Punch-Drunk Love - R really fast soundtracks, tiring movie.absolutly strange story and not too funny.but i kinda like it.one of the best Adam sandler acting. And P.T. Anderson deserves care for his idealism. One of the greatest directors of future. December 25, 2009

Uzak (Distant) - Unrated (The first paragraph will be in English, second one will be Turkish)

I havent seen a movie which has more natural acting and dialogs than "Distant".But i know why.Because director,Nuri Bilge Ceylan is one of the smartest directors in the world. He had used his own house and car for this movie. And he wanted to shoot it somewhere different. But when he woke up and see it is snowy in Istanbul. He changed his mind and shoot this great scened movie in Istanbul. So the movie is natural cause he isnt in the unknown place. And he has picked the best actors for their roles.Thats why the actors get Cannes Award. They werent playing a much different person too.But the reason that i gave it 4.5 stars is:the story isnt strong as i though. But director's telling makes movie much more better and strong. And the suitable word "Natural" for this movie.

Ah ?u Nuri Bilge Ceylan ya da Fatih Akin gibileri olmasa sinema dünyas? bizi nasil taniyacakti acaba?Recep Ivedikle taniyacak deiller herhalde.

Taxi Driver - R I watched this movie 3 times(i know a low number for a fan) and i want to watch it much more. But i dont want to review this masterpiece.I want the tagline to talk for me: On every street in every city, there's a nobody who dreams of being a somebody.Of course a movie like "Taxi Driver" isnt only saying this. But i dont have to blab.Give this masterpiece a try;understand it,empathy with Travis, and let the movie speak. But there is a thing i want to say:"This is Cinema." Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb - PG I think the ridiclous (a bit) story of "Dr. Strangelove",is to put war in a ridiclous place.I said ridiclous because if you look at the actual story (a general orders to send nuclear bombs to Russia because of the thinking that they are poisoning drinking water) looks a little pulp. But Stanley Kubrick is a master of making this story believeable and normal.

But i cant speak all about genius Kubrick.Gotta talk about genius Peter Sellers too.His acting of three characters has a big advantage for this masterpiece.Espeically Dr. Strangelove.

I love brave movies.Thats why "Dr. Strangelove:Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" is one of my favourites. It is critctizing one of the biggest problems of our times:Politics.

A Clockwork Orange - R I read the book too.And i can say Kubrick didnt adapted it as the same of course.Stanley Kubrick is an idealist director.I would surprise if he adapted it as same.So first i want to talk about the difference of book and movie.Because you can read "Clockwork Orange is a masterpiece!" from every review.I can say it too.But i want to talk about something different.
First of all there isnt any date or year.A normal director would adapted it as the present time.Because Alex and his droogies are wearing black tights in the book. This is increasing the possibility of the story is in 70s.But Kubrick has used a clever trick. He didnt give date like Burgess but movie's decoration is waay more modern from 70s and Droogies are wearing white different clothes. So it is increasing the possibility of it is in future in our mind. That makes sense for me.Because i think violence wont stop untill mankind die.
Other than these differences, there are only small changes if i dont remember wrong. Not that small...Alex is drug raping a 10 year old girl, instead of sleeping with two girls like in the film(one of my favourite and the most creative scene of the movie),and Droogies are beating an old librarian (book) instead of a drunk hobo (movie) and the book is finishing just after Alex is ...spoilers...........cured.
Yup,these are the differences of movie and the book. But i think this story is more fitting to Cinema.Violence is the biggest fact on this though. You can make violence more massive with picture (if you are a brave director).
Actually there is an interesting though of mine that i want to share:Both book and movie trying to do the same thing that happened to Alex. Both of them are showing massive and unnecessary violence scenes. So they want to make us avoid violence. That was the thing they did to Alex:They showed him violence to cure him.And my though is:The book or movie (espeically movie) is trying to do the same to us.That is a strong possibility, isnt it?
But maybe Anthony Burgess or Stanley Kubrick didnt think this way.If they though like i said, they would draw up strong violence scenes unneccesarly and without a story to make us avoid to do violence(just like Alex). But it couldnt get any attention without a story. So my thogh is still strong :).
I would like to say "Just enjoy it!" but "Clockwork Orange" is a movie that you must understand, make a lesson and crictize mankind and its love of violence...But still i dont get...Why "an orange"?
I was thinking to end review with that question. But i get why it is "an orange".Goverment wants people who wont hurt them.An orange cant hurt you...

Requiem for a Dream - R Even the trailer is enough to cold my blood. One of the toughest movies ever.I can say Raw.It is not like eating beef in a restaurant. It is like eating beef in a Butcher. So i agree it is Fucking ?nsane.

I loved every Aronofsky movie i have seen.Pi,Wresler...And finally Requiem for a Dream. And his style is highly different.Maybe too stuffy because almost every scene has different editing. Some are fast, some are in slow motion. Some in move-wipe.Some in Fish-eye.And a lots of cut. While cuts there are funny voices.Like the part that Sara was eating her first diet meal.

Other than directing, audiences' relation with characters was mixed. You dont know how to feel. You are feeling for Marion, but in a other way it is her own decision. No one is forcing her.Except drugs. In other way:Drugs raped Marion.Yes,drugs...not drug dealers. And drugs cut Harry's...Anyway i shouldnt spoil everything.Watch it.It is heavy but will help with your life.

Rocky - PG Dont you love box movies?always winning awards.Because mostly famous boxer has a other side.like in "Ragging Bull".Jake La Motta had dark sides in his marriage. But im here to write about "Rocky".i think title "Rocky" is very fit for this movie.cause i think the most interesting part of the film was the character of Rocky Balboa. He carries a bouncing ball in his pocket,he dresses good,he has talent for boxing but he is working for a broker.also Adrian was very intersting character too.Rocky is funny, handsome and he loves Adrian.Adrian is shy, beautiful(but doesnt look beautiful) and she loves Rocky but she isnt showing him love.and their kissing scenes was maybe the weirdest kissings of all time.

