| Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian - PG |
Ben Stiller is back as Larry Daley, but not as the night watchman at the museum anymore. He's now doing flashlight commercials. When his friends are transferred to a huge museum and the amulet that brings them to life is too; it's up to Larry to stop the evil Ra (Hank Azaria) from raising his army. With his friends locked in a cell block, he gets help from Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams) and General George Custer (Bill Hadar). The movie is funner than the first with more excitement and laughs. Amy Adams is the best new addition to the cast as the gun-ho Amelia Earhart. Bill Hadar is very funny as well. Hank Azaria tries hard but a lot of his scenes with Ben Stiller are more annoying than they are funny since their arguments drag on and on. Jonah Hill's scene with Ben Stiller is more annoying than it is funny as well since that scene drags on too long as well. |

| Shorts (Shorts: The Adventures of the Wishing Rock) - PG |
I don't think any director is more in sink with a child's imagination than Robert Rodriquez. I mean, he's such a kid that he had to include a giant booger monster in this movie. Which kids will find funny, grown-ups will be grossed out however. Still, I was entertained by the scenes that didn't include nose picking, small boogers or giant boogers. Which is most of the movie at least. The movie is fun and the kids have chemistry. Especially Jimmy Bennett (Orphan, young James T. Kirk in Star Trek) and Jolie Vanier as the girl bully. Their scenes together are actually more of a show stealer than the magic rock. Still, I can't say the film is better than Spy KIds 1 or 2, but it is at least much better than part 3. |

| Surfer, Dude - R |
I think the Matthew McConaughey that showed talent in a Time to Kill is long gone. Now, I think he just works-out, lights up a joint and yells...Action! This movie is right up his alley....an hour and 28 minutes of being shirtless. The plot ? Matthew McConaughey plays a surfer, he smokes weed, has sex a lot and walks around shirtless through-out. There's also a lot of T&A. There's not much surfing since there hasn't been many waves of late in the film. There's mostly just scenes of him doing virtual surfing, but he rather just do the real thing and be a surfer....dude!. The movie is dull. If you want to see a movie that has great surfing scenes, then check out Point Break. |

| Penelope - PG |
Christina Ricci stars as Penelope, a girl born with a pig nose due to a family curse. Her mother (Catherine O'Hara) faked her death to keep reporters off their back. But she secretly has men over to meet Penelope to see if they'd be willing to break the curse. With one look at Penelope be though, they run. But they are forced to sign a contract saying they won't tell anyone about Penelope. James McAvoy plays the only man who doesn't run after seeing her. But that's because he's hired by a reporter (Peter Dinklage) and a shallow rich boy to snap a picture of her. He does like being around her but leaves due to thinking he can't break the curse. Penelope then leaves her home for the first time to get some freedom. She then meets a fun loving biker chick (Reese Witherspoon) who accepts her. It's not the best fairytale type of movie I have seen but the performances make it worth watching. Especially, Christina Ricci's, McAvoy and the very best midget actor I know of, Peter Dinklage. I'm a Reese Witherspoon fan but she has very little to do. So little to do, that she doesn't have enough time to make an impression. While Catherine O'Hara is good as always, but when she's looking for Penelope, I was thinking of Home Alone and was expecting her to yell "Kevin!" lol. |

| The Christmas Star - Unrated | Ed Asner's character escapes prison and convinces some kids that he's Santa Claus. He has it planned to steal some money and use the children to help him do the job. The movie is more magical than it sounds and since I grew up with it, I think it's a Holiday Classic. | November 28, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Alvin and the Chipmunks - PG | Seeing Alvin eat Theodore's poop in the teaser trailer made me expect a really bad raunchy movie. However I was won over by the Chipmunk's singing some newer songs. It's a pretty cute and harnless movie even if the chipmunk's aren't entirely how I remember them from the cartoon series. Hell, they are pretty evil looking lol. | November 28, 2009 | N/A | |||
