One of the all time greatest movies from the score, to the direction, the screenplay to the cinematography just about perfect, the cast is flawless as an ensemble, and the sets are perfect, everyone should put this movie on their must see list!
Intense Action Movie, great suspense! I thought this movie was really fun, a few good shivers, and it's good to see a horror/adventure movie that's based on facts.
My favorite Clint Eastwood Directed movie, about Jazz Legend Charley Parker, and his degeneration unto death through drug abuse, Parker played by Forest Whitaker in one of the altime great roles in film period.
My second favorite Clint Eastwood movie, full of memorable characters, a unique story, filmed magnificently and treats it's characters as real people, not caricatures of western sterio types, one scene in particular where Josey is talking to the Indian Comanchee Chief near the end of the movie is classic, for it's lines come straight out of the Bible, yet sound so natural and moving that you would swear they were written for this movie. See this if you haven't you will not be disappointed!
Kubrick's forth best movie, it is none the less an excellent and wonderfully made and filmed movie, typically of Kubrick he went to great lengths to get each set and each take just as he wanted, no matter how long it took, this is a classic and a true horror movie!
The best single acting job I've ever seen in any movie, by Meryl Streep, and Kevin Cline was super also, must see this if you admire great acting, a very sad movie!
Two powerful performances in a pioneering movie deeling with civil rights, racism, and debauchery in the american south of the 1960's, wonderful performances by Steiger and Poirtier as some time antagonists and protagonists playing off each other beautifully.
Maybe Robert De Nero's best ever performance as a man who turns from corruption and greed due to the horrors he see's and pass the unltimate price in his attempt to save the helpless.
Not a great movie, but a movie that lays bare the difference between animals and people as far as compassion, sad and unlikely as far as the story, but a great message
A story of survivors of a plane crash of a Boy's School Choir left alone on a deserted Island, with no surviving adults, and there degeneration into savages and murders, breaking into warring factions, with those trying to keep civilized being overwhelmed by evil, a movie to leave you stunned and thoughtful.
Filmed in a spare style making you feel as a witness to this degeneration, with a cast of kids that were picked out of a call-up, a savage and unflinching look at society in whole when also put in severely traumatic situations, a masterpiece.
True story of the Dr. at John Hopkins Hospital who developed workable coronary bi-pass surgery, and the remarkable uneducated African American man he hired to be his helper, who actually made the most important breakthroughs on this treatment, and became indespensible to this Nobel Prize winning Dr., just a wonderful movie!
The Greatest American Music, a story of drug abuse, poverty, prostitution, savagry racism and survival. There is a never and I think better English Production of this Play from the mid-ninties with suerior acting and singing, but it's not listed on Flixter, so I picked this to fill in. If you don't know this story, and have never heard the music you must see this movie!
My all time favorite comedy, classic site gags, a comedy of manners about England in Edwardian times, with an all star cast that have the time of their lives making this movie a total gas. I don't know how they said some of the lines they did straight faced. If you like to laugh, and you like to really dig into a movie to catch all of the jokes, this is the movie for you. I'm so glad it is finally listed here now.
