1
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
This is the best made of any of the StarWars movies. It has the best story and yes...the best dialogue.
2
Back to the Future (1985,  PG)
Back to the Future
They've been remaking a lot of 80's movies of late and this is one movie that should never ever....ever be remade. It's a smart touching and fun movie about time travel where a teenager (Michael J. Fox) is stuck in the 50's.

He meets his parents and teaches his father to stand up for himself against a bully named Biff and to follow his dreams. That's another way to look at the movie anyway lol.
3
Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) (1981,  PG)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark)
Raiders of the Lost Ark is literly the best adventure film ever made. I just wish their were a lot more Indiana Jones movies. During all the time they took finding a script they liked for a part 4, they could've made 7 more sequels lol.
4
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring
This is my favorite of the trilogy. It's the best fantasy movie ever I think.
5
Aliens (1986,  R)
Aliens
The lone survivor of the original film, Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is back. Her ship returns to earth 57 years later and no one believes her about aliens. That is until a space station isn't from for awhile. Ripley and a crew of marines is then sent to find out why.

Aliens is bigger and better than the original with not just one alien but a bunch. It's a great sequel with breathtaking action and Sigourney Weaver in top form. You also have a good list of supporting actors like Michael Biehn, Bill Paxton and Lance Henriksen.
6
The Matrix (1999,  R)
The Matrix
A mind blowing experience that is superior to it's sequels by far. It has a great story, fantastic action, good science fiction and even kun-fu. This movie just rocks and if only the sequels were this fun!
7
Heat (1995,  R)
Heat
Heat to be is the best cop & robber movie that you could possibly ever see. Especially when the cop is Al Pacino and robbers are Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer and Tom Sizemore.

The film doesn't only offer fine performances and awesome shoot-outs but it surprisingly has a heart as well. We understand why both Pacino and De Niro do what they do and that they both have good qualities and bad qualities. They even sit down and get to know each other over a cop of coffee right before an awesome bank robbery scene. While the ending of the movie is also one of my favorites to any movie. It ends to one of the best musical scores I have ever heard, it's both moving and powerful. If only this Michael Mann made the Miami Vice movie.
8
Ghost Busters (Ghostbusters) (1984,  PG)
Ghost Busters (Ghostbusters)
I can watch this over and over and over again. It doesn't matter if it's Halloween or not. But yeah it's good for Halloween too.

I love this movie, it still manages feel fresh and funny no matter how many times I've seen it.
9
The Goonies (1985,  PG)
10
Superman II (1981,  PG)
Superman II
A sequel that's surprisingly just as good as the original.
11
Superman (1978,  PG)
12
Batman (1989,  PG-13)
Batman
In this Batman film he's taken seriously and you don't get shots of his butt in the Bat costume. Joel Schumacher was obsessed with shots of Batman's butt for some reason lol. The movie is perfectly dark and sometimes comical. It doesn't over-due the campiness like Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.

While the under-rated Michael Keaton gives us a fine Bruce Wayne that's still haunted by the death of his parents. It's also brilliant how their murder is linked to the Joker. The "You Made Me and I made You" stuff between the Joker and Batman is well done.

When you think about it though the script is still thin though. I mean yes the Joker is perfectly evil here but what's his real game plan ? It works that he's really not as happy as his difigurement makes him look. So he wants to disfigure other people as well. But other than that his obsession with Vicky Vale doesn't work that well. What does he want from her ? Disfigure her like he did his ex-girlfriend ? Or just dance with her on the top floor of an abandoned church ? lol.

I always had such a ball watching this movie that I never thought of such things. Jack Nicholson is so good as the Joker that I never thought about how the movie doesn't have a solid plot.

I do still think that Roger Ebert's review was unfair though. He even picked on it saying that Keaton and Basinger have no chemestry. I think they work fine together but in a Batman film who cares about their romance ? The film still delivers and what really mattered is that Keaton and Nicholson played off of each other great. Besides, Batman Begins may be a good movie but Batman just handing a kid part of his costume bugged me as much as Alfred letting Vicky Vale into the Batcave.
13
Batman Begins (2005,  PG-13)
Batman Begins
It takes Batman as serious as he should be taken although Burton's films did take him serious as well.

