Casablanca (1943, PG)
Casablanca is one of the few movies where you'll watch them and say what a beautiful and great story it tells. The main thing in casablanca is the amazing screenplay which is really inspiering and amazingly written. It tells a story of love and eception and sacrifice. And the road the actions follows was really excellent and well done. As for Humphrey Bogart, he was phenomenal. He gave what i say the greatest performence ever. I was stupified by the way he played his character with this confident look in his eyes. |

All About Eve (1950, Unrated)
Step away evil plastics, there's a new bitch in town and her name is Eve Harrington. I haven't had so much fun while watching a movie in a really long time as much as i had while watching All About eve. I know this movie won't be appreciated by everyone coz it flows above regular movie making to attend a high level of perfectness and excellency in every possible way. And it must have one of the besst dialogues ever. The greatness of this movie is how it depends on the dialogue between the characters where every word said by each and every one of them opens a door leading to another side of their personalities which really gets you more and more interested into knowing about them and just thrilled to watch the rest of the movie. Many will say it's boring but those who understand the true essense of movie writing will appreciate the great effort put into it. As for the story. I have never seen a movie about betrayal put together like this one. every character is dirty in its own way and although it gets to such a low level of inhumanity you can't but glory its intelligence. And at the end of the movie you can't help but have this grin on your face because of the ironic turn the story takes. As for the acting, watching Bette Daviz was such an inspiration which makes your heart leap from its place because of the true power she gave in her performance. And i liked what Celeste Holm did too. But i wasn'y quite sure about Anne Baxter since her performance was very amateur and childish and not up to the greatness of her character. She was the only weak point in this amazing movie which i call one of my all time favourites. |

Psycho (1960, R)
Alfred Hitchcock is clearly the greatest director ever! and this movie is his greatest work where he mixed horror, drama and psychoclogical problems to bring in the end a frightenening masterpeice! Although the movie starts a bit slow at first but have patience coz whats waiting is maybe one of the scariest must spoociest rides ever. You won't jump or scream but the hair on the back of your neck will always be up because of the great performence and frightening performence of Anthony perkins. I nearly had a heart attack looking at him and at the look in his eyes at the finale. I can;t understand how he wasn't even nominated for best actor. And at the end the thanks all goes to to the master of horror and thrill Alfred hitchcock who will always be a legend and this work is his best and will never be forgotten in the next generations (i will make sure it wont LOL) |

Gone With the Wind (1939, G)
Known to be THE timeless classic that everyone heard about, Gone With the Wind deserves its name as one as the greatest movies of all time.I know it's quite scary watching a four hours long movie, but the beauty of this movie is within every detail brought to life during the movie. Every expression on the face of the actors took its time to be shown in the most perfect way. And of course Victor Fleming gave a wonderful work as a director brining the true beauty of that time and the true horror of the war facing it. Hats off for Fleming. But for me the movie wouldn't have been the same without Viven Leigh's genius portrayal of Scarlett O'hara which will always be one of my favourite performance. I will always remember every expression on her face and every move she made coz they were made from her heart and soul. |

The Wizard of Oz (1939, G)
Following the yellow brick road may be the best trip you will ever have in this colourfull movie filled with great songs and a great performance by Judie Garland. She was young but managed to give a convincing performence. but the mvie is all about its amazing screenplay. Which talks about the hearts desires and that you have all you want but you should know how to discover it. The movie is very entertaining and inspiring and it reveals the meaning of true friendship and after watching it you'll go with a big heart, a smart brian and an invincible courage to face everything in life. |

Sunset Boulevard (Sunset Blvd.) (1950, Unrated)
Billy Wilder is really climbing the ladder to becoming one of my favourite directors. I know the technical work was amazing, i know the screenplay is genius and i know that the acting was wnderful. But it was Wilder's work that made this movie the timeless classic it is. And i really appreciate his intellignece coz he knew how to capture the viewers in the two most important parts of any movie: the opening and the end scene. I must say, the opening scene must be one of the best ever, we see the cars driving through and how we feel we're watching a police archive was a very brilliant idea. And at the end with the freeky psychotic melodramatic danse of the lead actress leading her way down the stairs and looking at the camera must be one of the most psychotic most memoroibale scenes ever. The movie shows how Hollywood isn't so glamorous after all and how even the most greatest actors will be thrown away coz they don't follow the current flow. It shows how painful it is to be at the top and then scroll down and be forgotten. And it shows the worst case scenario. We see how this actress who was miserable found happyness in this young writer but at the same time ehr happyness caused him misery. And Billy Wilder brilliantly showed every spec of lonelyness she was feeling. And one of the most sad scenes in the movie was the new year's scene. We see her happy although she's alone, she's dancing thinking that this young man loves her. It's really sad when a person puts himself in her point of view. And yet again this movie wouldn't have been the same of course if it wasn't for Gloria Swanson's amazing job. The look in her eyes and the way she expressed her emotions with her face was really inspiering. And i believe this the kind of roles that marks one's career. And William Holden was great too but she just stole all the lights. |

Beauty and the Beast (1991, G)
Well Disney truely told a tale as old as time that will never die. Never a story has touched me and moved me as much as this one did. It's not your typical fairytale story about a princess longing to meet her prince charming, it's about looking over superficial stuff and see deep into the heart coz then the power of the heart will work and overcome all the obstacles even being a monster. And i guess this is the movie that has the most loveable characters ever. Even you feel pitty and sympathy for the ugly beast coz although we see him raging and screaming but we get the chance to look at his baby heart and innocent soul and we see how time changed him and made him what he really is. And i just LOVED the secondary |

The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001, PG-13)
The first part of this amazing trilogy prooved to be a great masterpeice and the best one in the trilogy. The movie didn't focus on war scenes and gore and blood, it focuced on the will to survive and the sacrifices willen to make to help others save the world. This mad ethe screenplay of the movie very memorable. The acting was good, of course the best one was Ian McKellen as Gandalf the grey leading the fellowship and prooved to be a great leader. But what made this movie so great is the awesome work of the then-unknown Peter Jackson. His look was amazingly portrayed in the movie and my best scene was the one where the nazguls are following liv tyler, peter did an amazing job on this scene and i was blown away by it. |

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004, PG)
The story of harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban was my favourite in the series and the movie lived up to my expectations. Alfonso Cuaron did an amazing job its probably one of the best directorial works i have ever seen.the first two movies were very similar from the part of the direction, but Alfonso added this yellowish colour to the movie which helped the dark and dramatic atmosphere of the movie. And he really captured the mood and knew how to deal with the growing drakness in every scene. As for the screenplay it is by far the best in the four movies, the heart factor dominates everything and we don't only see a young guy running for his life, we see a young man seeking revenge for his parents. And for once it foucsed not on how Lord Voldemort is going back to life, it focused on three things: Harry, Hermione and Ron. As for the acting, Emma Watson and Emma Thompson were the stars of the movie. They really were amazing and got into the skin of both characters in a great way. Dan Radcliffe didn't improve much from the precedent movie and he wasn't so convincing. As for the visuals, they were awesome and buckbeack is great and the Dementors were pretty scary. And the score written here was really amazing and captured the dark tone of the story. This movie is one of the rare beautiful movies which captures you with emotions. |

Young Frankenstein (1974, PG)
Never horror was that funny with Frau Blucher and igor ull have a blast. Mel Brooks has to be the greatest comic director. Manipulating and camera angles he gave us the sense of horror and comedy all in one movie. As for the screenplay, mixing the talents of gene wilder and mel brooks gave one of the best ever. Joining two horror cult movies together to bring one comic movie was a genius idea. And the jokes are smartly written and rarely found in modern comedies. But the main and great thing here is the utterly phenomenal performences by each and every member of the cast. They all all all were amazing specially the actor playing Igor (which ispronounced eye-gor) and the actress playing Frau Bloockher (who god knows what she did to the horses). Althoguh Gene Wilder did a good job but compared to all the cast he wasn't that shining star. |

