William James takes over as the leader of the Us Bomb squad with only a certain number of days in their tour. He is taking over after Staff Sergeant Matt Thompson has killed during the diffusing of a bomb. Will doesn't follow the rules, he lives by his own and that puts those around him in danger. Staff Sergeant William James: There's enough bang in there to blow us all to Jesus. If I'm gonna die, I want to die comfortable. I have been reading everywhere this is up for best picture of 2009. It will surely get a nomination now that the number of nominees has been raised to 10. Will it win? My answer is going to have to be no. I say this because the film didn?t capture me and drag me away. Yes it was intense, but I felt like the attachment factor was missing. I understood the difficulties presented to these men, I just couldnt seem to get into what it was they were doing. It was an intense action film, and didn?t manage to take the step into greatness. I was hoping for more emotion, more physical response to what they were doing. There were two scenes based off of emotion. Yes I realize emotion plays into the tense moments, but I felt disconnected to those emotions, perhaps I just did not grasp how intense those situations are. But is it not the job of the film to want me to grasp the intensity. I did grasp the difficulty of being an army man, but not how much it affected these guys. That comes down to the leads, and they didn?t relay these emotions. Yes this film will be a front runner come Oscar time, and at other award shows. But 2009 had better films, with better acting that hopefully win out over this one. I realize this is a great film to those who have been to war and understand its complexities, but I just failed to grasp how emotionally gripping war was. The final scene of war was the only one that did in a film that finds its final runtime at 131 minutes. They should have went for that sooner, rather than later. Still I can see why people like this film. It was emotionally charged, but the emotional aspect is what I was hoping for. I guess I have more of a flare for the dramatics then the intense action. All in all a solid film, but not as solid as others. |

Tom meets Summer the day she begins working at the same office he works in. Tom writes greeting cards and automatically takes a liking to Summer. He thinks she is the one for him, and he tries his hardest to make her notice him. Eventually they end up talking and things begin to bloom from there. The only problem is Tom and Summer don?t want the same things. Tom wants a commitment and Summer doesn?t believe in true love. Summer: You weren't wrong, Tom. You were just wrong about me. Tom is shy he keeps to himself, he believes that one day he will find the girl of his dreams. Everyone wants to believe this and Tom sees his true love in Summer. Tom tries to win over Summer but he just can?t seem to crack her. She is dead set against love and Tom struggles to try and get her to let down her defences and fall in love. Joseph Gordon Levitt was perfect, Tom was quirky fun and a hopeless romantic. Levitt was Oscar worthy, all though he wont get it the performance was far better than many that have or will win Oscars. Yes I said Gordon Levitt is a big time actor, give him some credit here, this film was real, the struggles were real. Tom was exactly like someone we all know and had a little bit of each of us in him. That is why this film was so perfect and felt so authentic. Tom and Summer built something from nothing, and when it all came crashing down it was painful, Tom was so saddened, and Summer was just so able to keep going. She toyed with Tom after that, which was the saddest part of the entire film. Summer and Tom became another broken down relationship, another star for the books, but Tom had real feelings and his heartbreak just wouldn?t go away. Anyone who has ever felt rejection the sting of break up felt Toms pain. Tom: I love her smile. I love her hair. I love her knees. I love how she licks her lips before she talks. I love her heart-shaped birthmark on her neck. I love it when she sleeps But really what impressed me most, and I don?t want to be sexist here, is that the man had the feelings for the woman. Usually it is the man who doesn?t have the correct feelings, but it was good to see a role reversal and see a film where Men aren?t the targets of aggression. Summer hurt Tom, and it was sad to see that in a film. Films often tend to forget that men can have real feelings. Films often paint men as emotionless cold beings. I?m not saying Summer was emotionless and cold, but the complete opposite. She had strong emotions and she hurt Tom. Ultimately what I am saying is that this film was different from what I usually see. The man had his heart broken and couldn?t move forward. It just shows that men can have honest feelings too. I know I am rambling, I just don?t see a film of this nature very often. Narrator: Most days of the year are unremarkable. They begin, and they end, with no lasting memories made in between. Most days have no impact on the course of a life. May 23rd was a Wednesday. Easily going to find its way onto my faves list. Why? The story was rich with emotion, the characters were people I felt I knew, and the cast doesn?t have their faces painted all over bill boards, they didn?t have world class good looks, they looked average. From Levitt