Disaster Movie Disaster Movie PG-13 Not Interested
I could probably just throw it half a star without even seeing it. Scary Movie was ok, but after that, these movie have just gotten worse and worse.

Plus this one is as poorly titled as Epic Movie. Half these movies aren't even disaster movies. So yeah, a more fitting title for most of these movies would be....Shitty Movie. Disaster Movie might only be a fitting title since this will be a DISASTER.
Crank Crank R 2.5 Stars
I'm a Jason Statham fan and he's entertaining here even if his performance isn't that great. The movie is also 100% silly and stupid. Plus I can't believe they managed to figure out how to make a sequel. This movie is crap but it did manage to keep my attention the first time I saw it. But if I see it on cable I just change it. Once is enough.
Tropic Thunder Tropic Thunder R 3.5 Stars
Tropic Thunder is no doubt Ben Stiller's best comedy in awhile. Jack Black does his best work as well. While Robert Downey Jr. is just as much of a show stealer as the trailers hinted.

I think that both Tom Cruise and Matthew McCounaghey try too hard to be funny in supporting roles though. McCounaghey just looks dopey and lost with no scene where he has to lose his shirt lol. He plays Stiller's agent who's obsessed with getting him a Tivo. While the funny Bill Hadar (Superbad) is wasted as the yes man to Cruise's nutty producer character.

Still it is fun seeing all these big actors in one movie. Stiller also does a fine job with his direction. He does a good job making fun of Hollywood while spoofing classic war films as well. What is also very clever, is how trailers starring characters in the movie are shown before the movie starts. They are hilarious, especially the one with Tobey Maguire.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars Star Wars: The Clone Wars PG Want To See
I'm tired of all the Clone War stories. They need an animated movie with Luke after Return of the Jedi. As a StarWars fan I'll see this. Another prequel story just isn't needed though.
The Simpsons Movie The Simpsons Movie PG-13 3.5 Stars
Some people called it a rip-off while it was in theaters because it isn't that long. It is however very funny and smart though. Hell, it's the uncrowned best animated film of last year.

Uplifting and sweet until it tacks on a tear jerker ending.

They've been remaking a lot of 80's movies of late and this is one movie that should never ever....ever be remade. It's a smart touching and fun movie about time travel where a teenager (Michael J. Fox) is stuck in the 50's. He meets his parents and teaches his father to stand up for himself against a bully named Biff and to follow his dreams. That's another way to look at the movie anyway lol.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is literly the best adventure film ever made. I just wish their were a lot more Indiana Jones movies. During all the time they took finding a script they liked for a part 4, they could've made 7 more sequels lol.

its a happy madison film, so expect adam sandler humor and a few cast members of sandlers favorite actors. its cute, silly, and heartwarming.

Normally I'd be the last person who wanted to see ANOTHER movie about 9/11, mostly because I think movies like United 93 and World Trade Center, while they some good points, deep down (or sometimes just under the surface) are all about exploitation.

WTC VIEW is different. It's all about one man (Michael Urie, Mark from Ugly Betty) trying to find a roomate in the days and weeks after 9/11. The whole film takes place within his apartment, and starts AFTER 9/11. You never see The World Trade Center, or scenes of the aftermatgh, etc.

It's all about him coming to terms with what he experienced and his loss.

And you won;t be dissapointed by the ending.

Not at all original, but pretty good if you just want to switch your brain off and coast, which isn't so bad sometimes.

I do wonder why actors of a certain calibre would do this kind of movie, but who knows? Maybe they are trying to widen their fanbase.

Probably I might inflate my rating because I enjoyed it.

Random gripes tho, I can't resisst: OK, some guys look hot with a mustache, but Jay Mohr looked like a straight up douche. I wonder if that was purposeful... And does anyone else find Forrest Whitaker's fucked up eyelid to be majorly distracting?? Maybe I just have ADD ;)

    Worth a rwent.

Starts off slow, but picks up steam in a hurry.

This is the kind of film that is truly horrifying because not only could it happen, it in fact did happen.

Catherine Kenner and Ellen Page give inspired performances, but it's the real story that is the star of this film.

Very graphic and not for children under any circumstances, but definitely, watch this!

For anyone looking for Hollywood to make a good Mixed Martial Arts film (Never Back Down was nothing but a bad Karate Kid adaptation), let me just say this is not the film you are looking for. If you're looking for hardcore fights and awesome action, you'll be hugely disappointed. This is a David Mamet film through and through, that just happens to be partially set in the world of MMA. It's a drama, it's slow, it's talky, it's (intentionally) confusing, and it's unconventional. Does that make it a bad film? No.

The story, like most Mamet works, is almost noirish. It's got conspiracies, twists, and dark moments, yet its focus remains truly on the main character. The ending, which some find confusing, makes complete sense to me and truly fits the story and gives the title its meaning.

Chiwetol Ejiofor's performance alone makes it worth watching. He is one of the most underrated actors working today, and his work here confirms that yet again.