El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth) (2006, R)
This is the perfect movie i have been longing to watch for a really long time. Never a movie knew how to capture the essence of every story it has and mixed them all together in such a perfect way. And the strengh of the movie is that along with the brilliant story and human work, it has a maervelous and enchanting technical work that will capture your eye with beauty and fascinate you so you won't be able to movie your eyes from the screen. Yeah it is a story about a girl with three fantastic tasks to accomplish, yeah it is a story about a cruel leader in the World War 2. I know these are stories we seen long before but yet never both were made together and met in such a beautiful way. It's like a groing out of age movie. We see how sometimes we can create our own sanctuaries to run away from teh cruelty of life. It really shows how much the human mind is capable of doing. And it just shows how much a human can do to run away from the cruelty of life. Guillermo Del toro, brings all this beauty on screen in the most amazing way capturing the heart of the story and bringing the horror of both the real and imaginary world. And i just can't forget the final scene with the amazing camera move around the thrown which left me breathless. And the lacting was amazing too especially by the young and looking for a very bright future Ivane Baquero who played the innocent young Ofelia in a great way. And Sergi Lopez made his character one of my all time favourite villains. As for the technical work i can't mention everything coz my review will be 5 pages long but i can resume it all saying that the perfect word to describe the technical work is BEAUIFUL. The colourful cinematography, the fascinating art direction, the capturing costumes and the realistic make-up. And at the end i would like to say Hats Off for Javier Navarrete for his wonderful score which captured the heart of every scene and translated it into music where only what you hear can tell you the whole story. The only complaint i have is that i was expecting to see more out of Pale Man but still his few scenes were great. |

Chicago (2002, PG-13)
I was jazzed by this AMAZING movie. It riased the name of musicals once again as one of the best movie genres ever. I'll start talking about the performences which were amazing by every single member of the cast. It seems as if everyone gave their best performences ever in this movie. A bit disapointed that Richard Gere didn't get an oscar nod although he gave his best job ever. But of course the star of this show was clearly Catherine Zeta-Jones who was mind blowing playing Velma Kelly in such a cool and confident way that will maybe make you fall in love with her. Rob Marshall was amazing in his debut mixing the musical numbers with the real life happenings in such a talented and professional way. The score and the music of the movie were amazing and the songs are very memorable specially the cell block tango which is my favourite. And finally i wana talk about the great screenplay of the movie which capted another side of Chicago and took us back to this era and i have to say that it is one of the smartest screenplays ever. Well the movie totally deserved his best picture oscar and it will be noted in years as a total classic. |

The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (2003, PG-13)
The return of the king is a great epic presenting the best job peter jackson has ever done. The colour and light he gave to the movie was really amazing and the battle scenes were well crafted you feel you are a member of it and feel the fun of being there. The greatness of the acting here was based on the group not the individual, i mean one actor didn't give an amazing performence but as a group all of them were awesome. And the script is well written and many scenes are memorable specially the distruction of the tower of saruman which was really amazing. |

American Beauty (1999, R)
I always wanted to know what was this great movie that beated The Matrix at the oscars but honestly it deserves every single award it got. I have never seen a movie that talks about the messed up life of many people in such a beautiful way, i know it doesn't make sense but that's this movie. This is first time i witness a screenplya that goes deeply within every character revealing it secrets and the deep emotions hidden behind the looks. Every character is dirty, every one is troubled and just looking at what a life they have makes you feel sad and thankful for the life you have. The greatness here is that the movie sends lots of messages to people so they can avoid this sad life. And Sam Mendes translated this amazing screenplay in the most generous way on screen, digging deep into the hidden emotions it has so he can present them to the public eye in the most perfect way. About the acting, this all star cast was outstanding. Everyone was at the right place giving his best performence. Kevin Spacey was great playing this sarcastic iconiic character that will stick in the mind of every viewer. t i feel sorry for her coz she always gives her best performences the same year with Hilary Swank so she always comes in second place at the oscars which is a bit sad. |

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005, PG-13)
Harry Potter is becoming better and better and it takes family fantasy to a whole new level. its one of the best movies ever. I'm a huge huge huge fan of the books, and this movie was really faithfuk to it concidering the limited time given to it. The movie is two and half hours long, but trust me there's no dull moment in it. It's filled with action, magic, romance, laughter everything you could ever want. The screenwriter took everything that is important out of the book and adapted it in this immense movie which is bog in everything. Dan Radcliffe gave his first true performence here, the whole movie was relying on him and he pulled it off greatly for the first time. And of course Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were very good. Mike Newell handeled the action sequences in a great way, mixing them with teen life and problems. And the way the camera moved and the lightening used was so inspiering. And the cinematpgraphy is very colourful and beautiful. The visuals werte amazing and outstanding, they had the sense of reality and very scary on their own terms. And the music written was AMAZING it had heart and an element which knew how to find every scene and translate iit into music. Harry Potter and the goblet of fire is one of the most entertaining, smart and lovable movies you will ever watch. |

The Sound of Music (1965, G)
The sound of music is the perfect exemple of the great genuin classic. The script is greatly written dealing with different stories not only focusing on one. We have a love story, a war and a comedy. Although it deals with a known story about an ignorent father but it tells it in a beautiful and nice way that you will love. Julie Andrews is amazing with her great voice. Although it wasn't Mary Poppins but she did great and the kids were good too so all the cast was convincing. But the main strong point of this great movie are the songs which fills ur heart with joy and tunes specially the start up song THE SOUND OF MUSIC. I don't remember a bad point in this movie coz there isn't any. This is the best musical ever made and of the greatest movies ever. |

Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961, Unrated)
Breakfast at Tiffany's is the perfect exemple of the classic beautiful 60's movie. The whole story about a prostitute whose life is turned upside down by a normal man is very typical but it was very nicely told here reveiling many sides in each persons life. The way the relationship between the two leads evolved was very interesting, we see them passing from a superficial childish friendship to a serious love story. I liked how the story followed many paths taking many turns. At first we see a very bright sense of humour from the meeting between the stars till the party at Golly's house. then the story takes a dramatic turn to arrive at the end to the beautiful romantic part. Audrey Hepburn played her part amazingly, in a way that no one could have out matched. The moment she began singing Moon River i knew that she is my favourite actress. And it's just that she presented beauty, grace and elegance that were never given by any woman alive. And she became this timeless role model for all ladies. And her co-star George Peppard was very interesting as well. And the music written for this movie was very beautiful and it deserved the oscar it won. The music alone can make you look deeper into the characters and know more about them. |

Schindler's List (1993, R)
This is Steven Speilberg's best movie ever and of my favourite movies. Every litttle thing in this big movie achieved its goal leaving a mark in every viewer. Making the movie in black and white resembling it to a documentary gave the movie the rught atmosphere for its dramatic storyline. What i loved most in this movie is that two of my favourite acyors were working together. Liam Neeson and Raloh Fiennes gave together as the good and the bad amazing performences which were fpr my big disapointement ignored bu the academy awards and none of them won the oscar. Being one of the greatest heros history, liam neeson was amazing as oscar schindler and we see by the screenplay the heart of this person helping the jews from the nazis. And on the other hand, we have of the greatest villains in history played by Ralph Fiennes who excelently portrayed the evil nazi general. The screenplay focus on the cruelness of the nazi era ut above all on the goodness of one man who is now admired all over the world. |

La Sconosciuta, (The Unknown), (The Other Woman) (2008, R)
It's amazing how 2006 turned out to be one of the greatest years for foreign cinema and the proof for that; my top three of that year is formed of three European movies and The Unknown is without any doubt one of them. Guiseppe Tornatore always waits for some years to release a new movie and he has always proved that it is worth waiting. But never was I so impressed by his movies as much as I was now. This is his best masterpiece to date. It's rare to find movies like that and here's why the movie was so great. The movie didn't appear much in any festivals coz it's still not released in the US but I'm sure it will be one of the strongest contenders this year at the Academy Awards. |