But it has more of a human touch than Burton's films since his were done as if they were classic monster films. Plus Christian Bale portrays both Batman and Bruce Wayne probably the best.

Although Keaton didn't do bad and I admit Val Kilmer wasn't a bad Bruce Wayne either. But mostly because as Bruce Wayne Kilmer had better lines than he did as Batman.

Batman Begins also has villains that don't laugh every 30 seconds or have horrible one-liners. Cillian Murphy is creepy as the Scare Crow but one flaw with Nolan's Batman films is that he's not as much of a threat as he could be. Sure, he poisons Batman and sets him on fire...lol but it would have been nice if he had as much screen time as the Joker does in Dark Knight. Liam Neeson though gets more to do and I'll just say that if you never seen the movie.
14
Gremlins (1984,  PG)
15
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991,  R)
16
Scream (1996,  R)
Scream
The opening scene alone makes the film perfect to watch on Halloween.

Scream reinvents the horror genre while making fun of it. It's the only horror movie I could ever watch over and over again. It's fresh and funny and I love the cast. The beginning alone is classic.

A lot of the cast members have their most memorable roles here. David Arquette for instance is more likeable here and less annoying than he is in movies that followed this. While I loved Neve Campbell for a long time after these movies lol.
17
Mad Max 2 (The Road Warrior) (1981,  R)
Mad Max 2 (The Road Warrior)
Mad Max movies kick ass and this one kicks the most. It has the best action and the best story.
18
Almost Famous (2000,  R)
Almost Famous
It offers great music and great performances. It's one of the best rock films ever. It also has a nice innocence to it that you don't get from a lot of movies.
19
Lethal Weapon 2 (1989,  R)
Lethal Weapon 2
I love this one, the action is great and Gibson and Glover's chemestry is even better than it was in the first.

Joe Pesci is funny in his first appearance in a Lethal Weapon film as well. He wasn't that needed in the 3rd and 4th films though. I also thought the Russian woman was adorable. I can watch this one again and again without getting tired of it.
20
Die Hard (1988,  R)
Die Hard
Die Hard is the film that made Bruce Willis an action star. This first film of the series is the best due to being the smartest and the best acted. It's also the only action film that manages to make me shed a few tears. No scene ever gets to me like the one where Reginald VelJohnson fires his gun.
21
Men in Black (1997,  PG-13)
Men in Black
When I first saw it in the movies, I wasn't that blown away. When I saw it again on video though I loved it and can't help watching it every time I see it on tv.

Men in Black is one of Barry Sonnenfeld's better movies before he cursed himself by making Wild Wid West. It's funny and unlike the sequel it's fresh and original.

Smith and Jones have chemestry and make a good team but the supporting cast is fine too. Vincent D'Onofrio is perfectly vicious as a sleazy villian alien that sort of reminds me of my dad...lol. Linda Fiorentino was needed in the sequel. She's great as a odd woman who works at a morgue and always discovers the existance of aliens and needs the flashy memory erasing thingy used on her. Rip Torn and Tony Shalhoub are also well casted.
22
Lost In Translation (2003,  R)
Lost In Translation
I'm not sure why some people don't like this movie but I loved it. Bill Murray should have won best actor. I mean, Sean Penn is nominated pretty much every year lol. Murray has never been nominated again, so I wish he won.

I also I liked the Tokyo atmosphere and the chemistry between Murray and Scarlett Johansson. While Anna Faris has some funny scenes where she does karaoke. The movie is a tad over-rated but I still really like it for what it is. It's an innocent romantic movie that's different and smarter than most romantic comedies.
23
Dark City (1998,  R)
Dark City
I wish this director made movies more often, he's great. Plus this movie is one of the best Sic-fi movies you'll ever see. It's great to look at and extremely entertaining.
24
Time Bandits (1981,  PG)
25
X2 (2003,  PG-13)
26
Casino Royale (2006,  PG-13)
27
Stand by Me (1986,  R)
28
Lethal Weapon (1987,  R)
Lethal Weapon
Murtaugh, a cop feeling his age, is stuck with a new partner. His name is Riggs (Mel Gibson) and he has a bit of a death wish after losing his wife. Murtough loses his cool when Riggs actually jumps off the building with a suicidal man.