to Deschanel to Gubler to Arend, you felt for these people because the glamour of being a world famous star wasnt a part of this film. The perfect cast, easily better then a cast that would include Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Meryl Streep, Will Smith or any famous person. This cast was perfect because they needed to be. Hands down this film relied on its cast like any other film, but unlike many films featuring big actors, the cast needed to be good for this film to be considered good. Not a member of this cast let me down. I enjoyed what this young and energetic cast brought to the table. I focused on the dramatic aspect of the film, but it was the mixture of comedy and hope along with heartbreak and rejection that made this film perfect. I felt a whirlwind of emotions, I felt jolted when Tom and Summer felt pain. I felt sympathy for Tom. I felt like a friend needed my help. I felt like I understood Summers reasoning. That is why I loved this film. I loved it for its honesty, for the character driven plot. This film was moving, the mixed array of emotions from laughter to being on the verge of tears is what keeps you watching this film. I really want to see more films of this nature. |

After being elected President, Nelson Mandela wanted to find away to unite his nation. He was tried of all the back and forth hatred between the races. He needed a way to bring these people together and unite them through a universal cause and that is sports. With the Rugby World Cup approaching, Mandela looks to take a team that has been struggling and turn them into champions. 2009 has been an up and down year as far as films. Here is my chance to recap. You had comedy with a hint of drama in Funny People. There was mafia drama with Public Enemies and there was downright raunchy comedy with The Hangover. But when this preview aired over my television screen, I instantly fell in love with the story. There is nothing better than a real life story built around coming together. Mandela was an inspirational man, one we all could take lessons from. Mandela had no hatred, he just wanted to bring peace and unity, and he did everything he could to fulfil this goal. This film was different from all other films in 09 because it was realistically moving and courageous in its efforts. Easily one of the best films of 09 and one of the best films you can ever watch. When you catch a film like this, you hope that the message can inspire a new generation or keep the message alive. I was 4 years old at the time of these events, and I can honestly say after viewing this on screen Mandela has become another person who symbolized hope and freedom. I got interested in what it is Mandela stood for a few years ago when I took world history. I just liked his charisma and his winning attitude and all those radiated through Freeman. Freeman lived and breathed the performance, and you could hardly tell this was acting. I felt moved, awed and even inspired to make changes, to go out and accomplish something, because as Mandela and Pineaar proved to us, nothing is impossible if you want it bad enough. The sports parts were even intense, not drawn out or over dramatized, they packed a wallop and you could feel like you were a part of the game, you cheered and closed your eyes in dramatic scenes. You literally felt like you were sitting at Ellis Park Stadium hoping and cheering a nation that had finally come together. This film was one of those films you felt good after viewing, the experience made you whole, the film was intriguing, you could feel these characters coming together and you could feel the pride of a nation shifting from despair to hope. I respect this film and what it was, I enjoyed this film and what it gave me, and being 4 days before Christmas, I really felt hope and joy, and this film helped me get excited for Christmas. The positive message was one we can all embrace even if we don?t necessarily enjoy rugby. Enjoy it for Mandela and let his message live on. You can never have enough hope, and positivity so go and see this film and spread its joy. |

Two FBI agents show up in a small town where a team of serial killers has been running wild. They have three witnesses. A shy soft spoken 8 year old girl whose family has just been brutally murdered. A strung out on cocaine Junkie whose boyfriend has just been killed and a corrupt cop who during the shootout lost his partner. All three begin to spin a web full of confusing plots, mismatched timelines, death and violence. Nothing is what it seems to be, none of these people can fill in the missing piece of the puzzle which is who the killers are. A 97 minute movie turns out to feel like 197 minutes. The first 77 were boring, and skipped the point of the film,. and then they just loaded it all on in the final 20 minutes. But still when waiting so long to reveal so much so late it doesn?t usually make sense. I was watching this film hoping for something different, but it was all just silly interrogation with silly characters. It seemed like I hated this film which I did not, I just have mixed feelings about it. Ever since I saw it, I have been contemplating what to rate it, how to review, it was different, slow and boring with a twist at the end that wasn?t surprising if you have seen good films. I didn?t want to hate this film, but I don?t want to rate it with a 4 either. One of this