A Streetcar Named Desire (1951, PG)
A highclass acting phenomen, A Streecar Named Desire is a joy to watch because of the magnetic performances by the two legends Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh. They both became schools in acting with such a couple of performances which will always remain as two of the best in their repertoir. Never a motion picture has witnessed such sensuality in the most bizar ways like it has in this movie. Especially from the side of the very handsome Marlon Brando who was a master strong lion in his interpretation. His scenes screamming "STELLAAAAA!!!" and crying under the rain will always stay in my memory because of the emotions he showed during them. And although he covered the whole movie with an irresistable sensuality it was vivien Leigh who stole the spotlight with her wonderful and really charmingly classy performance. The way she smiles, grins, talks, moves it was all done with precision and marvellous intelligence. Watching actors doing their thing was never better. Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh are sure to give you the best time ever. The atmosphere reigning in the movie was captivating gives the story the sense it needed probably because of Elia Kazan's brilliant look at life and people. And it has such musicality which was so charming and you can't take your eyes off the movie. It's filled with emotions and consequences which lead us to know more about the importnat characters. |

To Kill A Mockingbird (1962, Unrated)
To kill a mockingbird is one of the few movies which actually touched me and i look at it as the most inspiring movie ever because of the beautiful story it tells from the point of view of two little and innocent kids. I would like to talk first about the great job the director Robert Muligan did creating the perfect atmosphere for that era and giving every scene the suitable mood going from silly childish life to scary moments to dramatuc situation all masterfully manipulated. Second i will talk about the amazing performence by Gregory Peck which has to be one of the best ever done. He knew how to play the character in a respectable and classy way as it is and he was amazing at the scene of the court, but still he didn't steel the lights from the two little kids who were as good and strong as he was. And finally i will talk about the best thing of the movie which is the amazing and heartwarming and intelligenly written screenplay. It will go right away to your hearts leaving a mark that won't be undone. It is not only a story it's a lesson in life. It's a lesson for every parent showing how a single man raised two children who turned up to be perfect. It's a lesson for everyone so they will learn not to judge people by how they look or what they are. It's the heart that counts. To kill a mockingbird isn't just a movie, it's a lesson in life for all of us. |

Bonnie and Clyde (1967, R)I have just one word to describe this movie...WOW!!! I heard about the movie and knew that i will like it, but i never knew that i will like it that much. What more could a person want more in a movie; it has an amazing screenplay, a great ensemble and a good director to go with them. The screenplay is amazingly written where each character evolves in the movie, specially Bonnie where we see her going from a slutty girl to a mature woman. Even we see the relation ship between Bonnie and clyde developping in ront of us. the screenplay managed to mix drama, comedy and gangster at the same time to give at the end a great movie. It takes us through a journey of romance and crime life to arrive at the end to a very surprising finale. The performences were awesome by everyone specially the two leads who took their roles and played them in an amazing way but i still preferred Faye Dunaway who was amazing. And looking at the whole cast i was surprised that Estelle Parsons was the only one to win an oscar although she was the least best one between them. Call me sick but my favourite moments in this amazing movie were looking at Faye Dunaway taking her rifle and shooting her opponents. You'll have a blast. the movie is a timeless classic and has some violent moments considering its time but it won't keep you from having the best time watching a movie ever. |

Finding Nemo (2003, G)
Finding Nemo is one of the best comedies ever made. The screenplay is greatly written with lovable and awesome characters specially the funny Dorry. The screenplay doesn't only deal with moral issues but it gives a memorable stor ythat everyone will love and enjoy and there are no dull moments in the whole 105 min, it's all fun packed movie to give a great time to all adults and children. |

The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (2002, PG-13)
Although the movie is my least favourite in the trilogy it managed to give in its end the best war scene ever. I was blown away by this great masterpeice which will keep you holding your breath waiting for the next step to find out what will happen at the end of this war. you'll feel like you're a part of it and feel the urge to take a sparrow and shoot it. So the main attraction of this movie was its amazing war scene at the end. as for the whole thing, i don't have much to say, only that it's nothing compared to the first one, the screenplay isn't much full as the others and you'll feel a bit bored waiting for the end of this 3 hrs long movie. |

Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è bella) (1998, PG-13)
I rarely watch a movie and feel completely attached to it, and few movies always stick in my mind after I watch them. La Vita E Bella happens to be between those few movies that make me feel that way. Some movies are great but others are just beautiful but this one is both. It was a contender at the Academy Awards with the movies released in 1998 but this one was released during 1997 in Italy. So if I have to compare it with the winner that year which was ?Titanic? I will have to say that this one is a hundred times better and worthy being called one of the few modern masterpieces. You just don?t happen to watch a similar movie everyday. This one is pure gold. Of course Italy has presented many great movies but this one will always be the best of the best. |

On the Waterfront (1954, Unrated)
Of course On the Waterfront is one of the timeless classics the movie industry has offered to the public but it wouldn't have been the same without the presentation of Terry Malloy, the character played by Marlon Brando which will always be my most beloved character that ever appeared on the silver screen. And this character itself would never be the same if it wasn't for Marlon Brando's electrifying performance which is enough to name him the greatest actor that ever lived. As written, Terry Malloy is a young childish rebell who is trying to survive his life, bu Marlon Brando made this superficial character deep with a charming and powerful performance. An Aamzing work on the facial expressions as never seen before. You see sadness and charm both mixed up on his face whi prooves what a true nuance he had. and the final scene where we see him all bloodied up was just a real charmer. It's amazing how he showed his pain yet his strengh, a tear but then a smaile. None other then a pure genius in acting. The movie by itself is wonderful movie watching experience. The story transforms Terry Malloy gently and msartly into a gentlman in love and the way it takes all the twists and turns shows genius, emotions and a heart. And of course Elia Kazan was one of the biggest factors to make this movie what it is with his intelligent look at that time and space to bring out the true horror these people braught to teh simple citisens. |
|
| 27 |
The Godfather (1972, R)
I didn't like Al Pacino's performence here, but Marlon Brando pulled the role of the godfather amazingly with great class. And the godfather has one of the best screenplays ever! It shows one man with many sides. The killer, the family man and the lover. Francis Ford Coppola was amazing in this movie which is the best in the trilogy. And my personal favourite scene is when the movie director wakes up to find a little surprise in his bed. This scene is CLASSIC! Not to forget the amazing musical score which takes back to the real italian mob era. |

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) (2001, PG)
Finally the phrase i love magic seems to be true. The movie takes to another world that you don't want to leave. Although Chris Columbus didn't do this great job, but he managed to give a colourful sense to the movie considering the age of the actors and the movie beeing the first one. The acting was really good for young actors specially rupert grint who was so funny and very convincing. The script was very truthful to the story, it took the essence of it and brought it to screen and it was very enjoyable. And of course the main attraction of the movie was the quidditch game scene which was really entertaining. |

Rear Window (1954, PG)
Alfred Hitchcock is the master of all suspense and in this movie he does what he ususally do; make you sit on the edge of your seat wanting to grab something and wait unpatiently to know what will happen. But he has a certain way to do it. In the first half of the movie he shows the ideas and the problem to be solved covering it with interesting conversations and after at the beginning of the second half he starts summing up suspense by making the scene as cool as it can be so silence will be your fear and you don't know what to think. Rear window isn't hitchcock's best work but it stands as his second best and as one of the greatest thrillers ever. The screenplay is amazing followed with a smart script and the performences by the three leads are amazing specially James Stewart and sure i can't forget the beautiful Grace Kelly who enchanted the screen with her beauty with her first appearence here and we all saw how she changed with the development of her character. The movie has no flop, it succeedes in every small detail thanks to Hitchcock's great talent and view to movies. |