They of course eventually bond and when Murtaugh''s daughter is kidnapped, Riggs just might be his only hope in getting her back. The movie is fun with a good action. However, it just gets a little silly when the police just sit back and let Riggs have a 1 on 1 fight on Murtaugh's front lawn. I can watch it over and over again, but for some reason I love the 2nd one even more.
29
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004,  PG)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
I can watch this one without ever getting tired of it. It has a smart story without everything centered around Harry and Lord Voldermortt and I think that's why I like it so much.

It's magical and goofy and it has it's dark moments as well. It cuts some out from the books but at least it makes time for a Quiditch scene. Quiditch is important to Harry in the books and in the movies since this he hasn't mentioned it once.

There's no Voldermort like I said but the movie still packs a punch. It has werewolves, time travel and creepy cloaked figures called Dementors. It also has some good twists. So I can careless that Harry, Ron and Hermione are dressed casual in the movie. That bugged some fans but to me it' doesn't hold it back from being an entertaining Potter movie.
30
Strange Days (1995,  R)
31
Tombstone (1993,  R)
32
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) (2001,  PG)
33
Training Day (2001,  R)
34
Jaws (1975,  PG)
35
Willow (1988,  PG)
Willow
No, Willow totally did not suck lol. Hell, as a kid it was one of my best times at the movies. Probably seen it like 3 times.

Willow is one of the best fantasy films of the 80's. It was ripped apart from critics who expected more from George Lucas and Ron Howard.

I can see why people would be disapointed by StarWars Episode 1. It was slow with too much bad dialogue. Willow at least delivers a great fantasy that's always entertaining. I was never bored watching it, which I can't say about Episode 1. So in no way is Willow a let down. It's also one of Val Kilmer's most memorable performances.
36
Blade Runner (1982,  R)
Blade Runner
This is a movie I can't help giving an extremely high rating, even if I could always barely understand it lol. It's visually stunning, hard to look away from and truly original.

It's a masterpiece with wonderful acting. Rutger Hauer was totally totally screwed out of a nomination. Hell he should've won. Edward James Olmos also manages to give a complexed performance for a guy that barely has any lines in the movie. While a young Daryl Hannah also does some of her best work. Possibly Sean Young should've also of gotten a nomination here as well.

Harrison Ford is good in the lead but he's a little outshadowed here. Everyone else is a little more interesting even if you have the sub-plot of "is he a replicant ?".
37
Gladiator (2000,  R)
Gladiator
It wasn't really best picture worthy but it's still really good. The performances are all fine, while the action is exciting as well.
38
North by Northwest (1959,  Unrated)
North by Northwest
This is one of Hitchcock's most exciting and fun movies to watch. It's a true classic.
39
Iron Man (2008,  PG-13)
Iron Man
Iron Man is Marvel's best movie since Spiderman, Spiderman 2 and X-Men 2. It can be a little slow which is why it has been compared to the Hulk. It's a lot more fun than the Hulk was though.

Plus even if it slowly picks up, Robert Downey Jr. is entertaining through-out as Tony Stark. So you're never bored with Iron Man. The supporting cast is excellent as well. Gwyneth Paltrow keeps up with Downey Jr's quick wit with some quick wit of her own. The two also have some great chemistry.