films you want to be friendly harsh with because there was good elements in it. The cast was one of those elements. Pullman, Ormond and the rest of the cast did good jobs. At times Pullman seemed forced, annoyed, but he still managed to deal a performance that was worthy for a decent film like this. Still not the best acting I have ever seen. As for the twist it wasn?t so shocking with the hints that they gave you along the way. It was annoying that they were handing you hints on a massive silver platter and playing down the intelligence of the audience. Don?t play on the intelligence of the audience shock them beyond belief. This film couldn?t do that just like many films cannot. The ending was bizarre but not the kind of bizarre you could enjoy. It was a psycho sexual kind of ending, pleasure from pain, pain from pleasure kind of idea. It really weirded me out, not because it was good, because it sort of just happened and it was weird. Throughout the film there was a weird sense of sexual tension with the corrupt cops only to find out the FBI agents who were brought in to help were there for the exact same reason. They killed the entire police force the junkie but let the little girl roam free. Why is this? Didn?t make much sense. The scene where they killed the junkie was as messed up as movie scenes go, I know it shows what they have been doing the whole time, but it was pretty well the exact same thing the corrupt cops had been doing the whole time. This film fell off the beaten path early and managed to stray further and further from its goal, which is to shock and awe, it just ended being a weird sexual tension movie. Not what I was expecting at all. |

A father and son walk across a post apocalyptic wasteland in search for food shelter and hope. They only have each other, and must face the impending danger head on. Love is the strongest bond of all, it can sometimes be the only thing that will get you through. The Man: I told the boy when you dream about bad things happening, it means you're still fighting and you're still alive. It's when you start to dream about good things that you should start to worry. This was the one film in all of 2009 that I wanted to be good, and it was as perfect as I thought it would be. The film was exactly like the book with a few more wife flashbacks, but they made them work. They added more emotion to the story, and made you understand the pain of the man and his boy, they made you really feel like you could have been that man. The characters had no names, which to me is the beauty of what this film was, they didnt need names, it was the story, the emotions and how it could have been anyone that was enough to capture the audience. Mortensen was perfect, exactly the way I imagined the man caring for his boy, honest, sincere, the ultimate provider. I thought Viggo gave his best performance to date, and that is saying a lot considered the three brilliant performances he gave in each of the LOTR films. But this time around Viggo was emotionally attached to his peformance, he was working with another brilliant actor in Kodi Smit-McPhee (Who will get an oscar nom hopefully). Viggo became the man, it seemed like Kodi was his son, it didnt seem like a movie because you were taken away by both performances. You couldnt help but feel emotional during some of the scenes in the film. I would hope Viggo could get a nom as well, but I will settle for Kodi, I just thought the boy would be even harder to portray then the man. Kodi needed to be believable, he needed to have the right emotions and that is difficult for an actor at the age of 13, but he nailed it, he was acting right alongside Viggo, and they complemented each other perfectly. You see The Road may not be the action film of 2009 or as good as other films you may have seen, but really, if you want an emotional love story, between a father and his son this film is beautiful. The best film I have seen in a long time. Brilliance. |

Bella Swan: Dear Alice, I wish I had your real address. I wish I could tell you about Jake. He makes me feel better. I mean, he makes me feel alive. The hole in my chest... well, when I'm with Jake it's like it's almost healed for a while. But even Jake can't keep the dreams away After Edward leaves her because of a freak accident that nearly took her life, Bella isnt sure what life is anymore. She is lost without Edward, and she feels like locking herself in her room is what she needs to do. She then realized during a night out that an adrenaline rush is what can help her see a vision of Edward. Bella comes up with a plan in which she asks Jacob to help her build a dirt bike. Yes Bella uses Jacob just to get a vision of poor pale faced Edward Cullen who left her. Jacob then reveals that he cant be with Bella for fear that he will hurt her. It seems like everyman she choses could kill her at any moment. Finally Bella is able to see Jacob for what he truly is, a werewolf who kills vampires, but cannot kill the Cullens do to some treaty. Then Alice returns and tells Bella that Edward Cullen has gone to the Volturi and is going to reveal himself because he thinks that she died. Bella is keen on rushing to his side even against the warnings from Jacob that Edward wasnt there for her when she needed him. Ok, now to actually talk about the film. I can honestly say I didnt expect much, and anything that went right was a