Amadeus (1984, R)
Being familiar with the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart i never thought that he would be such a cocky low unrespectable immature impudent person. And that laugh OMG that horrible laugh i can't get it out of my head. well anyway about the movie. Amadeus prooves to be a triumph in taking over every styl. It succeeds to be a drama, comedy, psychological and murder. The performences given by every member of the cast were amazing. Specially by the two leads. They both got into the skin of the character and played as it should be done according to the screenplay. But still the real star here was F. Murray Abraham who was amazing. It was enchanting to watch him playing the jealous Salieri in such a breath taking way. And of course the screenplay was very well written giving no dull moment in 160 min movie. But still i don't know if mozart was really this kind of person as the screenplay made it. But what attracted me most was the score written to the movie, of course it was taken from original works but still it was amazing listening to such marvellous tunes and the vocal talents were awsome too. |

Shrek 2 (2004, PG)
Here's how animation should be, funny, smart and cocky this one of the best movies ever and the best animated movie there is.The screenplay is very well written following the events of the first movie. Although the story is familiar but the details of the story are the one which capt ur attention and makes waiting to see what will happen next. And u can see from my avatar that i LOVE puss in boots. And the voice talents were awesome specially the ones by eddie murphy and antonio banderas. And the animation techniques really developped from the first one giving the movie a more colourfull sense. |

Shrek (2001, PG)
Shrek is one of the few animated movies that are turely destined to all ages. It is funny, interesting and sophisticated but what takes it to higher level is the hilarious script which will make laugh your ass out during all the run of the movie. The screenplay is really smart and foucses on every small detail answering every question. And every character here has its own cpeciality and tehy are all lovable and memorable specially Donkey voiced by Funny man Eddie Murphy who gave maybe the bets vocal talent in an animation movie and his last singing scene was hilarious. |

Hable con Ella (Talk to Her) (2002, R)
Talk to her prooves how foreign movie making reigns as a prestegeous one. This is another movie to add to the many amazing spanish movies. The great thing about this movie is how the screenplay explores each character with every passing scene. It shows how the lost of a loved person may lead to many paths and it shows us these roads by the developemnt of the two main characters through the movie. And althouhg there is no action or tense moments but without knowing it you'll be attached to what's happening and eager to know more about the characters.Pedro almodovar did another amazing job here and he totally deserved the best director nod although i would have liked him to transform some scenes so we feel that its a painting or a symphony rather then just a scene coz some needed this aspect but still he was awesome. The acting wasn't that brilliant specially the taurero woman who actually looks like a man but it was good. Although they didn't know how to express some emotions properly. And The music was amazing i totally loved it. |

Mrs. Miniver (1942, Unrated)
Definitely one of the greatest 40's movies, Mrs Miniver stands as one of my favourite war dramas ever. William Wyler creates the perfect mood for us to live the horror of that time with the war and everything and Greer Garson gives one of the most charming performances ever as Mrs Miniver who became one of my favourite characters prooving how a lady should be with grace and charm. |

Mary Poppins (1964, G)
Mary Poppins is a nice beautiful colouful movie that is almost too good to be true. The screenplay is very simple and nice which makes it lovable and it has a heart although the story isn't new but it was still great. Julie Andrews was phenomenal in this movie as the greatest nanny to ever grace the silver screen. I think that her performence here is the greatest one done by an actress. She knew how to capture the confident look of Mary Poppins and she played in a way that is firm but kind. The songs are amazing and well made the tunes are awesome and the lyrics are heartwarming and it makes you wana scream supercalifregilisticexpialidotious. The visuals are great, mixing animation with real life actors was something maybe impossible at that time and they pulled it off. |

Moulin Rouge! (2001, PG-13)
Moulin Rouge came at the perfect time to bring back the prestegious name of the greatest genre of movies; Musicals. The screenplay is nice although after the first hour passes it starst to get a bit boring but it still tells one of the greatest romantic stories. I LOVED Baz Luhrman's work here, he was amazing mixing comedy with the dark drama and the musical numbers were amazing ad he really captures the emotional sense of them and know how to translate it on the big screen and i don't know how wasn't even nominated for an Oscar coz i thought that he's the sure winner. Nicole Kidman was amazing as the courtisan who thought that she will never love. and her performence was o na true oscar caliber. And also Ewan McGregor gave his besr perfprmence ever here. Their vocals were pretty good, i was surprised coz both of them have really nice voices. |

Singin' in the Rain (1952, G)
After watching Gene Kelly's amazing performence, i wana go down the street and sing in the rain. Although the biggest part of the movie is all tap dancing but you'll have a great time watching them dancing and acting amazingly. The movie was clearly underapppreciated by the acacdemy awards not nominating it for best movie or any of the big categories, but that didn't keep from being a timeless musical classic and one of the best movies ever. The story is simple and nice and it talks about real life and events which makes it close to every person. |

8 Women (8 Femmes) (2002, R)
8 women shows what a beautiful revelation the French movie industry is. This peice of art is a whole circus that will take you on a ride that you'll never forget. It explores many sides in every persons innerself and manage to tell a dark story with lots of misteries in it and add a comic sense to lighten everything up. The screenplay is ver smart and enjoyable. But the main attraction here is the amazingperformences by all the eight women. Katherine Deneuve was to die for and Fannie Ardant was truly amazing and gave the most noticable performence here. This is by far my favourite french and foreign movie. |

Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003, PG-13)
Pirates movies were becoming to disappear with time coz they began to become so clichet, but Pirates of the Caribbean prooved itself as an original, scary and funny pirates movie. The screenplay wasn't that great but it was fair to the idea of the movie. As for Gore Verbinsky. he did a great and difficult job helming this huge movie. But the biggest and main attarction here is the amazing phenomenal awesome great performence by Johnny Depp. No actor in any movie gave a character that crazy sense and managed to gice a great performence. He totally deserved to get the oscar, coz no one could have played Captain Jack Sparrow as good as he did. And he managed to sum a lot of fans. |

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980, PG)
Luck i'm ur father! And this movie is the father of all the science fiction movies. The Empire Strikes Back is my favourite Star Wars movie for the fact that it has lots of new creatures to present a highly entertaining plot with amazing visual effects and very turns of actions that are really interesting and surprising as the most famous family issues that are very sick. And of course the appearence of my favourite character Yoda. This movie is very smart and entertaining and really interesting with lots of emotions to show. |

The Silence of the Lambs (1991, R)
Anthony Hopkins took Hannibal to a whole new level to make it the best villain in cinema history. He was amazing starring as a canibal and jodie Foster was great too and they both deserved the oscars they won. I can;t belive that someone can portray such evil in such an amazing way. Looking at him acting as this great and intellegent villain will give goosbumps and chills and maybe you will be afraid of sleeping at night coz ull see his face staring at you with his evil grin. And Jodie Foster was amazing too, she really got into the spirit of this detective and julian moore didnt do half the job she did here. The movie desreved everything it received from best picture, director, actor, actress and screenplay coz simply its one of the greatest movies ever made. |

E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial (1982, PG)
This is one of the many great classics presented by the genius Steven Speilberg. As usual he did a great job sending in a great way the message of the movie to all the vieweres and manipulatign the scenes so Oh factor with the audiance will be at high rate. But what managed to make this movie a great heartwarming movie is the amazing screenplay mixing fun and heart all the way to the end. All the kids amanged to give great performences specially drew barrymore who was about 5 back then. |

The Hours (2002, PG-13)
Amazing how this adaptation manages to be one of the most emotional movies i have ever seen. everything here is done with such precision in a way we feel that out hearts are opening for everyone and everything we see on-screen. The screenplay was written excellently telling three stories together by one book. We watch and explore every character. It goes deep inside them and develops them to the end with sadness and amotions. We almost feel all the sorrow and melancoly they are passing through. But at some points there was a bit of exageration that disturbed the happenings of the movie. Stephen Daldrey did one of the best directorial jobs of 2002. He mixed the life of those three women in such a detailed way that we can't but notice his genius. And he schose the right angles and shotes to take to show the right emotions. The cast joined the elit of our actors and thank god all of them were recognised by the Oscars. Ed Harris and Meryl Streep were very insppiering playing those two unjoined lovers in this disfunctinal love affair. And Julianne Moore did probably the best acting in her career yet. But the star was Nicole Kidman who deserved without any doubt the Oscar she got playing this special and iconic character Virginia Woolf. Even Clair Danes was pretty good. As for the technical job, the costume were very good and the music was amazing. One of the best scores ever. |

