ok, i'll try not to give away any spoilers . it started off really well , but had a disappointing ending, in my opinion. george clooney gave a great performance. gives a grim picture , with some dark humor thrown in, of the widespread headcount reductions across the country....and an eye opener of the current economic conditions on main street usa. |

poor performances from the actors and a weak script/storyline don't really help this film. One of the few things that makes this movie watcheable are the awesome visuals and effects. Watch it on blu ray and it will give you some thrills . The visuals are great because they are of really famous locations worldwide and not because of awesome cinematography(so don't get me wrong, this is no way nowhere near terrence mallick). that being said, this is a regular popcorn flick ...so don't expect too much . can be watched for the effects and visuals . |

| Definitely, Maybe - PG-13 | One of those romantic comedies with an uplifting ending. Its about how a father explains to his curious daughter the story of how he met her mother. This is an interesting film about a bunch of brilliant MIT students , led by their professor (Kevin Spacey) , who are able to use statistics and math to find a system to beat the blackjack tables in Vegas. The most brilliant kid in the film is motivated by the need to find $300,000 to pay for his tuition and boarding at Harvard Medical School where he has been accepted .
The performance of the kid is nowhere near Matt Damon's performance in "Goodwill Hunting" and Kevin Spacey is also pretty average , if you compare him against Robin Williams (also in Good will Hunting). But its an interesting and entertaining film and worth a watch, atleast once. |

Unlike other superheros, batman, creates his own superpowers through technology which is financed by his multi billion empire Wayne Industries. one of the serious roles played by Steve Carell. I thought it was a pretty entertaining movie , but don't expect it to be a comedy. Its about how Steve Carelll is a single parent and his family wants him to find a second wife (after the untimely death of his first) and get on with the rest of his life. When he finally does find the right woman, it turns out that his own brother is already in love with her. How the rest of the story unfolds is what this movie is all about. Worth a watch, if you're a Steve Carell fan, but don't expect him to be a comedian in this film. |

| Rocky - PG | Been wanting to watch this movie for a long time, since I enjoyed Rambo and this movie has been nominated for 10 oscars. Noticed a blu ray version at the local blockbuster and decided to check it out. I thought it was a cinderella story about how an unknown, average boxer got the chance to fight a heavyweight champion. Apart from the climax fight sequence between Stallone and the heavyweight champ, there really wasn't much else to watch in the film. Stallone is best at being an action hero and character development that happens in the first half of the film is pretty much a waste of time. | Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - PG-13 | not as good as "Raiders of the Lost Arc" and "Last Crusade". Its watchable once partly because the viewer is curious to see if its as good as it used to be. I've watched "Raiders " and "Last Crusade" Recently and they were very watchable even today and I enjoyed every bit of it. This one doesn't live up . Lets face it, Harrison Ford is too old now....and hasn't exactly aged as gracefully as Sean Connery. | No Country for Old Men - R | A thrilling western style flick from Academy Award winning Coen brothers about a hunter who stumbles upon a stash of heroin and lots of cash. Javier Bardem does an excellent job as the ultimate bada$$ ever. The scene between Javier Bardem and a shopkeeper in the movie just blew me away. Lots of violence/blood and atleast a couple of chilling / scary moments driven more by suspense and good acting/direction, than special effects. This is a gripping true story about how Frank Lucas , a black mafia lord , became rich by flooding the streets of NYC with concentrated drugs and about an honest cop , who is trying to clean up the streets of NYC. Denzel Washington does a good job
acting as the black mafia lord Frank Lucas. Russel Crowe does a good job acting as the honest cop , in a corrupted police system. The movie was good overall, even though it was a tad long. The performances were also good from Academy Award winners Washington and Crowe. However, a mafia movie always brings me to draw comparisons with Coppola's "The Godfather" and the powerful performance by Marlon Brando . Somehow, this movie did not impact me in the same way as the Godfather and Marlon Brando. But its still worth a watch...although nowhere near the Godfather ( which was probably driven by an unparalled portrayal of Don Corleoni by Brando, a great script / story and great direction). |
