Eagle vs. Shark Eagle vs. Shark R
New Zealand seems to have some raving pride in being completely fucking mad, and nowhere is that better evident than here in the peculiar story of Lily and Jarrod, two awkward misfits who find each other and embark upon one hell of a random adventure in each other's company. Laugh-out-loud hilarious, totally unique, and full of Jemaine Clement, it's not bad at all...
The Invention of Lying The Invention of Lying PG-13
Aside from a minute long scene with Stephen Merchant and Barry from Eastenders, this whole movie is a total failure. There are a couple of funny moments, but 90% of the attempts at comedy are just plain embarrassing, and the storyline doesn't even make sense. The idea could have been alright, but really it's just 'Liar, Liar' in reverse, and done far worse. Really don't bother...

The Princess Bride The Princess Bride PG
A man visits his sick grandson to read to him 'The Princess Bride'- the tale of farmboy Westley and his infatuation with Buttercup, the simple-minded beauty who eventually catches on and realises she loves him back When parted by pirates and presumptions, the two are sucked into an adventure involving fireswamps, evil princes, kidnappers, miracles, torture devices, fencing, cliffs of insanity and true love. It's casted without flaw, the script is faithfully based on the novel and is therefore both painfully witty and endlessly quoteable, and the soundtrack is for me the second best movie soundtrack of all time. Oh yes, this one leaves them all behind...
Sleepy Hollow Sleepy Hollow R
Constable Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of decapitations, only to find himself plunged into the twisted mystery of the legendary Hessian Horseman. 'Sleepy Hollow' is the third Burton/Depp collaberation, but completely unlike the previous two- its sharp gothic visuals (which have since become Burton's trademark) show far more prominence, and the dark witty scripting is on another level. The inclusion of Danny Elfman's stunning score, and a great performances from the perfect Christina Ricci confirm it for me as Burton's best work, and for many years, it was my favourite film in the universe...