The English Patient (1996, R)
This is one of the rare movies where everything seems to work. From direction to acting to writing to every samll detail, the movie had it all controled in a beautiful and mastered way. The acting by the two leads Juliette Binoch and Ralph fiennes was amazing considering two great actors such as them. Specially Juliette who acted like a tiger with strong and powerful talent. Then there is the story which had lots of dimensions going from drama to thrill to romance and the will to survive, it's really emotional. the movie is a must-see for every moviegoer. |

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977, PG)
A new hope prooves that sci-fi action movies aren't only made for entertaining. This is quality movie making with a highly proffessional job from George Lucas who showed great creativity writing and directing this movie which was at the time a great breakthrough. Alec Guness was very impressive as usual but i didn't quote like Harrison Ford here. |
|
| 47 |
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968, G)
This a rare cinematic symphony that wil never be repeated. A normal moviegoer will feel bored and leave but an expert who watched movies for a long time will find in this movie something that was never done in any movie. The screenplay is simply and intellegently written. The visuals are amazing for that time. Stanley Kubrick did an awesome job here, and all the actors did well in their small roles. Butthe great thing here is the amazing score which is still mentioned in a lot of modern sci-fi movies. |
|
| 48 |
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937, G)
Who would have thought that the first full lengh animated movie ever will go in history as the best animated movie ever. Although it's not my favourite Disney but it is a truley great movie because of the beautiful and amazing story it tells. It's really simple to follow but it hides a lot of emotions and moods behind it. There is hate jealousy but at the same time love and friendship and that what makes it a timeless movie that almost every person on the planet knows about it. |
|
| 49 |
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002, PG)
Harry Potter and the chamber of secret fell under the curse of the less great sequels, but it managed to stay up for the harry potter name despite some plot holes. The screenplay is really darker than the first one and it tells a nice story but still it comes as the weakest between the four movies. Chris Columbus wasn't so brilliant here coz he didn;t do anything new from th first movie. He did the same job and didn't add anything new or special. The performences by the cast improoved from the first one, but still Dan Radcliffe doesn't have that spark so the stars were as like the first one Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. The visuals are great and scary. |
|
| 50 |
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983, PG)
Although Episode 6 is my least favourite one in the first Star Wars trilogy but i still think that it is one of the best movies ever and one of the most entertaining ones. The screenplay here was very simple and easy to follow and very likable considering presenting some new cute creatures. But what i didn't like was the finlae which was totally predictable. The performences here weren't as good as the first two movies but they were pretty fair. What didn't serve Episode 6 is that it was related to such great movies as A new Hopw and The empire strikes back which decreased its importance. |

Forrest Gump (1994, PG-13)
What an amazing peice of art. Movies can't get much better than this. The movie has sweetness and emotions written all over it. The screenplay is amazing showing that even if you are simple minded life will open its arm for you to live the biggest adventure ever. But the greatest thing here is Tom Hanks amazing oerformence which is probably the best one in his career. You forget that this is a big hollywood actor coz he takes to the deepest side of this character playing it cool and simple without comlicating it so in the end it will be full mastered and the audience will enjoy it with all his funny moments |

Chinatown (1974, R)
New screenwriters should look back at that time where people new how to amaze the minds of the viewers with out of this world stories that will live forever. The movie had many strong points but the strongest and most celebrated one is its amazing screenplay. Its gebius and really sofisticated so people won't even think to look away from the screen so they can follow everything that is happening. And the way each character had something secret in it that makes it dirty was very brilliant too. I know Roman Polanski was nominated for best director here but i didn't find him at his best. I think he was the weakest link in this amazing movie. Some scenes came a bit boring specially at the beginning of the movie. Jack Nicolson gave an outstanding performence with high class and great confidence. And he gave his character the smart and saucy look it needed. But the star here was Faye Dunaway who didn't only give a good job but presented strengh and nerve in her acting in an out of this world way. I don't know how she didn't win the oscar that year. I didn't like the fact that the music was very similar too the music of The Godfather, it lacked originality. |
|
| 53 |
Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964, PG)
Dr strangelove is really one of the best comedies ever made but it is not the great movie the AFI has made it. Stanley Kubrick made a really great job helming a comedy movie giving every character the silly look it should have. But he was at his best making the plane scenes where he combined action with comedy in a very intelligent way and the final scene wiith the man on the bomb was very well done. The screenplay is well written to give an original story which has nothing to do with reality and the jokes are really good but there are some parts which i didn't quite understand but still it was very brilliant and gave us a very twisted ending which is unusual and never before seen in any movie. But the star here is Peter Sellers which brilliantly played the three roles in different way giving each one a different look from the psychological side. But he was at his best playing the president, he was hilarious there. The movie is great but it is neither Kubrick's best work nor Sellers but they both gave exceptional job and made it a great black comedy classic. And our new screenwriters should learn from that era which knew how to make good comedy. |

The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957, PG)
Although i felt a bit bored while i was watching it but this is change the fact that The Bridge on The River Kwai is an amazing classic to be remembered forever. The story is very interesting and i liked how it shows the struggle and determination of good men. And the performence of Alec Guniess was truely inspiering and a lesson in acting to every wanabe actor. |

Cabaret (1972, PG)
Cabaret was the great musical i was expecting and it lived up to the name of this amazing genre. The movie won 8 oscars that year and it desreved almost everyone. The director Bob Fosse was great capturing the underworld mood of the Kit Kat Club and mixing the musical scenes with real life in the most suitable way choosing the right dance number and song for the right happenings in the life of the two leads. Liza Minnelli was amazing portraying the childish exotic dancer who will never grow up although i didn't like the fact that her character didn;t developp through the movie, she stayed the same immature person. But still her performance will always be a favourite of mine. The true star here was Joel Grey who was truely amazing as the leader of the dancing troupe. Considering the mind blowing music the duo composer/writers presented 30 years later in CHICAGO here i was a bit dispointed by it coz it didn;t dazzle me as it was supposed to do. But one good thing was the main song Cabaret which was truly a mindblower and one of the best songs introduced in a movie ever, coz after all "Life is a Cabaret old chum so come to the CABARET!" |

Brokeback Mountain (2005, R)
Although i didn't think that the movie deserved all the buzz it got but it is nontheless one of the few true movies that are released every year which actually has something new to give to the viewers. I didn;t quite understandd why Ang Lee got every directing award for this movie, he did a great job but i found it typical and not that awesome. Steven Speilberg should have got the oscar for Munich instead of him. The strong thing here was the acting by the whole ensemble specially Jake Gyllenhall who gave his best performence yet and Anne Hathaway who amazed me in the scene where she was telling Heath Ledger how her husband died, i was like starring at her with amazement. |

My Fair Lady (1964, G)
My fair lady is the 60's musical classic that will stay alive forever. It has a very nice storyline that will capture you from the beginning with beautiful songs specially "I would have danced all night" which is one of the best movie songs ever. And all the songs comes in the right place adding the perfect mood to the movie. The director did a great job bringing this broadway musical to the big screen capturing the perfect mood of that era specially the scenes where the singing happen in the street, i found them very bright and the whole setting of the house of Rex Harrison was very causy and familiar and likable. Rex Harrison was very good although he didn't give the Oscar winning performence but he was very memorable here. Audrey Hepburn didn't give her best concidering what she can do in acting (per exemple breakfast at tiffany's) and i didn't like the fact that she wasn't the one singing her songs. But her horse race scene was amazing and she was sooooo funny in her first public appearing as a lady. And after that scene she made a transformation in her interpretation and she gave a wonderfull performance. |

