Chinatown (1974,  R)
Chinatown
This sinister son of film noir is one of the most meticulously crafted Hollywood films in many years.Everyone involved collaborated to recreate for contempory tastes this disillusioned vision of seedy,sunkissed,pre-war southern California.
Kinks complicate mystery, lies compound complexity, and passionn clouds detectionas what begins as a seemingly routine matrimonial noop job mushrooms into a murderous regional and personal scandal.A remarkably underrated film one of Jack Nicholsons finest acting achievements as well as a fine example of the talent of Roman Polanski.