pleasant surprise. All though I will also state that not much went right with this film. Bella was moody, and Stewart was terrible, she had the same annoying expression the entire time Edward was gone. She did a terrible job of fliritng with Jacob, she would pull away, lure him in, scowl terribly and then smile, lean in for a liplock and scowl again. Terrible, I mean Kristen is a talented actor, she has shown the entire world that when she did Into the Wild, but I dont think Bella Swan is the role she should have taken. I dont think doing Twilight was the right career choice for any of these actors. Jacob Black: It's because of him, isn't it? Look, I know what he did to you. But Bella, I would never, ever do that. I won't ever hurt you. I promise. I won't let you down. You can count on me. When I read Twilight I liked the character of Jacob Black and I actually liked the way Lautner approached playing the character. He did an alright job with what he was given in Twilight. Then they talked about replacing him for New Moon because he wasnt buff enough. He gained almost 30 pounds of muscle and took on the challenge of having a bigger part in a film that many young girls were really excited to see. I dont want to say that Lautner is a good actor, because Im afraid Twilight wont be able to showcase his talent. I do believe that down the road, given the right role, given a few years to grow up he will be a good actor. You can see it in him. Jacob unlike Edward in the books and films originally comes of as sincere. Edward is constantly and relentlessly trying to push her away, but Jacob wants to be close to her, he wants her to rely on him, and as much as he thinks he should stay away he shows that he is human and that he cant. You see S. Meyer is trying to give us a realistic love between Edward and Bella but by making him push her away she ultimately shows the audience that Jacob is the better of the two male leads. As far as males perspective goes, you can almost feel sorry for Jacob because any male who tries to win the affection of a girl and is rejected as felt his pain. Some may say yeah he is Taylor Lautner, big buff 17 year old any girl would be happy to date Jacob, but clearly from watching this film you can see Jacob feels pain just like any average joe who walks the street. That is why Taylors performance was the most enjoyable in a film franchise that really needs to get better acting. Edward didnt play a major part in the film, he appeared mostly through flashbacks and that allowed Robert Pattinson sit back and take it easy. When Twilight was all said and done, everyone was in love with Pattinson but now that New Moon has come out, and Lautner was given his chance to shine, I really feel as though Pattinson cant act at all. I gave him credit after Twilight, but after New Moon he just seems to be a lazy actor. The CGI wolves were good, and many people knew they would be. With a bigger budget and fans really wanting to a see a good revealing of Jacob as a werewolf we knew they would put the effort into it. I just didnt think they would look as cool as they did. The wolves were huge, bigger then an average animal, and they didnt overdo the action, they only used it when they needed to. I was impressed to some degree with Lautner but as film and as series these films are just average. There is no reason people are talking about Eclipse becoming the best film ever at the box office. As I did enjoy Lautners performance his performance was nowhere near the performances featured in the box office weekend champ The Dark Knight. Lautner, will never match Bale or Ledger, and for fans of Twilight to expect there precious Eclipse to be considered good because it could win box office is an understatment. The Dark Knight is the best film of the decade and Twilight is nowhere near as awesome or thought provoking. Twilight will remain slightly above average, New Moon slightly better then Twilight, and perhaps Eclipse could be the same. but Breaking Dawn will bomb at the box office if they dont R rate it. They are going to cut the major scenes necessary for that film to be anywhere close to the book. You see Twilight fans, you might be impressed that Taylor and Rob get half naked but really is that what going to the cinema should be all about. I have heard girls state that they wont compare either Twilight or New Moon to there novel companions for fear of having to admit they are bad films or average films. I will give this film a 3/5 because of Lautner, and my liking for the character of Jacob Black, not because Lautner can take his shirt off, but because that doesnt make the acting good. You see fans, try and identify something with these characters other than the fact that the leading male actors are constantly walking in the rain half naked. A decent film, nothing more nothing less, take it face value and stop praising it for something it isnt. |