The Simpsons Movie (2007, PG-13)
Finally a movie I have been dying to watch and didn?t turn out to be a complete disappointment. Actually The Simpsons Movie was everything I expected it to be as a die hard fan of the long running series and as a movie lover. It?s the cheesy cocky stupid summer flick that entertains and serves as a delightful cinematic treat for all ages. Of course most of that talk comes from my love to the series but it?s still the truth. Seeing a family that became iconic during 17 years and known by almost every person in the world was a hilarious delight that you can?t miss. |

Midnight Express (1978, R)
The quest for freedom has never been any greater or more glorious then in Midnight Express where we live and experience those horrible years spent in prison with Brad Davis in a career defining performance. The 70?s didn?t come up with many great movies but Midnight Express is sure a boost to show the best of that decade and the rare cinematic genius who rose to fame during it. |

Ben-Hur (1959, G)
Ben-Hur prooves why movie making is a noble art. It trespasses the boundaries of a movie to become a world on its own. It probably tells one of the most beautiful stories ever with a more beautiful screenplay that reveals many sides of one's personality showing numerous deviations it can take. And it has some messages to send to people these days who forgot faith and are living a low life. William Wyler did an outstanding job taking on this immence movie and putting it all together in a magnificent way. And the horse race scene was mind blowing, it surpasses every car race scene we can see in modern movies. It took my breath away from its beginning coz it was done with enormous precision and it prooved some real genius. Charlton Heston deserved in every word his oscar coz he gave mind and strenght to present his character in best way he can, we saw him growing with the mental evolution his character is going throug and the whole cast was also amazing and they all gave the best. And i can't forget the absolute HUGE set it has i was amazed and the costumes were great too. And the music was very inspiering and smartly mixed with the scenes. |

Sabrina (1954, Unrated)
I don't know why but I always end up crying when watching Audrey Hepburn acting. It's just her special accent and her beautiful smile drawn on her wonderful face. And here, singing one of my favorite songs "La Vie En Rose". I just cracked. She just has this mysterious charm where you can't help but smile or feel your heart leep from its place (or in my case stop beating at all) because of the beautiful way she puts soul into her character. At first when she was playing the naive side of her character I had ny doubts and was a bit shocked coz I know what she's capable of. But agter her transofrmation, she stood up strong on her feet and gave this amazing performence. As for the overall, the movie was very good ad actually became one of the very few romantic movies i like. It has a very typical plot abd very usual characters but it still managed to be original. Billy Wilder did a great job as usual at directing. He has this weird way of mixing drama and comedy together. And i especially liked the romantic scenes which were very touching. And whar could have made this movie better then the presence of the screen's legen Humphrey Bogart who added class and nobelty playing this childish lover after many more serious roles. But i surprisngly prefered the performence of William Holden who was so natural playing this playboy. |

Requiem for a Dream (2000, R)
I don't know how, i don't know why but from the instance the movie starts you will be stuck to the screen and won't look out for even a second. Although the movie deals with not such an original issue but it was unexplainable how it had this power and this nightmarish sense that makes us feel that we are stuck between reality and the world of dreams. When the movie start you loose all consciousness and go into a nightmare that will leave you disturbed. The movie shows why everything must have a limit and we should all have control on ourselves to let goals become obsessions. I loved the scenes where we watch the hallucinations of Ellen Burstyb character. It had such mellowness and a lyrical sense that we feel we're watching an opera. Those scenes were the strongest point in the movie. And it will remind you a lot of Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange. The director used a lot of his style in some scenes. But what will touch you most is the totally under-rated AMAZING music which really is one of the best i have ever heard in a motion picture. The acting was very good especially by Ellen Burstyn who showed craziness in such a matural way that we see that she entered her character to the most and it's just so inspiering. I can't believe she didn't get the oscar. She was 100 times better then julia Roberts. |

Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) (2001, R)
Amelie is one of those rare simple movies which you watch them and at the end you leave with a big smile on your face with a lot of emotions in your heart you want to express. The most lovable thing in this amazing french movie is the simple screenplay, people are doing dumb things but it makes you look at them from an emotional eye as if you are looking at a little baby growing and love them. Evry character was different from the other and everyone was more lovable then the other. Another great thing in this awesome movie is the master performence by Audrey Tautou whp proved that she's an international talented actress. She gave the character its simple and occasinally idiot sense and deserved to be nominated for best actress coz she was great. At the end i want to talk about the director jean-pierre Jeunet who was utterly amazing helming this movie and the amazing cinematographer who manipulated lights in a phenomenal way to bring the right colour to the movie. |

Cinderella (1950, G)
Cinderella is the classic disney animated musical that has a lesson to give to every person from every age. I think this was the first disney movie i've seen and i still like it till now coz it has all the ingredients of an entertaining movie. It has a beautiful story to tell filled with very funny situation and the screenplay is very lovable and smart with lots of cute characters that everybody will like. And the songs are so nice that they will stck in your head. |

Some Like It Hot (1959, Unrated)
Although i was expecting some more laughs out of Some like it hot but it truely deserves the title of one of the greatest comdies ever. The whole idea of cross dressing was adapted in many movies over the years, but Some like it hot stands as the most prestigeous one ever because of the smart story it tells which doesn't only deals with the comic situations of two guys dressed up like women, but with the story of two guys running for their lives and it has a nice love story to tell. And the brilliant direction of Billy Wilder who didn't over do it with unplausable actions like modern movies, he kept it simple and turned out to be very enjoyable. But what i liked most here is the fabulous and amazing performence of Jack Lemmon who gave one of the best i have ever seen. He was the only thing that made me laugh and his dancing scene was maybe the funniest one i have ever seen. I didn't quite like Marilyn Monroe here although she was very glamorous and sensational in her singing scenes but her acting parts didn't work. |

Toy Story (1995, G)
Toy story is one of the best adventure movie that you will ever watch. The screenplay is amazing, first it has lots of great characters and it shows their developement through the movie in a clear and perfect way. And it uncovers lots of feelings going from pride and happiness to jealousy and evilness. And it shows them in a very smart way. And there is no boring moments here, it's all fun filled. And the animation was really awesome considering the time of the movie. |

Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi) (2001, PG)
Spirited away isn't just a great animated movie, it's a whole magical journey by itself which will capt you from beginning to end. What's reallly nice in this movie is the amazing screenplay which is filled with wonders and magic and sweetness. It focus on the journey of a little girl trying to help her parents out from a curse. But the stroy created a whole new world a magical which can't be described simply, it's sophisticated and smart. And one of the most ebtertaining movies ever. |

Todo Sobre Mi Madre (All About My Mother) (1999, R)
Pedro Almodovar wrote and directed a mastrepiece to add it to his many prestigious work that will never die and will stay in the memory of everyone who understands the true meaning of cinema. I don't find anyone who has this look at life like Almodovar has. Imagine this story how open minded and makes you think about life. A mom who lost her only son goes back to her home city and takes care of a transvestive prostitute, a pregnant nun and two lesbian actress. He introduces characters and personalities people just don't expect a lot while going to the mvoies so he surprises them when tranforming those characters into lovable funny people that will enter our heart. His look at life is so inspiering and he really is a living legend. The way he showed at first the relationship between the mother and her son was really sweet so at the moment of the lost we feel her sorrow and maybe cry (as i did). And then we see how she changed the life of every person she met after her life was changed. |
|
| 73 |
Toy Story 2 (1999, G)
Toy Story 2 is the perfect animated movie, not because it tells a great story but because it lives up to match the great first toy story movie. I liked how there was lots of new characters here, and almost all of them are very lovable specially BullsEye. And the way the story takes it turn was really smart, although it has almost the same story line of the first one, but it had some new twists that added to it the originality sense. And the finale revealing the true villain was really surprising and i think movie makers should learn from animated movies how to surprise people. |

