I recommend you see...
Eagle Eye
by DavidIMAX review (do I watch films on anything other screen?)
If you like action, Sci-Fi, suspense, action, special effects, government conspiracy theories based on terrorist fear, action, looking at Shia LaBeouf and Rachel Holloman, action, Billy Bob Thornton thrown in to keep up the suspense, executively produced by Steven Spielberg and, did I mention action, you should see this flick.
Shia LaBeouf and Rachel Holloman work well together and D.J.Caruso does a fine job of directing and developing their characters to keep your interest.
The special effects are great although a bit "cut off." They come at you from every direction but they seem just thrown together. However, I suppose they need to be "state of the art" and I think that is the point of this being Sci-Fi. However, staying with them for just a few more seconds before rushing off to the next may have made them more believable and realistic.
Two additional characters (whose names I can't seem to find on IMDb but, I am not spending a lot of time looking either!) are thrown together in the middle of this and are given some obvious sexual tension and although their respective roles become clear toward what I would call the anti-climax, they are not otherwise developed.
The anti-climax made the ending silly but, IMO, the audience should still be so caught up in the 2 main characters' "mission" that it does not totally distract.
So, as I am a special effects junky and because I think the fine performances of Shia LaBeouf, Rachel Holloman, and Billy Bob Thornton kept me glued to my seat and managed to raise this movie above the holes in its plot, I recommend this film with 4 stars. Actually, I was going to go even higher but felt that the ending should have, well, ended this and they could have easily dropped the last 5 "Hollywood" minutes. The DVD should have an alternate ending that would make it a lot more believable.
I know, I am being generous with this but hey, I love suspense and special effects so to heck with the critics! :)IMAX review (do I watch films on anything other screen?)
