| Aurora Borealis - R | The only redeeming quality is Donald Sutherland's dead-on portrayal of an old man slowly degenerating to scenility. | April 14, 2008 | N/A | |||

| Mr. Bean's Holiday - G | Because there's so little dialog, I found it slightly painful to watch, but well worth it. There were a couple moments where I rose from my chair in pure laughter. So long as it's not taken too seriously, this movie is highly entertaining. | January 7, 2008 | N/A | |||

| P.S. I Love You - PG-13 | I cried no less than five times during this movie. Go see it and take a box of tissues. As much as I loved this movie, I think watching it once is enough. I'm not sure I want to put myself through that kind of emotional roller coaster twice. | December 30, 2007 | N/A | |||
| License to Wed - PG-13 |
Bottom line: Wasn't really worth seeing. Glad we rented it and didn't see it in the theaters. Pokes fun at Christian culture a bit. Every criticism they raise is a valid one, in my opinion, but will certainly offend some. Ultimately has a very positive message, but is overly cheesy and predictable for my taste. Williams (unsurprisingly) makes a great control-freak pastor. |

| Evan Almighty - PG |
A cute movie, but entirely deficient of solid theology (though to be fair I'm sure they don't claim any theological soundness; they're just having fun). I guess I'm not a big fan of Steve Carell. He's great at non sequitur and dry humor like in The Office, but I don't think he does slapstick very well. This movie would've benefited from a lead more like Jim Carey. Still, Carell delivers the best performance, with the rest of the cast being even worse. My ultimate gripe with this movie is the political motivation. I'm not a liberal by any means, but I pride myself in that I'm car-free and arguably more green than the average guy. I would've appreciated a movie about environmental issues, but I'm not sure I like any politically-motivated movie using God as their trump card like this. All this being said, I still give the movie three stars. A bit of fun at Noah's expense, plus the animals (trivia: this movie breaks records for the number of animals involved in production) make this movie fun enough to be well worth the rental price. |