I would recommend this film to anyone, but just know what it is. If you go in expecting a movie about fighting, you'll just feel betrayed and misled.
If you like Mamet's work, I also recommend "Spartan" starring Val Kiilmer.

Very interesting and well done documentary on Bayard Rustin, an openly gay civil rights and gay rights activist, active for over fifty years.

The reason that I was especially curious about him is that he was gay for one, and also raised in my neck of the woods.

Inspiring and informative, I was totally engrossed by it.

    Directed by: Gil Kenan
Starring: Mitchel Musso, Sam Lerner, Spencer Locke, Steve Buscemi, Maggie Gyllenhaal

    Genre: Animation/Family/Fantasy/Mystery

    Running time: 91 minutes

    My review:

I find Monster House a very underrated animated film that should have earned more appreciation that it deserves. This film is a fine example on friendship and commitment to risk your life for the sake of everyone else which is what these three young kids do. Young DJ always knew there was something strange about the old Nebbercracker house across the street. When the house becomes a living, breathing monster, DJ enlists his pals Chowder and Jenny to learn the secret that keeps the house alive. Suddenly, they find themselves in a hair-raising battle with an unstoppable entity and the save the neighbourhood from devastation. This film in opinion is definitely the Best Animated Film of 2006 because it has that dark yet beautiful magic in it which is quite different for an animated film. This film along with Corpse Bride is quite a scary kids film but are absolutely brilliant family films. I was extremely fascinated that this was was produced by two of my 10 favourite directors: Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg. I was even more fascinated by the animation of this film because the animation actions that the characters have are the real life actions of the voice cast. I figured out that whatever movements that the actors were doing in the film were the movements that the characters in the film used. I think the voice acting performances from the young actors were all really good. Mitchel Musso is DJ, Sam Lener is Chowder and Spencer Locke is Jenny. There are some voice appearances from Maggie Gyllenhaal who is the voice of Zee, Steve Buscemi as the voice of Nebbercracker, Catherine O Hara as DJs mum, Fred Willard as DJs dad and Jason Lee as Bones. I really liked every single character in this film but the character I liked the most is Chowder because this film obviously seems like a scary animated film but Chowder brings some comedy into it. He comes up with a lot of funny humourous comments in this film. When he becomes afraid of something especially the house, I find that the character is quite similar to Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter films because Ron moans and whimpers and even cries when he is seriously afraid of something. It is like Chowder is like half brave and half coward at the same time which is just like Ron. The script is really well written for a film that is so bizarre and that nobody has never seen before. It isnt very often you watch or hear of a film that a house has become a monster. It is probably the darkest of all animated films but for good reason aswell. Maybe this film may bring up young kids confidences with their phobic fears. Things like being scared of the dark, scared of ghosts and monsters (when obviously they arent real) and even self discovery about themselves just like DJ, Chowder and Jenny self discovered themselves as brave and honourable children who are willing to risk their lives for everyone elses safety. Monster House would have made an awesome Tim Burton animated film. I really loved this film a lot from start to finish. It almost made my favourite films list but wasnt quite good enough to get to that place but it certainly earned the place in the list of my favourite animated films of all time.

On the Waterfront On the Waterfront

On The Waterfront is a masterpiece from Elia Kazan (the director who brought you A Streetcar Named Desire). Marlon Brando gives one of the screens most electrifying performances and was named Best Leading Actor at the 1954 Academy Awards for this film. Ex-fighter Terry Malloy (Marlon Brando) could have been a contender, but not toils for boss Johnny Friendly (Lee J. Cobb) on the gang-ridden waterfront. Terry is guilt-striken, however, when he lures a rebellious worker to his death, but it takes the love of Edie Doyle (Eva Marie Saint), the dead mans sister, to show Terry how long he has fallen. When his crooked brother Charley the Gent (Rod Steiger) is brutally murdered for refusing to kill him, Terry battles to crush Friendlys underworld empire. I really liked Terry Malloys character in this film because he is a really heroic character that will stop at nothing to get his redemption. This film is about love and commitment to do what you need to do. Terry works around the docks of New York and New Jersey. Terry is a poor ex-boxer. When Terry starts his job he gets himself into a serious problem with evil boss Johnny Friendly. Terry is heroic in another way. He is heroic because he falls in love with Edie Doyle and he tries to support her and be there for her after her brother was murdered but there is a terrifying truth that Edie learns about her brothers death that twists the whole film and makes a major impact on each of the characters. I got mixed up with the relationship between Terry and Edie because I was unsure whether they were both fully in love with each other and that it was because that she was very confused about who killed her brother. At first, I had the suspicion she was using Terry and that Terry was using her aswell but they both just fell in love with each other. Marlon Brando delivers probably his most famous performance as Terry (other close ones ? A Streetcar Named Desire, Last Tango In Paris and The Godfather). Terry acts like a hard man but a really soft emotional man with a big heart. Marlon Brando sort of surprised me a bit because Marlon is good as hard hitmen and villains like he is a villain in Apocalypse Now and A Streetcar Named Desire but a gangster in The Godfather. Marlon pulled it off and delivers probably one of the greatest male performances of all time. I was really impressed with Eva Marie Saints performance aswell as Edie Doyle because Eva seriously looked like an obsessed and quite deranged young woman who wants to find her brothers killer. I really liked Lee J. Cobb in this film too. He was really cold and a vile person which made his casting almost perfect for the character. On The Waterfront is an unforgettable drama about Terrys redemption that his without a doubt one of the most acclaimed films of all time.

