Good documentary that takes a more laid-back approach to Global Warming. Sometimes, the approach is too laid-back, as the filmmakers don't state their case until the final moments of the film. Generally well done.
Surreal odyssey about gangs in New York. Mislabeled as the killers of a gang leader, The Warriors must make their way back to Coney Island. As with any odyssey, they meet a variety of fascinating and dangerous characters as they make their way home. Great cinematography and music help make this Walter Hill's best! Hill has a great way of making his mark with efficient, tightly wound movies like this one. [SPOILER] The final line: "Sorry about that, Warriors" is one of the great understatements in film! Yeah, thanks, that and the Joe Walsh song make up for everything!
Gorgeous cinematography and an evocative score help to make up for a way-too-melodramatic story that sinks what a should-have-been-better movie. It's kind of like the pulp version of "A River Runs Through It!" By the time you see what's become of Anthony Hopkins' character, I literally almost laughed in the theatre! But, darn it, I keep watching it because of John Tolls' beautiful cinematography!
[MINOR SPOILERS] A great cast doesn't help the fact that "The Prestige" is about two characters that become increasingly evil. Plus, the plot twists rely on devices that are basically pulled out of the air. Christopher Nolan started as a great director with "Memento," but he keeps making these overly dark, joyless movies.
