"Buio Omega" Aka. "Beyond the Darkness" is certainly an exploitation film Joe D'Amato, but the viewer should see this film more as a psychological thriller with some gore scenes in it, thought the gore scenes are very graphic and nasty, they are not gratuitous, they are an essential part of the story.
    The sick, twisted and kinky.

'Brick' is a film noir murder mystery featuring contemporary high school students who talk and behave like 1940's-style gangsters.
The cinematography is great, the acting is good from everybody involved, good fights and a good deal of suspense, with a strangely compelling and cleverly constructed story, BUT attention must be paid because the plot is very hard to follow. Right from the start, so many crucial details are given, I sometimes lost track of the already shady motives of the film's characters but it is all connects in the end, much more than the average denouement in your typical noir.
A very stylish and original neo-noir.

Maybe Avatar is the best movie of this year, or it just happen that Inglourious Basterds will win Oscar; but 500 Days Of Summer is one the best movie I've ever seen!
    (500) Days of Summer (500) Days of Summer
    by Mesh
This is a movie for the one that have been hurt before, that knows what is a broken hearted, loved some one whole heartedly and at the end knows how to move on and leave it all behind. This is that type of movie that is rare, and i loved it because i can relate too.

Tom: People don't realize this, but loneliness is underrated

Without sounding sappy and broken, 500 Days Of Summer is just pure magic and a beautiful movie that means a lot. As watching this it's like rewinding what happened to me; it makes me wanna scream, shout, and punch the movie for bringing up this matter. Marc Webb's enchanting tale of not Love Story, tells you the true love a young man feel for a girl, that is odd, precious, cute yet cold. The doomed relationship's, the pain, the suffering, the feeling of lost that Tom encounter is unbelievably relatable, which makes it one of the factor i rate this movie so high.

Summer: I woke up one morning and I just knew.
    Tom: Knew what?
Summer: What I was never sure of with you.

Joseph Gordon Levitt is flying high, he is extremely wonderful - best performance in romance movie ever. Zooey Deschanel; this strange-perfect gal' acts as if she is Summer, and leave you dry (wish to shot her in the middle of the movie), but the last scene changes all! You can't hate her, they're just not meant to be. Great supporting cast too (Minka Kelly is drop-dead-gorgeous).

Rachel Hansen: Tom, I know you think she was the one, but I don't. Next time you look back, I think you should look again

Marc Webber first full length movie (Don't you just love fresh director?!) got remarkable reviews and praise, and i Thank him for making this movie; what a gem and put all romance movies to shame!

I'm sure i will rewatch it endlessly, and i appreciate this movie for the final scene; it gaves me hope.

Narrator: This is a story of boy meets girl. But you should know up front, this is not a love story

    10/10

Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day
    by Corey
This is the second movie based off of the popular television show the Trailer Park Boys. The story takes place two years after the last television special of the Trailer Park Boys. All the guys are back. Bubbles, Julian, Ricky, Mr.Lahey, Randy, Lucy, Tyrone and J-Roc. Now if you have never watched a episode of the television series then you will get loss with the characters and past stories. This is a movie more for the hardcore fans. The movie is your typical Trailer Park Boys antics. Swearing, crime and getting into situations to send them back to jail. The movie is very funny. But then if you have never watched the show then you may not find it as funny. The movie seemed more like a long episode of the television series. But I liked it. I would suggest watching the television series before watching this movie. But overall this is a solid comedy that made me laugh.

Visually stunning thrill-ride remaining remarkably true to the original, from Victorian vernacular to the representation of the ghosts from original publication illustrations. Rich in detail and realism via motion capture and computer-animation. Jim Carrey expertly portrays Ebenezer Scrooge as well as all three ghosts.

This is a solid action sci-fi thriller. Basically about one man who stumbles on to a police conspiracy. Now this was at the time a future set movie for 1999. Now we know that 1999 never turns out the way this film makes it look. But regardless it was a neat look into a supposed alternate future. Ralph Fiennes is excellent as the hero of the film. Plus throw in a great supporting cast and solid story, action and F/X you get a decent film. This film may not appeal to all but give it a one time watch. I enjoyed it.

TRAILER FOR THE REMAKE OF THIS MOVIE

Exposé (The House on Straw Hill) (Trauma) Exposé (The House on Straw Hill) (Trauma)
    by John
This film was included on the infamous 'Video Nasty' under the title, 'Exposé' aka. "House on Straw Hill". Like a lot of films on the list, this one doesn't feature a great deal in the way of gore. It does have a handful of bloody sequences, but nothing enough to warrant it's banning in my opinion.
Considering that it's a thriller, the film doesn't feature a great deal of tension, but the action is kept engaging by the way that it sets up the storyline. The film moves slowly, but in doing so is allowed time to let its characters grow and the plot to build.
A good explotation thriller that will entertain and even surprise you on more than one occasion.

