Son of Rambow
by SVWonderful fim about two little boys growing up in England who become unlikely friends and stay busy making a film in homage of their idol at the time "Rambo". Their home lives are sad ones and both boys are lonely outsiders until their friendship. Beauty & importance of loyalty in friendship is what this is about. Along the lines of Stand By Me, and I'd recommend this to most anyone. A charming, sentimental and most enjoyable film.
Wonderful performances by two little boys in their very first film. Loosely based on the writer/director's own childhood growing up in the 80s in England. I hope you'll see it and enjoy!

Beowulf (2007)
by LadyThis film is worth seeing, if only for the amazing computer images. This very life-like tale is a phonomenally creative piece. You'll recognise stars even if you didn't know they appeared in the film.
The storyline at times was hard to concentrate on, but that only goes to show the detail that went into the film.
Quite surprising the certificate for this film is just a 12 and there are some pretty violent scenes, certainly not one for the young children to watch. From the reviews I've read, you're either going to love it or hate it

The Island
by LadyAn impressive futuristic story, which is beyond comprehension as an outlook on our future.
A much enjoyed story (perhaps slightly longer than was necessary) with some enjoyable performances and characters. Sean Bean definitely plays a bad guy best, just unfortunate that the role for Djimon Housou wasn?t bigger, but likable performances from Ewan and Scarlett
4 STARSIt's not often I get to recommend a Sci-fi/Action film

My Left Foot
by LadyA phonominal true story brought to life by the fantastic performances of Daniel Day Lewis and Brenda Fricker.
This Jim Sherridan film really grasps the poverty of the era which really gives you a sense of a working class family during this time. Also captured well was the Mother and son relationship and the strength of a family that stands together.
Powerful, emotional and brilliant. One from the late 80's, I'm sure many of you have already seen, but it's definitely worth a re-visit if you have.

Sugarhouse
by LadySlow paced, but superbly acted, starring some of Britain?s most underrated Actors. The acting was so good, that parts had no dialogue at all and yet the storyline continued along its way. A gritty and realistic approach, which really added to the scenes of violence etc.
An insightful look into a world few people will ever experience and some wish they didn?t.For fans of gritty British drama.

El Orfanato (The Orphanage)
by LadyThe Orphanage is a Thriller which gives some wonderfully tense moments and really made me jump on a couple of occasions.
Not your average ghost story, this is a beautifully created horror, whilst managing to steer away from predictable route, so many take and instead providing a genuine realistic account of an unknown world. For fans of World Cinema.