While Terrence Dashon Howard is fine as Stark's friend in the military. A bald Jeff Bridges does a good job as Stark's business partner as well. The movie has action it's cool and very well done. Another reason why it shouldn't be compared to the Hulk is because it never makes you scratch your head saying "what's going on ?". It's more involving and more of a crowd pleaser than the Hulk as well.
40
Dick Tracy (1990,  PG)
41
E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial (1982,  PG)
E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial
It's a true family classic that's incredibly well made and it has a fantastic and unforgettable musical score by John Williams.
42
Being John Malkovich (1999,  R)
Being John Malkovich
Being John Malkovich is a truly original and totally odd film. It's about a failed puppeteer (John Cusack) who discovers a portel into John Malkovich. There he learns that he can actually control him and live his life as him.
43
Spider-Man (2002,  PG-13)
Spider-Man
Sam Raimi at his best knowing what a Spiderman film should be like. Spiderman 3, he was more concerned with effects than he was story.
44
Spider-Man 2 (2004,  PG-13)
Spider-Man 2
A little over-rated but still was much better done than Spiderman 3. It has more going for it, a lot more.
45
Flight of the Navigator (1986,  PG)
46
The Sixth Sense (1999,  PG-13)
47
The Departed (2006,  R)
48
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983,  PG)
49
The Naked Gun - From the Files of Police Squad! (1988,  PG-13)
The Naked Gun - From the Files of Police Squad!
If you need a good laugh then this movie is for you. Especially if you are a baseball fan. It's baseball scene is funnier than all 3 Major League films and that's not a lie.
50
Collateral (2004,  R)
51
X-Men (2000,  PG-13)
52
The Usual Suspects (1995,  R)
The Usual Suspects
This is an incredibly well made brain twisting mobster/mystery. Roger Ebert gave it * 1/2 and I think it got 2 thumbs down too. That goes to show you that critics know nothing! If you haven't seen it, check it out!
53
The Lost Boys (1987,  R)
The Lost Boys
Lost Boys is a very entertaining vampire flick even if it has it's cheesey moments. I used to find both Corey's annoying in this but now I just find Haim annoying in it. Feldman's Rambo impersonation bothers me less now. I even find it entertaining now. Haim though is too whiney.

Patric and Sutherland pretty much own the movie. I also liked the guy who played the grandfather. He was perfectly strange and entertaining. Jami Gertz also adds some sexiness to the movie, well if you're guy anyway. The movie also offers a kickass soundtrack. Bring on the crappy looking sequel, just kidding. It could've been so much better.
54
Psycho (1960,  R)
Psycho
Who needs the remake ione this one is perfect to begin with. It's certainly not outdated either since it can still scare audiences of today as well.
55
Return to Oz (1985,  PG)
56
The Hunt for Red October (1990,  PG)
57
Groundhog Day (1993,  PG)
58
Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003,  R)
59
Signs (2002,  PG-13)
60
Beetle Juice (Beetlejuice) (1988,  PG)
Beetle Juice (Beetlejuice)
I think I saw Beetlejuice a few times at the theater as well. I loved it as a kid and love it now.
61
Unbreakable (2000,  PG-13)
Unbreakable
I like this movie a lot more than most people. I do see where it's very slow with some flaws. I mean the guy is middle aged, yet he's just figuring out now that he can't get hurt. He also is just figuring out now that when he touches people he can see the crimes they have committed.

Despite those flaws, it's still one of M. Night Shyamalan's best movies. It's engaging and well acted. Shyamalan didn't make sequels due to many people not liking the film. I think a sequel could have been promising since this film only introduced Willis' character and his abilities. A sequel could have had him using them a lot more against bad people .

Once Unbreakable gets moving along, it's very good. I love the chemistry between Willis and the kid who plays his son. The scene where Willis tests how much weight he can lift as his son keeps adding more and more pounds, is one of my favorite scenes . Bruce Willis was really good, it's just the direction that could have been more lively.
62
The Lookout (2007,  R)
The Lookout
An incredibly well made and well acted film that's gripping and entertaining. Sure it's Memento with a bank robbery basically but it's an interesting combination.

Plus the under-rated Joseph Gordon-Levitt gives an oscar worthy performance. Jeff Danials is also great as his blind friend. If Alan Arkin could win an oscar for playing a dead guy in a trunk, then Jeff Daniels should be nominated and win as well!
63
Toy Story 2 (1999,  G)
64
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005,  PG-13)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The darkest no doubt but also one of the best
65
The Fisher King (1991,  R)
66
Insomnia (2002,  R)
67
Three Kings (1999,  R)
68
Total Recall (1990,  R)
Total Recall
This is Arnold's best movie that isn't a James Cameron movie. It's also one of the best sci-fi movies ever made despite the huge ammount of violence.
69
The Untouchables (1987,  R)
The Untouchables
The Untouchables is no doubt Brian DePalma's best movie. It stars Kevin Costner as Elliot Ness who wants to bring down Al Capone (Robert De Niro).

