superb music score. A nice mix of romance, action/adventure, fantasy and comedy and even a touch of horror. Michelle Pfeiffer somehow still looks good even as a wicked old hag haha, no amount of makeup seems to 100% ugly her up lol. Ian McKellen was the perfect choice for the voiceover work and Robert De Niro was really funny as the campy hardman. Stars Charlie Cox and Claire Danes (who I loved in T3) have a nice chemistry together and although the supporting cast are ace, they are the stars of the movie (get it:P) Even the Take That song at the end works well. All in all, a great fantasy movie that really took me back to the classic movies of the 80s. Great for all the family |

I watched the B&W version of this first? Why? Because that's how the director wanted it and after watching a bit of the colour version I'm glad I did.
It's very 'night of the living dead' without the zombies :D I LOVED this movie, very old school in the way it plays out and even some of the fx is crappy enough to keep it feeling like that. After reading some reviews I can see a lot of people did not get what the director was trying to do with this movie and that's a shame. Those who did though, will agree, that this is one of the best old school type horror movies to be done in many a year. The ending is amazing |

| Disturbia - PG-13 |
I enjoyed this movie a lot, a kind of Rear Window meets Fright Night with a bit of the Stepfather.
Shia LaBeouf is great here and thank God because there's nobody else really to shine. Sure, Sarah Roemer is ace eye candy and Aaron Yoo does a good job as the goofy friend (sidekick) but David Morse gets nothing to do here, a total waste of what could have been an ace role for him. Carrie-Anne Moss (matrix) also has very little to do and when she is in danger did you really care? Nope? Nor me. It's a watchable movie and in fact the first half is really good, it's just a shame they ran out of ideas and everything that happens in the movie up to the last 30 mins gets changed to the point you wonder if you're still in the same film. Don't expect any twists here because that's not what this movie is about. You know who the bad guy is and you know how it's going to end... It's all been done before and done a lot better... Still. I did enjoy it thanks mostly to a very likeable Shia and a smoking hot Sarah Roemer who spends most of the movie showing her rear end (and very nice it is too!) |

| WALL-E - G |
Wall-E... Evaaaaa! (repeat to fade)
This movie looks amazing and it's very touching at times. I loved the look of Wall-E; being a fan of both ET and Short Circuit. But the movie is not perfect by any means and it's not one of Pixars best (although with almost every pixar movie being a masterpiece this is not saying much negative about it) I did not like the look of the fat humans, I hated that they used real video in the movie and the Wall-E and Eve name banter really got on my nerves by the end of the movie. These are all minor things though because this movie was still amazing. |

I enjoyed this quite a bit (extended version on DVD) but it does not really know what it wants to be so I found myself waiting on it being really funny, or really serious...Something! But it just kinda plods along.
I think this is a movie I'll enjoy more a 2nd time now that I know what his problem was, so rather than try to figure it out I'll just sit back and switch of my brain :D A note to my sister who I think was looking to get this for her 10 year old son who loves everything superhero... it's not a movie for kids (at least not the version I watched) |

| The Dark Knight - PG-13 |
At last I've seen this movie (that's been talked about soo much this year) and I've got to say it was worth waiting on.
There's not point in going on about how great everybody is here since it's been done to death, but I will say I've marked it down for a few reasons. Batmans voice is sooo daft still, so much so that I feel like laughing anytime he speaks (get some lockets already lol) I think it's just a bit too modern for it's own good at times and does not really feel like a batman movie a lot of the time. -------- So it's really good, but I still don't think you can beat Tim Burtons Batman movies for the look and feel, and Michael Keaton is still the best batman to date, although Christian Bale makes for a great Bruce Wayne. |