There's a little too much cheese in this sandwich, if you know what I mean....

But I greatly respect Chad Allen for being gay and doing a gay movie that is not totally shallow and lame. Ya, there's some cheese, but it's also entertaining, and there's a lesson,

Plus, Mike and I both think he's all sorts of cute, so that's a bonus, haha/

I imagine this film might have a small audience on my list on here, but the ones that think they might like it, will like it.

Miss Pettigrew is a simple film, but it's also incredibly enjoyable, and has a great cast (I love McDormand and Pace as well).

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2) Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2)
    4.5 Stars by Fish
The mythical world starts a rebellion against humanity in order to rule the Earth, so as Hellboy and his team returns they must save the world from the rebellious creatures. Now, as the creatures who inhabit the spiritual realm gear-up for an all out attack on the human plane, the only one capable of saving the Earth is a tough-talking hellspawn rejected by both worlds.

'Hellboy 2: The Golden Army' is irrefutably a whole lot better than the first Hellboy. While I wouldn't consider the first Hellboy a bad film but let's face it, that one had its fair share of "Bad Things That Shouldn't Be in A Movie" but still I enjoyed it especially because of the dual blade wielding Nazi masked man Karl Ruprecht Kroenen. Now that's what I call a bonafide villain. That guy basically has the word 'evil' all over him. This one however, had a better villain (Sorry Karl), in the form of exiled Prince of the mythical world Nuada. He wants to control the legendary "Golden Army" and let it wreak havoc in our planet and in order to do that, he must have the pieces of the crown that controls the indestructible army.

Hellboy 2 had 10x the fun of the first one, the action was 10x grander and in epic scale and the work done in the costume design was superbly done. Visionary director Guillermo Del Toro isolated the use of CGI to correlate with the make-up and costume design of the monsters and the outcome is visually stunning. A new addition to the BPRD was more than welcome, ectoplasmic entity (Gasbag according to Hellboy) Johann Krauss voiced by Seth McFarlane who did a fine job voicing the character by the way.

One thing that you'll notice in this film (besides the much improved storyline) is that they turned the fun-factor up a notch. Even up until now I still can't get the drunken karaoke duet of Hellboy and Abe in the tune of Barry Manilow's "Can't Smile Without You" out my noggin. What was Del Toro thinking?! It was so random and out of the blue. But I have to say, it worked pretty damn well. I lol'd.

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army is a 4.5/5
It got a whole lot better the second time around. Highly recommended.

I really liked this film first time around, but second time round I loved it even more. This is a masterpiece from master actor and director Clint Eastwood. This film is one of the most depressing and dramatic films that I have ever seen in my life. Driven apart by a childhood trauma, three men meet again when Jimmy's daughter is murdered, cop Sean investigates and loner Dave emerges as a likely suspect. Soon an air of vigilantism begins to poison their Boston neighbourhood. Sean Penn delivers one outstanding performance as Jimmy Markum. He probably did deserve his Oscar but it was a tight one with the other nominees between Sean Penn in this, Bill Murray in Lost In Translation and Johnny Depp in Pirates Of The Caribbean. Seans performance was more of a dramatic performance which probably did get him the Oscar that he deserved. Jimmy is a snobbish ex-con who runs a neighbourhood store. He is friends with Sean who is portrayed by Kevin Bacon and Dave is portrayed by Tim Robbins. Tim Robbins was absolutely fantastic as Dave Boyle. He deserved his Oscar in this film. Dave is like a tortured and an extremely dangerous soul after he was kidnapped and possibly raped by elderly aged male paedophiles. This affects Daves life and never seems to let go and it sort of haunts him. His wife becomes sort of afraid of him and is unsure what he is capable of. He is like possessed because he doesnt know what he has done and he doesn?t know what he hasnt done. Dave is the most emotional character in the whole film and Tim delivers the most emotional performance in this film too. Marcia Gay Harden gives out another emotional performance as Celest Boyle. This film has a place in everyones heart from all of the characters in it. This has now become of my all time favourite drama films and has now become on my favourite films list now. Definitely my favourite Clint Eastwood (director) film so far. Masterpiece!!

I agree with the comment of a friend on here that, while still good, this documentary is not as good as The Celluloid Closet, Its scope is not as big and it doesn;t go into as much detail. I got the sense that this documentary was made moreso in an effort to promote films and less to educate the LGBT community.

That being said, it was still good and reminded me of a lot of films I still need to see. And the interview snippets were good.

Good for any gay man or lesbian, or any fan of film in general.