He forms a friendship and partnership with an old officer well played by Sean Connery. He also gets help from a young cop played by Andy Garcia and Charles Martin Smith as I think a Lawyer.

The movie makes a good mob film due to De Niro's ruthlessness as Capone. He even gets to say "are you talking to me". It also offers some gripping scenes such as a baby carriage rolling down the stairs during a shoot-out.
70
Predator (1987,  R)
71
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989,  PG-13)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
I really like this one bus mostly due to the chemestry between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery as father and son. The late River Phoenix made a great young Indiana in the beginning as well.

It also offers some fine action and a good plot with Indiana trying to find the Holy Grail. Nazis are back and after the Grail as well. I just wish they made a 4th film before Sean Connery retired. Him and Ford together again would've been great.
72
Jurassic Park (1993,  PG-13)
Jurassic Park
In Jurassic Park, Spielberg brought Dinosaurs back to life with convincing visual effects. Some critics complained that the movie didn't have enough "ohh and ahhh" moments and that it turned into an action adventure. But if the movie was all about people going "oohh and ahh" over the dinosaurs, I would have got bored.

While the late Gene Siskel claimed that Jeff Goldbluim was the best thing in the movie next to the dinosaurs. He claimed that the rest of the cast weren't that interesting. I hate to disagree with a dead mad that I admired, but he was wrong just like he was wrong about...Willow lol.

Sure Goldbluim's wit is fun and he's perfectly strange. But I think Sam Neil was excellent and his performance was under-rated. His performance out of everyone else made you believe that he had a love for dinosaurs. But that when it comes to being alone with alive dinosaurs he rather be anywhere else.

I also think that Neil faired better in part 3 without most of the original cast. Goldbluim on the other hand was better as a supporting character in this film than he was in the 2nd film.
In the 2nd he's too serious for one thing and a lot less entertaining.

Despite Neil and Goldbluim being good there was a lot of other interesting performances. Richard Attenborough deserved a nomination as the man behind Jurassic Park. He brings just a little madness to the role of a man who doesn't want to believe that he was wrong to bring dinosaurs back to life.
73
The Crow (1994,  R)
74
Alien (1979,  R)
75
The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King
Has like 5 endings but it's still one of the best fantasies ever made
76
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984,  PG)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
It's a classic in it's own right with some fine action. It's more of a gross out fest than an action fest. I mean some of the stuff it got away with for being a PG movie is shocking.

You have hearts being ripped out, monkey brains being eaten along with snakes and spiders. The gross dinner scene is done for laughs but it's still a scene I have avoided since I was little.

This still probably has the most exciting action though. You have the exciting opening scene and part in the coal mines as well. I still find it silly how they use a raft as a parisuit though and just happen to land into a river. Still though, that's a pretty exciting action scene as well.

Kate Kapsaw as the love interest of Indy though has nothing on Karen Allen who was tougher and less whiney and screechy. The chinese kid in it from Goonies though is a fun sidekick for Indy.
77
Ed Wood (1994,  R)
Ed Wood
This is Tim Burton's best work next Sweeney Todd. I have no idea why he wasn't even nominated for it.
78
The Fugitive (1993,  PG-13)
The Fugitive
The Fugitive is a summer movie that didn't disapoint. It has well done chases and a smart script. It also has Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones both in top form.
79
Misery (1990,  R)
Misery
I never read the book, so I can't tell you if it was a good adaption to it. I just know that I love this movie.

James Caan plays a writer who's injured in a car accident. He's found by Anne (Kathy Bates) who's a ex-nurse and his number 1# fan. She takes him in and takes care of him .

That may sound nice of her, but too bad she's totally nuts. No one knows he's in her cabin, but her. She is also pissed when she learns that he killed off her favorite characters of his novels. So she forces him to write another book where she's not really dead.