| 74 |
Murder by Death (1976, PG)
who said a murder cant be funny. I don't recall laughing as hard as i did when i was watching murder by death. Although the screenplay has lots of flaws, but the comedy here is very smart and original. Although the idea of 10 people invited to a mansion is taken from the famous Agatha Christie book called ten little negros but the very smart jokes and made it a very pretigious coedy. The screenplay takes us from one oath to another with a little joke on each turn which makes a very enjoyable ride. The performences are really great and every member of the cast delivered what the character needs to be alive. |
|
| 75 |
Saving Private Ryan (1998, R)
Knowing that a golden duo such as Tom Hanks and Steven Speilberg are working together i couldn't expect less then what they presented. the movie is a true masterpeice in every small detail of it. Steven was amazing and he totally desreved the oscar coz he gave one of his best works ever. As for Tom Hanks he was utterly amazing as the leader of the troop. But what i admired the most is the cinematographer job. the lights and colour gave to the movie really took us back to world war 2 and to the dramatic scenes facing the troop looking for private ryan. |
|
| 76 |
Disney's Aladdin (1992, G) |

| 77 |
A Clockwork Orange (1971, R)
Stanley Kubrick presented here one of his second greatest job ever as a director (first 2001:a space odyssey) His look of this tourblled futuristic worl was amazing and highly imaginative. And his way in visualising things and putting them all together prooves what a genius here really is. And although he showed this world as a bit of sex addict but knew how to deal with it not tranforming it into an erotic movie. The screenplay is really good, and it might be conisdred as a lesson for all the bad ass youth who are wondering the streets looking for troubles. Here we see how the circumstances of our ignorence may be very hard for us to handle. And that nothing goes unpunished. For every action there's a reaction. But what i loved most here was the amazing performence of Malcolm McDowel who showed some serious talent here and i'm really disapointed that he wasn't considered at the oscars. |
|
| 78 |
Tootsie (1982, PG)
Over the years people only focused on the comic side of Tootsie, but this movie has a lot of complicated emotions to express. Although the whole love triangles were very funny but they reveal feelings in a very brilliant and sophisticated way. The screenplay is very detailed and important although not so many people will dress up as women just to get a role but it was pretty logical they way it showed it. But i wished that the ending will be different, coz we always see the revealing part in public and for once i would like to see it done in private. The performence of Dustin Hoffman was really amazing in his best work as an actor, i just loved him when he was playing his female role and we feel that we have an actress in front of us. He got into the skin of the character and played it in a very natural way. And the whole cast was pretty good too, and jessica lange deserved the oscar she got. |

Out of Africa (1985, PG)
There?s no wonder Out of Africa is one of the 80?s most known and memorable movies since it has Sidney Pollack as director and a cast lead by the amazing Meryl Streep supported by Robert Redford. A movie with such people in it simply can?t go wrong, and at the end you get a timeless classic to watch over and over even after 20 or 30 years from its original release. |

Cinema paradiso is the celebration of pure movie making. This movie about cinema passion and love turned out to be one of the greatest movie experiences i have ever had. I don't recall crying in a movie as much as i did here, i know embarassing but just looking at little toto will make tears jerk out of your eyes. The way the screenplay focuses on this little kid and his growing emotions for cinema and other matters in life was very brilliant and made excelently so it will enter right into your heart and touch your emotions in a rare and amazing way. Every movie lover will see himself through little Toto, i know i did and that what toughed me most. The direction of giuseppe tornatore was amazing he knew how to mix pure comedy with drama and emotions so he would present this small community with its innocence. I loved the acting by all the three actors who played the different parts of Silvatore's life. Specially the young one who was very good. and i liked the woman who played Salvatore's old mom, i found her the best in the whole movie. this movie is hard not to be loved, it's nice funny emtional tragic everything someone could ever ask out of a movie and we'll find ourselves in a paradise watching it. |

A Beautiful Mind (2001, PG-13)
Movies can't get much better than this. It tellsa true story in a way that can't be out done. The screenplay is very memorable and emotional and it is really interesting. The life of a great jenius and his struggle with scizophrenia. As for Ron Howard, he really prooved that he's one of the best director nowadays coz he did an amazing job knowing how to give every scene the perfect mood and leading all the actors on the right road. And i can't forget the amazing performences that were given by every member of the cast. Specially the two leads. Russel Crow got in a scary way into the skin of his character and played it in a very impressing way but the star was Jennifer Connely who was very convincing and she deserved the oscar she got. |

Volver (2006, R)
Pedro Almodovar proves again that he is a one of a kind genius who out matches any living director or screen writer there is nowadays. No one knows how to take an inconvenient or rather odd concept and turn it into an inspirational classic that raises his name more and more. Dealing with the idea of what after death and spirits reappearing could have been destroyed by any modern screen writer and turn it into a dumb thriller. But Almodovar took it and owed the audience with a starteling beginning then turning ideas with many twists in the middle to arrive to a rational and surprising not expected ending taht will make you think how a person can come up with these kind of ideas. Almodovar will always be a name that will be remembered by every true moviegoer and Volver is another of his many modern masterpeices. And the way he usually mixe comedy with drama is just wonderful and intelligent. As for the acting, i never thought of Penelope Cruz as a true talented actress although her acting in Non Ti Muovore was amazing but i thought it was a one-in-a-career perfor, mance but she prooved that she has a great hidden talent after what she did here. She was glamorous yet she knew how to appear as this mother dealing with life's problem which was really brilliant. It was like a transformation since she's known for being a sex-symbol and acting here like that was very impressive. And of course all the other cast members were great too. It's a one of a kind all female cast that prooves that women doesn't have to act like bitches to be amazing on-screen. They showed what a true acting ensemble is made of by giving an amazing performance that enlightened the screen. |

North by Northwest (1959, Unrated)
I always knew that my favourite director Alfred Hitchcock is the master pf suspense but i never knew that he can master love and seduction in this amazing way. He once again prooved here that he's a legend mixing suspense with love in a brilliant way. I totally loved the seduction game he played at the first meeting of the two leads. And the finally scene was truely breathtaking. The whole mountain scene with everyone leaning over the edge on the verge of falling was extraordinary. The screenplay was very smart and the whole turns and sauciness were mastered brilliantly leaving no question unanswered excpet one and i don't know i think i didn't oay attention enough but i think they didn't explain why they took the lad character as Kaplan. But it just leaves us hanging there waiting to know the truth and what's behind everything leaving a little clue in every scene so at the end each peice of the puzzle will make a perfect picture. The acting wasn't that great but it was good and fair for each character. But as usual Hitchock chooses the right blondie to play the leading lady, although she's not as beautiful as other leading ladies but she had the right class and personality for the character. |

The Fox and the Hound (1981, G)
The fox and the hound is one of disney's most celebrated animated classics. The screenplay shows you the real essence of friendship and love, and reveals a many faces of life faced by many people in real world which gives it a sense of reality. The movie talks about animals but the story developps the characters giving them human caracterisations which makes them closer to every viewer. We see how close friendship can get between two people and how easily it can be broken because of stupid and material things. The story is very deep and very sweet and all the characters are heartwarming and lovable. The last collaboration between disney's old and new artists made one of disney's greatest movies. |

Roman Holiday (1953, Unrated)
I know this might sound crazy but nowadays one thing is causing me sorrow and sadness and it's the fact that Audrey Hepburn coz i think i'm in love. She's such a sweatheart with her way of talking and her looks and the smile on her face which drives me crazy. And knowing that this was her debut movie and she won an oscar for it and was only 23 years old makes her an inspiration for all the young actresses. Now as for the movie. Youy don't have to spend money to travel to italy coz this movie is an amazing trip to this marvellous city Rome. The moive is just a big great job done by every member of the cast and group. the screenplay was so cute and nice and tells a very beautiful love story which have been remade in many movies but the great thing about it is that the ending went out of the cliché love stories ending and was plausible for the situation of the two main characters. As for William Wilder, he knew how to get a lot of his two stars and made them give their best. And he knew how to take the best scenaries of Rome to show it at its best and that the viewer will enjoy his journey with the two main characters. And it was actually a one of a lifetime journey. As for the stars. Gregory Peck gave a very good performence which sadly wasn't recognised |

