The Hangover

A funny comedy about a group of guys who go to Vegas for a bachelor party only to get wasted and forget the past 24 hours come the morning. Good cast. A really entertaining watch.

Little Children

Bit of an odd film, but interesting in terms of the narrative. At first I really liked the characters, and how they all intertwined - the events that linked them etc, but nearer the end I didn't enjoy it very much. And the narrator was really quite irritating! But I think that's personal opinion - it gives you an insight into what the characters are thinking, in a different way - I just sort of prefer it when that's done through the acting.. and the cinematography and that. I would still recommend watching it though as it kept me interested.. Kate Winslet is good.

Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian

This is a great sequel, it's not often that a sequel is better than the original movie. I think this movie has a better and more involved storyline. Larry (Ben Stiller) has left the museum and become a successful inventor. Meanwhile the museum exhibits have been moved to Washington DC museum archives. Larry has a race against time to rescue them. On the way he meets Amelia (Amy Adams). She's fab. There are new characters, more interesting storyline with a fight against good and evil. The museum really comes to life again. My faves are still there Jed (Owen Wilson) and Teddy (Robin Williams). Even Ricky Gervais is back as the mumbling nonsensal director of the museum.

Angels & Demons

I love the Dan Brown books and this is my favourite of the books. If you have read the book before going to see the movie, you maybe disappointed. It has the fast pace of the storyline but no depth to the story. I didn't think Tom Hanks was the right actor for Robert Langdon in the Da Vinci Code but he has grown into the role in Angels and Demons. Robert is invited to the Vatican City to help solve clues to save four kidnapped cardinals, in the wake of the Pope's death and save the city from an anti-matter bomb planted by the secret society - the Illuminati. Ewan McGregor is the priest to the late Pope and my favourite character. Very dashing even for a priest! Again Dan Brown challenges the myths and theories of our time.

Star Trek

Warning - spoliers! This movie will introduce Star Trek to a whole new generation. It unites the cast of the Enterprise from a young age. All the favourites are there - Captain Kirk, Spock, Scotty, etc. For once Kirk doesn't get the girl! Sorry to spoil it but it was amusing! It has a great storyline, baddies and special effects. Fabulous! When is the next movie?

Miracle at St. Anna

I liked it. War is definitely not colorblind. Excellent performances all around. It was a bit confusing because I thought the 'miracle' was going to be something different. A touching and tragic story that makes you wonder about the countless similar stories that truly happened during that awful time.

State of Play

There is a murder and cover up in the senate. Russell Crowe is a journalist who tries to discover the truth. Great performance by Russell Crowe. Ben Affleck's performance was very wooden. Helen Mirren had a small part. Jason Bateman gave a good performance. The storyline was good, but it was a little too long and the twist at the end of the movie was an anti-climax.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

Great sequel. The four friends are still trying to get back to New York zoo but their plane crashes in Africa, where Alex (lion) is reunited with his family. Marty (zebra) finds out he is not unique and Melvin (giraffe) finds out he is in love with Gloria (hippo). Funny scenes e.g. when they get attacked by a group of New York tourists on safari.

Knowing

A school girl puts a list of numbers into a time capsule. When the time capsule is opened 50 years later, a MIT professor discovers that the list predicted global disasters - the date, the location and number of fatalities. There are 3 future dates, but what happens when the numbers run out? Good cast and storyline. Good special effects. The movie is exciting and will have you on the edge of your seat until the end. The ending was very lame. It's like A.I. good movie, until the last half hour. If you like disaster / thriller movies like Unbreakable, Final Destination, Mercury, Deep Impact or A.I. you will like this movie.

Race to Witch Mountain

Very good. Nice action. Loved the "kids" (aliens.) Dwayne Johnson is starting to win me over. :)