Also known as "The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue". This is a very good zombie film. It is very well made and is intelligent as well as visceral. It is one of the best and most underrated of its sub-genre, which is atmospherically spooky and ghastly creative.
I would unequivocally recommend it to fans of zombie movies and European exploitation cinema in general.

James Cameron"s "Avatar" is a phenomenal achievement, a gorgeous and truly breathtaking sci-fi epic. The captivating tale of the Na'vi a peaceful alien race of blue-skinned 12 foot tall giants with golden eyes who's planet Pandora is the only known source of a very special mineral that can save the Earth. Now the Na'vi must fight for their survival against Earth's aerial hi-tech armies of Marines who will stop at nothing to possess the mineral. A stunning array of technical wizardry and innovation by Cameron and his team who invented a new revolutionary breakthrough 3D-process for this epic that has to be seen to be believed. The Amazing CGI visual effects are peerless. The entire cast is superb with Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriquez and Stephen Lang the standouts. By all means see this film in ( 3D Imax) to fully appreciate James Cameron's technical marvel, and the best film of 2009! Highly Recommended.

    Paranormal Activity Paranormal Activity
    by Jani
"You promised me you wouldn't get a fucking Ouija board!
    - No, I promised I wouldn't go buy Ouija board. I borrowed one."

So this movie has been given the biggest hype this year. Already released back in '07, 'Paranormal Activity' was re-released again and was a huge hit. It cost only 15000 but has made over 100 million USD's, making it one of the most profitable movies ever made.

Is it any good then? 'Paranormal Activity' reminds me of 'Blair Witch Project', which everyone of you should at least heard of at some point. 'BWP' had a scarier story, with the woods as the evil thingy. 'PA' steals a lot from the later, with its documentary style and "authentic" videos. Oh yeah, the answer to the question is... This movie sucks ass.

A 30 something couple are being harassed by some scary demon. They try to get an exorcist but he's conveniently on vacation. Do they still stay in the house? Of course! So what's the scary stuff here then? Watching an Ouija board moving and being burned? Footprints on the floor? Watching the hysteric woman stand for hours still at night watching her husband? Slaming doors? All clichés...

This film is being advertised as the scariest film ever made, with people crying and leaving the theater. What the fuck is wrong with you!? Scary in what way? I was scared only because of one thing, and that being the fact that I got robbed by the theatre and didn't know how to get my euros back...

Sure, believe the hype and go see the "scariest" film ever made. Spend 90 minutes in a dark theatre and understand that you could do better things instead. Fuck...

A controversial love story which is well acted and told in great sequence. What starts out as an unconventional tale of love escalates into an emotionally drawn journey between the unlikely pair.

This is a film that certainly makes an emotional impact, my only critism, (although a very small one) would be the make up for the aging process, which didn?t seem as realistic as it could have.

A well acted part by David Kross.

La Double Vie de Véronique (The Double Life of Veronique) La Double Vie de Véronique (The Double Life of Veronique)
    by Arianeta
The Double Life of Véronique remains one of his most beloved and celebrated works from the late, great Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski. It won the Best Actress gong at Cannes for Irène Jacob's delectable dual performance as two identical-looking women. Veronique and Veronika were born on the same day in different countries. . Though unknown to each other, the two women share an enigmatic, purely emotional bond. They are identical twins, they have much the same upbringing, and they seem somehow aware of the other's existence. Veronique is a professional singer, and Veronika is a talented amateur who, on a whim, tries out for an operetta and gets the part. If something bad happens to one of them, the other somehow realizes this and narrowly avoids the same fate.
The film is a ravishing, mysterious rumination on identity, love, and human intuition and a perfect example of a situation where a film doesn't have to make sense to be a compelling and wonderful film experience. Kieslowski focus in gorgeous reflections, colours, and movements. Aided by Slawomir Idziak's shimmering cinematography and Zbigniew Preisner's haunting, operatic score, Kieslowski creates one of cinema's most purely metaphysical works. The Double Life of Veronique is an unforgettable movie experience of feeling. A real masterpiece.

    Eden Lake Eden Lake
    by Lady
Eden Lake is just one of many Horrors brought out with terrorising teens and yet for me this one seemed so much more realistic, perhaps because it was English made and that makes me, as an English woman relate, but hopefully also for realistic acting and disturbingly natural violence and menace.

Kelly Reilly played an interesting role in this and it was good to see Thomas Turgoose take a step back here and not take the limelight after his first two successes with Shane Meadows. Tense and shockingly not far fetched, I particularly like the way this film ended, it stayed with the realistic feel and never took on the clichés so many Horror films do.
