| i like the simple things in life. i try to be real, drama-free. i love my dog and two cats. i am a licenced massage therapist and film nut. i like at least a little of each genre. i am a big fan of b-movies from the 50's to the mid 80's. "all my life needed was a sense of someplace to go" "i don't belive that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention" "i belive that someone should become a person like other people" i have also been getting into those old school spaghetti westerns and horror films and cult classics from sergio corbucci, dario argento and lucio fulci. a lot of films that pushed the limits in the 60's to 70's. |

The Dark Knight
by ~Lissa~So I had planned to see this on my birthday and when I went to buy tickets a week before, I shouldn't have been surprised that it was sold out! I had to see it on Imax, which by the way you should too cause it's awesome! So I had to wait a day later but I will say it again, it was worth the wait!
I definitely think it was in the same realm as Batman Begins, but that movie was just the beginning.
I have to disagree with all the critics that say that the only reason why so many people saw it was because of Heath Ledger's untimely death. Do they not know we have been talking about this movie for over a year now? Don't they know how excited we were with each new poster and how much we died to see a new glimpse of the movie???
The Joker was great! He did an excellent job. Totally different from how Jack Nickleson portrayed him, a lot darker, and that was perfect!
Christian Bale is still my favorite pick for Batman. I have to admit though when I first heard him speak, I giggled. It sounded so funny to how Bruce Wayne talked.
Kudos to Christopher Nolan for doing such a great job and I'm excited to see what happens next.
I heard that Two Face looked horrible but when I saw him for the first time, I loved it! I don't know why but that whole skeleton look really did it for me. I wish we could have seen more.
If you waited and talked about this movie as long as I did, I don't think you will be disappointed. Actually, the only disappointment you'll feel is when Batman is driving away and you realize the movie may be finished. I was disappointed that when me and a few others stayed until the credits were done, there wasn't anything there. Wish someone (and I think he knows who he is) would have written his review already!
So what are you waiting for?! Go see this on Imax!i don't know who, what, where, when the watchmen are, is but the trailer looked cool! :)

Ben X
by SerdarNic Balthazar directs his first movie adapted from his own novel. The story is familiar but interesting and the acting is very good. The original aspect of this movie is its cinematography. The director manages to pull us into the world he puts his character to, in a mixture of reality and the fantasy. Ben is a troubled young boy who is picked on all the time..He plays an online video game and identifies with the character he creates there. But real life is bitter and real people are so cruel.. Can Ben put up with this or should he end the game? Can his parents and the girl he meets on the game help him to go on?

Kung Fu Panda
by LadyAfter a bit of a slow start, this film really comes to life about half way through, the animation of course was great, Jack Black's voice completely matched the main character and the ideas and choreography that went into this film was quite something.
This feature length cartoon really has captured something from the Martial Arts movies and with clever little morals for the young ones to catch on to. Kung Fu Panda was a really enjoyable film. One for the kids (adults too?)

Wanted
by LadySome really impressive effects in this film throughout. Well done to James McAvoy for landing this role, of which he played the main character well. The storyline was more impressive than some other graphic novels, despite a lot of it being pretty predictable.
Angelina jolie didn't really put any kind of stamp on it, other than pretty action chick.
Overall a very enjoyable action flick and again, impreesive effects, not sure how much of that came across better as it was on the big screen.Hey, you should really see this!

Just when I thought Sean Bean was past his prime, he pulls off a part that suits him really well.Hey, you should really see this!

The Code
by Lady(Known in the UK as La Mentale) One of the best Gangster style films I've ever seen. Fantastic performces all around especially from Samy Naceri, this had a very realistic feel to it.
A definite recommendationA brilliant film for those who like their sub-titled films.

WALL-E
by ~Lissa~Who knew that a non-talking robot could make a movie so great, and an animation at that!
Wall*E is just one of those movies you must see regardless if it's your type of movie or not.
He's this cute endearing waste collecting robot that's left on Earth to clean up our mess. The humans have left years ago when the planet became too unhabitable.
Wall*E lives a happy life, finding treasures in the trash that he takes home to share with his friend the cockroach.
One of the treasures he finds is a living plant that ultimitely leads to the love of his life, Eve. She is sent down to Earth to determine if it's sustainable and Wall*E falls head over heels for her.
The whole movie moved along so nice and really captures your attention. It was funny to see how much of slobs the humans had become because I can totally see that happening. Robots taking over, that too. Mankind fighting their way back to reclaim Earth, hopefully.
Whether old or young, animation fan or not, go see this movie! I can't imagine you'd regret it!posted 13 days ago -

Sexy Beast
by mayathis one was kind of uneven for me even though i ultimately really enjoyed it. here are the pros: ben kingsley is by far one of the most conscientious, impeccable actors i have ever seen. his performance is one of the most chilling and expertly executed portrayals of a professional criminal. i almost pissed myself i was so scared of him. the film is beautifully shot, and the bunny is fucking awesome.
the cons: the plot and the way the story was told was kind of unbalanced and there were a couple choice shots that kind of confused me.
the dialog was hard to follow.
ultimately kingsley made up for all of the little faults i had by being so bad ass and so absolutely terrifying.Hey, you should really see this!

Apartment Zero
by ~Lissa~This is Colin Firth like you've never seen him before! If you are used to Mr. Darcy, then you will be as surprised as I was to see him in this role. He was excellent!
He is just weird as Adrian LeDuc who rents a room to Jack Carney, played by Hart Bochner. The story unfolds as a killer is on the loose and Adrian is dealing with the deterioration of his ailing mother. He just keeps getting weirder and weirder and I blame his nosy neighbors, who are also weird in their own right.
I didn't expect the movie to end as it did but when you think about it, it all makes sense.
My mom recommended this movie to me when we were in Buenos Aires, since that is where the movie takes place. Didn't recognize any of the sites, but it was well worth a watch. On Flixster, the more like this shows American Psycho but I had to give it a thumbs down since I don't agree! Watch it and let me know what you think!