John Connor: I knew it. I knew it was coming. But this is not the future my mother warned me about. And in this future, I don't know if we can win this war. This is John Connor. Skynet has destroyed most of the planet with a nuclear holocaust, and one man believes he can change the course they are all doomed for. His name is John Connor and he believes that he is the key to the resistance.He must try and find Kyle Reese who in another reality will eventually become his father. With John trying to save Kyle and the prisoners at Skynight he must rely on the help of Marcus Wright, a half man half machine that John believes is there to kill him. I have been struggling with my thoughts on this film since I watched it. I didnt hate, however it didnt come off as that impressive to me either. Why some people might ask, so I will do things a bit differently since I have mixed feelings on this film. I will make a list of Pros and Cons. Pros Anton Yelchin- This young man gave the best performance in the entire film as Kyle Reese. He is a good young actor and has had his name attached to two different major franchises in the same year. That is a great accomplishment for a 20 year old. Anton should perhaps venture away from Action in the coming years therefore audiences can finally see what the kid can do as far as a dramatic non action film is concerned. I believe he will be one of the great young actors within the next 5 years. His talents rivals that of 23 year old mega star Shia Labeouf. Characterization- Yes the characters were developped. John Connor as a character was a lot better then I ever remember him being in the past. Connor always seeemed like that whiny child afriad to fend for himself, so the whole world protected him as best as they could. This time around he was a man played by Chris Bale (whos performance left more to be desired) but he was fighting for the resistance not sitting back while the resistance and everyone who is still alive were fighting for him. Helena Bonham Carter- Yes she has the smallest part in the film, but she is awesome again. She nevers faisl to impress, all though I was surprised that she is doing a major film franchise it doesnt surprise me that she nailed the performance spot on. Her little part in the film was the second best performance falling right in behind Anton Yelchin. Bonham Carter is a seriously twisted actress and she has a flare for the dark and mysterious. Another great performance Cons- Arnie- Yes I missed Arnie in this film. It just didnt feel the same without him. He was the face of the franchise and to simply just plaster his young face on the body of a Terminator was a disgrace if you want my opinion. Either he agrees to cameo or you leave him out of the film entirely. Christian Bale- He used his Batman voice, the raspy disguise of a voice he uses when Bruce Wayne doesnt want people to know he is Batman. I guess you let the cat out of the bag Mr. Bale, Bruce Wayne is Batman and it appears to me like you have made a statement by taking on another major film franchise. Im starting to wonder if Chris Nolan comes a knocking, are you even going to care about the Franchise that really made you known to almost all of America. Now I read it depends on the script whether or not you return for another Terminator. Yet you have made no claim to return to Batman, and I am sure Nolan can deliver you a third amazing script. Mr. Bale Batman will give you the quality, where I am sad to say the Terminator Franchise is slowly on the decline, go with Batman. Action- The action was a bit predicatable, you knew Connor wasnt going to die, you knew Marcus Wright was good, you knew Kyle Reese wasnt going to die in some tragic accident at Sky Net. Unlike Star Trek you just couldnt get into these characters amidst the action, they seemed to stone faced, especially Mr. Bale. He was just shooting and killing and shooting and killing and never did he ever show any facial expressions of concern. Oh and his "WE ARE ALL DEAD!" was such a painful line because Bale was way to over dramatic, sorry Bale you are a good actor, but action and acting didnt seem to come natural to you this time around. There are three pros and three cons I am sure have already been discussed before. And like I said before, I just couldnt find myself getting into another film with the Terminator name plastered all over it. I found the attempts to pay homage to the classics were forced and other wise could have been left out. Star Trek on the other hand payed homage to the classic by making a brand new film that restarted the series. I read a bunch of articles that this Terminator is a prequel or somehow plays into the other three, which really made no sense to me at all. They should have restarted, it is one thing fans will always somewhat respect you for. Even if you fail miserably, someone will be there telling you you atleast tried. Yes an entire review without mentioning the director McG or the whole Bale meltdown on set. Seriously call it quits guys, you are just carrying on the Termintor name because you can. |

As the building of the ship draws to a close, the ship needs a crew. Captain Pike approaches James Kirk the son of the captain of the Kelvin, who spent 12 minutes as captain and saved the lives of over 800 people. Kirk reluctantly takes the job but doesnt make the maiden voyage of the USS Enterprise an easy journey for anyone involved. James T. Kirk: [upon taking command of the Enterprise] Attention crew of the Enterprise, this is James Kirk. Mr. Spock has resigned commission and advanced me to acting captain. I know you are all expecting to regroup with the fleet, but I'm ordering a pursuit course of the enemy ship to Earth. I want all departments at battle stations and ready in ten minutes. Either we're going down... or they are. Kirk out. I have to admit I wasnt a fan of Star Trek growing up. My sci fir