I think Sly's acting was the best of his life.because he has created "Rocky".he has talent.then he played Rambo and ruined all.But his senario was very good too.Rocky's moves and dialogs were great.and i loved that Box match in finale.

When you watch it,your bad mood will dissappear and you will swing fists while singing "Eye of the tiger"!

Üç Maymun (Three Monkeys) - Unrated The first paragraph will be in English and the second one will be in Turkish.

The widest movie of Nuri Bilge Ceylan.Because everyone can watch it without getting bored.I love his movies nad i watched all of his movies without getting bored. But i agree his technique is not for our time youth (fast food eaters). It is for the people who loves and respects Cinema.the people like this will love this movie as they love all of his movies. But the thing i want to say is:"Three Monkeys" is the most watchable movie of Nuri Bilge Ceylan.Other of him,you have listen and watch carefully to understand what it wants to say.But in this, story is more clear. So it is the least personal movie of Nuri Bilge Ceylan.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan'in filmleri genellikle belli bir kitleye hitab eder. Bunu yapmasini uzun zamandir istiyordum.Bravo!

The Bothersome Man (Den Brysomme mannen) - Unrated Camera using great. But i think a movie must say something.Ok,"Bothersome Man" is really saying something. It critize the machine people.I mean the people which only talks about and do the same thing. For example Andreas's first girlfriend always talking about furnitures and decoration of his home.Thats annoying. And when Andreas wants to escape society exclude him.So Jens Lien wants to critizes this machine people. But doing this with a disguised language. He could say this with a more clear language. So what i want to say is:Movie could be less symbolic and clear. For example i didnt know Andreas has gone to after-life before i read the plot.I would love the movie if it was less symbolic. But i liked it anyway. 4 Luni, 3 Saptamâni si 2 Zile (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days) - R The purest cinema you will ever see.Of course not everyone's cup of tea.Maybe there is only a milion people who can love this on the earth. But if you dont like the movie,it is atill a success for it.For example, when Kieslowski's "A short movie about Killing" showed in the Cannes Festival many people left the theater before it ends. But for Kieslowski, that is what it needs to be.Still i cant recommend you to watch this with your friends or parents. redacted - R The most shocking movie i have seen since i born. And i have watched "Requiem for a dream" too.But "Redacted" effected me more.I think rape is the most unhuman act of the mankind. And when Brian De Palma mixes this with tragedy of Iraq and documentary camera,it blows your mind and you are starting to swear to rapists and war and Bush. And story telling isnt with only documentary camera, sometimes De Palma takes you to YouTube's web pages or security cameras. After a moment you are feeling like at is real.So thats why it is the most effective movie i have seen. The Great Dictator - G Some of you can say "not the funniest Chaplin movie" but you cant deny its braveness.Actually i didnt watched "Monsieur Verdoux" but it should be more brave.Because they banished Chaplin after that movie. But i watched this one.And i agree it is the best of Charlie Chaplin. Annie Hall - PG One of those rare American movies witch is not everyone's cup of tea.Actually Woody Allen really surprized me.He must be an ultimate cinemalover.Because "Annie Hall" hasnt got a classic story telling.I didnt gave this movie the attention it deserves.I did the same thing to "The Graduate" too and i loved that movie.Same thing happened on this too.I though this was a normal American movie with a classic story telling. But i think Annie Hall will be very different than you expect (If you didnt watched it yet).Maybe you will hate it.My dad and my friend hated it so much that im sure that my friend wont watch a movie with me again.Actually i know why did they hated it.Because it is too much entelegy,big-head and chatty. But at least it has a wide world vision about relationships between people. So i think it is one of the most useful movies to watch. Oldboy - R It can be a little confusing before watching it.You can ask questions like "Why he has five days" or "How did they fall in love so easily".And movie is not answering them until the finale. And it has good reason.Finale... Yes finale is answering all of your questions. But you have to wait of course. And not boring wait.Movie is really enjoyable all the time. With stunts, editing, camera tricks, funny happenings. And im sure that you will love stunts.I think "oldboy" is a new kind of action which will be loved both actionlovers and art-movielovers. Le Notti di Cabiria (Nights of Cabiria) - Unrated I must say i was waiting more from my favourite director. But more what?I dont know neither.Maybe a little more...I still dont know. But usually Golden Palm nominated movies are different and surrealistic."Nights of Cabiria" was realistic (for me at least) and not so much different. So script saves the movie to the boreness.I think a hooker who is looking for love is a good subject.Little details are making this movie more interesting.Like the part that Cabiria and her friends went to the...i cant remember easily cause i wacthed this long time ago...a religious place and she critizes religion like Fellini always does.He was critizing religion in "8½" too. Also there was a lady in "8½" who was doing Samba too.But Cabiria is better at Samba. Not only at Samba,Giuletta Masina is acting very good.Maybe overrated...But (this can be overrated too) i have seen Charlie Chaplin in her acting! The Gold Rush - Unrated Chaplin once said "I want be remembered with this movie." or something like that. But the thing i want to say is,I think Chaplin loved this love like me.I dont know a person who would watch and didnt enjoy "Gold Rush".Ok,it was more dramatic than i though but still funny.Tramp looks funny even if he cries.I dont know you but i laughed every second. And that falling house part is unforgettable.Just like the ball dancing in The Great Dictator.Great Dictator is #4 in my best list.I put it there cause it is one of the funniest and braviest movies of all time.
I dont need to say more. You know it is funny...