Hauru no ugoku shiro (Howl's Moving Castle) (2005, PG)
One of the most visually spell binding animated movies, Howl's Moving Castle is a one of a kind magical experience that mixes magic with romance in the most wonderful way. The beauty of this story that it doesn't have your typical characters such as a wise know-it-all wizard and a dreaming young lady. They took this character to a new level where we see their childish side brining them closer to reality even if they were in the most unrealistic situations. And it's just filled with the most lovable characters and the screenplay is magical and captivating making it one of the best fantasies. As for the visuals, it has one of the greatest mix of colours ever in an animated movie. The use of colours for light was really magnificent and gives it this realistic sense where you forget animation and it's all colourful and bright making it better for the eyes and the atmosphere surrounding the movie. And if it was a live action movie it would have been appreciated for it's cinematography. |

Lion king is annother mind blowing success for disney. And it is one of their best works in animation from techincs to story till music. This movie which is breifly based on Shakespear's Hamlet, has an amazing screenplay, it deas which savage animals and show them as noble creatures in an unimaginable way. And it explores their personalities giving them human charactirisations from love to hate. And i have to say the score is magnificent and i loved all the songs here specially the circle of life which is truely inspiering. |

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966, Unrated)
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf represents a pure meal to everyone who is lucky enough to watch it and enjoy the greatness and the perfectness put together in this masterpeice. First we heave a feast for the eyes represented by the four leads who clearly gave the greatest performances of their career. The age was a factor in the scale of rating the acting since the senior couple was ahead of the junior couple in order of deapth and maturity. Elizabeth Taylor shines brightly here playing this loud vulgar woman with such confidence and intelligence passing through the many phases this character goes through and doing it with style changing her facial expressions and reactions in a blink and mastering every scene with marvellous looks and personality. Same for Richard burton who had probably one of the best lines ever, he swayed smoothly through his classy english with a perfect tone giving the character the true sense it needed and he was such a show stealer with his solid and great interpretation. George Segal and Sandy Dennis both gave very impressive performances although they didn't get the chance to shine enough in front of the master works of Taylor and Burton but they prooved themselves. On the other side, the movie is a double feast for the ears, we have on one hand a beautiful score and on the other a genius brilliant dialogue. Never a script went smoothly through many sides of one's personality like this one did. It rises with class and screams with rage and makes you live every situation and enjoy the actors while talking. This is a movie for true movie goers since it is the kind of works which explores each character it has to the fullest and here we have two of the most complexe characters played by Taylor and Burton and witnessing their one night fight with represented the higher level of their complexes is one of the best cinematic experiences one could ever ask for. |

Titanic (1997, PG-13)
What can I say about Titanic other than it is one of the greatest romantic movies ever made. Everything here seems to work in a very ordered and well done way. First the screenplay is really well written telling not one story but 1000 ones and dealing with all of them and mising them together in a smart way so every scene is important to the story. Second, James Cameron did an amazing job knowing how do bring into this movie the emotional factor choosing the right camera angle with the right and perfect music with it. Third the acting, Kate Winslett was truley amazing and prooved that she's one of the Elite actresses now and i think she should ahve taken the oscar that year, but also leonardo dicaprio was good although i don't like him much. And fourth and finally i will talk about the best thing in this movie which is the beautiful and amazing music. It really is special and emotional and has this nostalgic feeling which alone will take on a trip of memories that will make you think of your life and know how to take the right decisions. |

The Matrix (1999, R)
The matrix is one of those few smart sophisticated movies where even if you didn't quite understand everything that is happening you'll still have a blast watching it. The screenplay is very creative and highly original with all new ideas to sweep us away with greatness. And the direction was very professional that it created a new era of action movies and a way to use slow motion. The fight scenes were amazing you feel excited when watching them and involved and it's the same for the visuals which were awesome. I didn't like the acting but they managed to deliver something acceptable. I was disapointed that the oscars only considered the technical side of this movie leaving behind its genius, i thought it truely deserved to be nominated and win the best original screenplay award. |

Chocolat (2000, PG-13)
When i first watched Chocolat i was looking at the screen and thinking what a beautiful movie this is. The whole story of a close minded community who's peice was disturbed by a woman and her chocolaterie was pretty original and inspiering. I totaly loved the performences by the whole cast. Juliette Binoch was amazing along with the talented and next to be a legen Johnny Depp and the phenomenal Judi Dench. All of them gave Oscar Caliber performences. The music written for the movie knew how to capture the feeling of the small town and progressed with the evolution of the story. |

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Il Buono, il Brutto, il Cattivo.) (1966, R)
One of the most under-rated movies of all time but still it managed to become the inspiering element leading to many movies and video games of the same genre. All that thanks to Sergio Leone's really amazing work where he created some cult scenes which became standards in a perfect western movie. Per example, the presentation scene of the good, the bad and the ugly was brilliant and especially the cemetary scene which was really a masterpeice. And alongside Ennio Morricone's wonderful musical score which became the signature of the west the movie couldn't get any better. Although it was very focused and put the light on all the details of those three characters leaving no question unanswered and explainging how every character got to the place where it is but there are some scenes where the movie gets a bit boring and it was pretty long for such a story but it didn't ruin the fun of watching it. And the great thing in it was that although each adjective represents one of the three main characters but they managed to show the good, the bad and the ugly in each one of them which was another positif point in the movie. The performances were great especially Clint Eastwood's who played this wise strong cowboy perfectly giving him his cold and pale sense and living the style of the character at the same time. And i just loved the guy playing the ugly one he was the funny element in the movie and he was brilliant. |

Traffic (2000, R)
Traffic is one of these great movies where you just can't find a weak link. Everything is in the right place and everybody is doing more than a great job. Steven Soderbergh manipulated the colour of the movie so it will go with the setting and issue dealt with. Like when we are on the Benicio Del Toro part he gave this yellowish colour so we can feel the heat of this desert, and on the michael douglas part he gave the bluish colour so we will feel the drama surrounding his life. As for the cast, they were all awsome, specially Benicio Del Toro and Catherine Zeta Jones who both gave Oscar caliber performences but sadly Catherine didn't get a nomination. The screenplay is very smartly written dealing with the main issues threatening modern soceyeties and it really showed the drama covering it and how people can get carried away with the negative waves. |

Bad Education (La Mala educación) (2004, NC-17)
First of all i wana say thanks for the great opening credits that will remind us all of the legen director Alfred Hitchcock. I really believe that Pedro Almodovar is the greatest stroyteller/moviemaker nowadays. He just chooses hidden parts of the human personality and explores them in such a magnificient way that is really really inspiering and puts him as a role model for growing directors and screenwriters. To understand more the story we should go beyond the limits of the homosexuality of the characters. The darkness of the people we see in the movie leads to a lot of debates and thinking on how far will a person go. How low he will get to take what he wants. How some desires might lead to catastrophes. And at last how a guy will turn against his brother for the public view. And Pedro Almodovar writes all those things with intelligence and a great attention for details. And the way he directed everything, missleading us at first and then everything comes clear in an outstanding resolution that will Ow us. It's not his best work but it's still up to his name. And i can't talk about this movie without bringing up the mindblowing performence by Gael Garcia Bernal which marks his career and goes down as his best performence yet. I loved his performence as a man but it was nothing compared with his talent when he was playing his transvestive brother. Hats off for him. |

Match Point (2005, R)
After a blow in the beginning of the year, Woody Allen wrapped with a mind blowing out of this world amazing psychological thriller. For once i watched a movie where i was interesting in everything taht is happening and the best thing is you won't know what will the ending be like. The screenplay is amazing, the greatness of every character is its badness and everyone has dirty little secrets that make us more interested by them. And woody allen will just amaze by unpredictable scenes one right after the other. I loved Scarlett Johnason here, she was amazong and too bas the academy awards didn't consider her for the best supperting actress award. Match point has to be one of the most entertaining movie expreiences i have ever had. |
