Becoming Jane - PG Becoming Jane is an extraordinarily beautiful period film about the life of Jane Austin. The film has a very cinematic feel which is quite captivating in and of itself. The addition of a brilliant script, outstanding acting, and dazzling costuming makes Becoming Jane a very good film. Hathaway and McAvoy will steal your heart. March 15, 2009

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story - R A definite parody of Walk the Line, which has some shining moments and some not so shining moments. John C Reilly, normally the sidekick, holds his own in the lead role of Dewey Cox. The music is actually fairly good, there's some very classic scenes and for me, I found it more humorous thinking back on it than while actually watching. The shining moments seem to stick in your head after the film is over. 'The wrong kid died'.... LOL! March 15, 2009

Prom Night - PG-13 A true horror fan will find Prom Night appalling. The drama genre would be a better fit. The film will not scare you, there's a bit of blood but not much. It has some eye candy for those under thirty. The acting is about on par with the level of the film. March 15, 2009

Captivity - R A very predictable torture porn flick which moves a bit slowly. Captivity lacks the punch and intensity of films like Saw. The acting is mediocre and there just isn't enough suspense. There is a scene with a dog which as an animal lover I absolutely hated. To each his own on that one... With little fanfare the film drags to a less than dramatic end. March 15, 2009

One Missed Call - PG-13 One Missed Call is more suspense than horror, but the movie isn't as bad as some reviews would suggest. If you like slasher/gore, avoid One Missed Call. If you want big scares, avoid One Missed Call. If you just like feel a few chill bumps on occasion during a film, One Missed Call works. Nothing major here you haven't seen before in some shape or form, but it's a well made B flick. March 15, 2009

Definitely, Maybe - PG-13 A sweet romantic comedy/drama which is well written and well acted. Ryan Reynolds fits his part perfectly and the female leads are strong and enjoyable. Abigail Breslin is adorable, smart and witty as usual. An enjoyable film.... March 15, 2009

Eagle vs. Shark - R Reminiscent of Napoleon Dynamite though not quite as funny. The dorky, geeky characters are just quirky enough and yet remain likable enough to reach your soft spot. The families are just as quirky as Eagle and Shark which makes the film a fun watch. If you enjoy your comedies a bit on the weird side, Eagle vs. Shark fits the bill. March 15, 2009

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2) - PG-13 Bigger and louder than the first, Hellboy II is just plain fun to watch. Perlman is just a delight as Hellboy and he keeps you chuckling throughout the film. The graphics of the film are outstanding. Just the right blend of sci-fi, action, drama and comedy to make for a great watch.... March 8, 2009

Watchmen - R Disclaimer: I have not read the graphic novel.

Watchmen... one of the highly anticipated films on my 2009 list fell a bit flat. The plot is interesting enough, the cinematography was good and the score was enjoyable. Aside from the characters of Rorshach and Comedian, the other characters were not impressive, including the famed Dr. Manhattan. Unfamiliar with the graphic novel, I don't know if it was the characters within themselves or poor acting. Though I enjoyed the film, and parts of it truly shined, I had to ask myself if I were interested enough to view it again. The answer- No. With that said, the film is above average for it's respective genre and worth a viewing for anyone who is a fan of graphic novels, comics and sci-fi.

Amazing Grace - PG A very touching and moving biopic based upon the life of William Wilberforce and his lifelong fight to abolish the slave trade in England. The acting and costuming were absolutely brilliant and the cinematography was beautiful. The story itself is interesting, gripping and inspiring. The switching between time periods was a bit distracting, but overall this is very good film. March 8, 2009

P2 - R P2 is an average psycho/stalker/slasher film which works on the level of suspense. It really is not a horror film, although it has a fair share of gore. The acting is standard and the film is cliche filled. Interesting enough to keep you around to find out the ending, although you could probably predict it... March 8, 2009

Hatchet - R If I were 10 again, maybe this film would have worked.... It was just bad. From the script to the special effects, this film was a farce. March 8, 2009

Find Me Guilty - R Based upon a true story, this court room drama is filled with humor and is very touching. Vin Diesel is fantastic as Jackie Dinorsio and if not for such a great supporting cast, he would have stolen the show. The script is well written and the story is very interesting. A must see for true story film buffs, court room drama buffs and Vin Diesel fans.... just don't expect the action you're accustomed to from him. March 8, 2009

The Dead Girl - R Haunting.... intellectually stimulating.... The Dead Girl is a gripping drama with an extremely well written script and some outstanding performances. The brilliance of the film continues in waves as each sequence unfolds. A film that will stay with you long after it ends. March 8, 2009
