Dirty Carnival (2007,  Unrated)
Dirty Carnival
This is one of the best Korean gangster movies I've ever seen. It's both realistic and entertaining at the same time. A must see for sure.
2
Election (Hak se wui) (2005,  Unrated)
Election (Hak se wui)
The first film where I discovered about the excistence of this great director. I've seen Fulltime Killer before this one but didn't left an lasting impression as this. I always enjoyed Triad/Jakuza films but this takes the whole genre into another level. To manages to keep you interested and guessing throughout most of the story. Only around the ending it gets a bit confusing and on the long side. But for the rest it's probably is one of the best Asian Gangster films.
3
Cidade de Deus, (City of God) (2003,  R)
Cidade de Deus, (City of God)

6
Fong juk (Exiled) (2006,  R)
Fong juk (Exiled)
Some people cry when they see something so beautiful that it hurts their eyes. I've cried many times over a film, purely for its beauty or sadness but never over a gangster film. That is till I saw Johnnie To's Exiled. The best gunfuelled Asian gangster I've seen for ages.
This film has everything: good but simple story, loveable/funny characters, great villains and the best gunfights you'll ever see. I thought John Woo was good at showing amazing gunfights till I saw the craftsmanship of To. That guy has an amazing eye for detail and not to mention a great ear for a music score. I loved the whole Portuguese vibe of the score which makes the streets of Macau come a life. Not to mention the scenes of Macau?s beautiful architecture, at first I thought they shot it in some European country.

11
Cheung fo (The Mission) (1999,  Unrated)
12
Bamako (2006,  Unrated)
Bamako
A current issue told from the point of view of the people who face it everyday. Story is very touching, just a tad too long and distant is some parts. I don't know much about the director to fully understand what is trying to tell or where his views stand. Still a must see just for the educational value of it.

Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (2004,  PG)
Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars
It may not have had the perfect ending for the BEST tv-serie that the world has ever seen, but at least it got an ending. After giving us four years of joy, Farscape the tv-serie was cancelled for not having 'enough viewers". Farscape always tried to go further then most series, give us the best character developments and the most touching stories (hey, what can I say I?m proper Scaper). Thanks to the makers they eventually gave us this great, not perfect TV film, which tried to give it the closure it deserved.
I finally giving up the hope of seeing it again on TV, but I still watch it with the same pleasure as before. To me John & Aeryn are the best TV couple ever.

A very moving story.
49
Carandiru (2004,  R)
Carandiru
A very moving story based on the true story of the inmates of the prison Carandiru, told by the point of view of the inmates. They shared their life stories to only one person who they could trust; the doctor.
50
Citizen Kane (1941,  PG)

Even if it wasn't the greatest movie ever made in history, I still would have loved it too pieces. I can't believe that it took me 23 years before I laid eyes on this film. Orson Welles is a pure genius.

Trainspotting (1996,  R)
Trainspotting
I never thought that drug abuse could ever be portrait like that in a movie. So disgusting, so fun and the same time so real.
Without romanticizing it, Danny Boyle tells it like it is. I loved minute of it.
71
Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003,  R)
Kill Bill: Volume 1
One of the best of Quetin Tarantino. Can't wait for Grindhouse.
72
Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) (2001,  R)
Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain)
This film is one of the most positive films out there. Amelie is so refreshing and so full of life. I wish I had a look of life like hers. Cinematographically speaking it is top notch and mind blowing. Every colour matches the feelings of the characters. Audrey Tautou brings Amelie with so much energy that you just can't help fall for her. Actually this is one of the few movies that really deserve the term Romantic Comedy. All the others are just cheap knock-offs. The balance between drama and comedy is well balanced. I haven't seen a lot of French Cinema but this is my favourite so far.