Kathy Bates is incredibly scary and twisted. She's also brilliant with how she's sweet one second and a total monster the next. James Caan is also solid though and they have excellent chemistry.
80
Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1986,  R)
Down and Out in Beverly Hills
Richard Dreyfus and Bette Midler star as a rich couple that take in a homeless man (Nick Nolte). Dreyfuss invites him to stay as long as he wants and Midler is a snob that doesn't want him there.

I'd say that the heart of the movie is Richard Dreyfuss and Nick Nolte. They're pretty fun together. The scene where Nolte gets Dreyfuss to spend the night with the homeless is hilarious. I also love how Nolte trains the dog.

Better Midler is a little annoying at first but is a little likable as the movie goes on. The sexually confused son is annoying through-out though.
81
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl
It has pirates and un-dead pirates, so yeah I suppose it's good for Halloween.

I like this movie a lot although I don't see it as being as special as most women do lol. It's entertaining and a better pirate movie than critics give it credit for.
82
Coraline (2009,  PG)
Coraline
Coraline is about a girl named Coraline that feels she's ignored by her workaholic parents. They are both writers and never have time for her. In their new home, she finds a secret doorway.

At first it's blocked by bricks until one night when she follows a mouse to it. There's no bricks and in it is a small crawl space. Inside leads to an alternate world where everyone has buttons for eyes. Her parents are nicer and always feed her great food.

But she soon realizes that this wonderful happy place isn't everything it seems to be. The film is creepy and haunting at times. So it's not for small children. It does have a good lesson about being happy with what you have though. It's also worth seeing at IMAX in 3-D. My only complaint is that the animation isn't totally perfect at times. The movement is just a little off.
83
Walk the Line (2005,  PG-13)
Walk the Line
Walk the Line is a great movie due to many different reasons. The performances by Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon are incredible for one.

Phoenix though, I think is the one that should've won an Oscar. He sounds exactly like Johny Cash if you listen to the real singers in the credits. Reese Witherspoon does a great singing job but she sounds nothing like the woman.

I also liked Robert Patrick as Cash's father. Besides the acting being strong, the music scenes are well done and very entertaining. The drama and love story also wheels you in.
84
RocknRolla (2008,  R)
RocknRolla
RocknRolla I think is easily Guy Richie's best film. I don't think there's much character development going on. But it's such a good time that I didn't care. It's stylish and fun and pretty near as good as Pulp Fiction.

The film has a great cast and a kick ass score. The music almost steals the show it's so good. However, Toby Kebbell as a junkie is the actor that steals the show. Everyone is good, but it's Kebbell who's performance was Oscar worthy.

I should also mention that I think Gerald Butler also does his best work. The way he reacts when one of his friends in his gang confesses to wanting him, is hilarious. While his dance scene with Thandie Newton is about as strange and fun as John Travolta's with Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction.

Speaking of Newton she's her sexiest here as Butler's boss who sends him on life threating errands that she sees as easy jobs. While Tom Wilkinson gives one of his best performances as a scummy mob boss. No one plays that part better than Wilkinson I think. He was awesome in Batman Begins and is just as good here. The actor who played Archie was also brilliant, I think it's Mark Strong, not sure.
85
Memento (2000,  R)
86
Watchmen (2009,  R)
Watchmen
An ex-group of heroes find themselves back together after one of their own is killed. They teamed up in the 60's but now it's the 80's and super heroes are outlawed by President Nixon.

Now Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley) is out to bring them back together. While Dr. Manhattan, the only one with actual powers isn't even sure whether he wants to give up on humans or not. His girlfriend Silk Spectre II (Malin Akerman) is his only link to humanity.

However since Dr. Manhattan's so obsessed with his work, he's pushing Spectre into the arms of Nite Owl II (Patrick Wilson of Lakeview Terrace). But it's a bad time for Manhattan to give up on humans since bombs are about to drop and he's the only chance in stopping them.

The movie is often brutally violent and disturbing even. It's far darker than Sin City and the Dark Knight. So don't expect a totally fun super hero adventure. Just expect a complicated but entertaining movie. It has it's share of fun action but some might find that it doesn't have enough action. I still found it fascinating though with some great visuals.

I didn't really care that there was a lot of talk. I loved the characters and the performances. Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Supernatural season 1, Grey's Anatomy), gives a star making performance like many reviews have said. However, I think Patrick Wilson is also surprisingly excellent as a former hero who won't admit that he misses doing it. While he has excellent chemistry with Malin Akerman.

Jackie Earle Haley's performance is a little under-rated as well, I heard some complaints over it anyway. Yes, he sounds a lot like Christian Bale's Batman when he talks. Yet, he still probably gives the most engaging performance in the movie next to Billy Crudup. He totally owned the character as well.
87
WALL-E (2008,  G)
WALL-E
WALL.E is probably my favorite movie of the year so far. It's original, imaginitive and actually one of the best science fictions movies. It's also fun while being sweet, charming and romantic.

It's smart as well with how mankind is off getting fat on a ship after they ruined earth. They are so used to technology doing everything for them that they don't even walk. With how things are going now...it could happen lol.

Låt den Rätte Komma In (Let the Right One in) (2008,  R)
Låt den Rätte Komma In (Let the Right One in)
Let the Right One In is about a 12 yr old boy named Oskar who's tormented by bullies at school. A new girl moves in to his apartment building and appears to be the same age as him. They become friends and she gives him the courage to stand up to the bullies. He starts to fall for her and wants to go steady with her but he doesn't know that she's actually a vampire.

The movie is dark and twisted, yet their relationship is kind of sweet. Despite the film being creepy and haunting, it also manages to be likable due to the 2 young leads. The only thing that skeeved me out though, is that they didn't have to show the girl's private area. You know an American film wouldn't have got away with
that.

Despite that though I would still recommend it to those who wish Twilight was less romantic, mushy and whimsical. Let the Right One In is kind of romantic but unlike Twilight, you get a good dose of old fashion horror. The direction has an old school feel to it and the film even has the look of a movie from the late 70's or early 80's.

The Dark Knight (2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight was simply incredible. Spiderman 3 was a disappointment after all the wait. The Dark Knight however is even better than I hoped for. It takes Batman and the villains seriously. So you don't get shots of Batman's butt or him saying awful lines, like "I don't fit in at a family pic-nic", or "it's the car, chicks dig the car". While the villains don't act like something from the 60's tv series.

The Dark Knight has Batman (Christian Bale), Gordon (Gary Oldman) and Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) teaming up to bring down criminals. They aren't doing a bad job; a new criminal named the Joker (Heath Ledger) just might be more than they can handle though. He's a twisted and creepy villain with no compassion for anyone. He threatens to kill a different person until Batman reveals who he is. Which starts to become too much for Bruce Wayne since people he cares about start to become targets.

The movie is an ingenious masterpiece with many twists and turns. You never know what to expect from the movie. Despite being a super hero film it also works as a thriller/mob movie. Sometimes I even had a hard time convincing myself that Michael Mann wasn't the director lol.

Comic fans should still be pleased though. Heath Ledger is amazing as the Joker and it's sad that he won't have a long career of playing the part. He's creepy, twisted, funny and menacing in the role. What also helps the movie is that everyone else is in top form as well. While Christopher Nolan knows how to handle having more than one villain, unlike Sam Raimi with Spiderman 3. He does have a task ahead of him though to try and top this with a 3rd film. I don't see that happening but I can't wait for more either way.

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3) (1974,  R)
The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3)
Robert Shaw (Jaws) stars as an armed man that calls himself Mr. Blue that hijacks a subway with 18 passengers.Walter Mathau (The Bad News Bears) plays a transit cop that takes his demands but while listening closely and using his brain during his conversations with Mr. Blue.

The movie isn't for viewers of today that are used to big explosions and non-stop action. If you want that, then the remake is for you. It's smart and entertaining with and excellent cast. Mathau and Shaw are incredible and I wish they could have been with us forever. I don't even know why Walter Mathau movies even get remade. I'm sure Denzel is great in the new movie but it just wasn't needed. I recommend seeing this movie instead. Mathau's fantastic and it's a pleasure to watch how he plays this character that's full of wisecracks but that's also no dummy. The end is perfect without Mathau even having to fire one shot from his gun. I doubt that can be said for the Tony Scott remake.