knowledge was limited to Star Wars, much for me was always way better then Star Trek. I know there are many people who would debate this with me, I am not saying Star Wars is better, I just preferred it to Star Trek.Then last year I read an article claiming that acclaimed producer JJ. Abrams was set to reboot the Star Trek series I was oddly interested. Not to the point of fan boy status, but everyone was curious about what JJ would bring to the table. And yes many people werent expecting much. Then the trailer was released, it caught my attention, but I happened to miss the film in cinemas, which I have read was an experience and half to have seen. With each and every time the trailer ran I found myself thinking it could be a decent movie. Then I realized this was my chance to finally realize what Star Trek was all about. I rented this film upon the DVD release. I was amazed at the action and the visuals that JJ incorporated in this Star Trek film. His reboot has given hope to many more sequels as long as they are quality films. And as a new fan of Star Trek I will admit that this film was better then last of the Star Wars films. Yes the scenes were a bit predictable. Yes the action was a bit over the top, but the mere fact that JJ Abrams had the guts to reboot such a legendary series was enough to earn my respect. This film has been earning rave reviews, and it is all worth it. I agree that this film is probably the best action flick of 2009, and I will bet money that there will be a sequel. But quote me on this, if Abrams does not direct the sequel I will not watch it, not even on DVD release. But however if Abrams takes on the challenge of a sequel I will be in line at the cinemas however long the line might be. Star Trek had a really able young cast. Lead by Chris Pine and Zach Quinto you could easily relive the origins of the characters they were playing. Both played there characters well. Pine the outspoken Kirk and Quinto the soft spoken emotionally charged Spock. And yes I did know who Leonard Nimoy was, despite not being a major fan of Star Trek before. Nimoy who looked older now was still willing to return to the series that offered him superstardom. Trekkies rejoice, there will be more Star Trek to come, and it is a fresh take on what is one of the most talked about series to ever be on Television. Awesome job JJ Abrams |

Yet still he doesnt seem to find the big break that he needs, until one night he meets Lyn Cassidy a former army officer Cassidy is revealed to have been a part of a secret operations division of the army. They were a special group of super soldiers said to have psychic powers. They call themselves The New Earth Army and the soldiers are known as "Jedi Warriors" After Bob and Lyn find themselves kidnapped Bob has no other choice but to rely on Lyn Cassidy;s so called super powers. Lead by Ewan McGregor and George Clooney this film is brilliant from start to finish. The humour is dry humour and you need to catch it. Most of the humour is a play on word type situation. All though the biggest joke of all is Bob Wilton not knowing what a Jedi Warrior is. Many people may end up overlooking this joke, but it is funny because Ewan McGregor played the most famous Jedi of all time in the three newest Star Wars Films. All though this may not be the funniest joke in the film it may be the easiest to pick up on if you are a fan of films. Im not recommending this film based on a liking of Star Wars. Just pointing that out, this film is nothing like Star Wars, and to me is a lot better then the final Star Wars film. As far as the deliverance of performances, the back handed with, the cultural references and just the humour it presented. Clooney and McGregor are oddly flawless and Ewan has really managed to reah new heights in his career. Star Wars Episode 1 was what made him a household name, there is not disputing that. Episodes 2 and 3 just reinforced the fact that Ewan was here to stay. To me it has been his post Star Wars choices that have really given Ewan the potential to shine. Deception with Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams was a good choice, Angels and Demons is what I will consider the best performance of his career to this point, until this film that is. Ewan was brilliant, playing a simple man with a passion for a story, so much so that he was willing to believe in what many people would consider to be impossible. As much as I just rambled about Ewan McGregor I just cant end this review without giving shoutouts Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. Without these two performances there would be no Men who Stare at Goats. Bridges who played Bill Django a free spirited hippy looking to make a difference gave one of the best performances I have ever seen. Spacey whos best performance will forever be John Doe in Seven played the evil mastermind, and it was good to see him do a comedy. This film was as much a surprise as Burn After Reading from the Coens. Yes it was expected to be funny, but no one expected to see two comedies that played on cultural issues. Yes there is not so surprising surpise twist near the end, but you just cant help but laugh your ass off it at anyway. All in all one of the best films of 09, perhaps a nom for best picture is in the works? |

Peter Kalven has recently gotten engaged and realized that he does not have a best male friend. He doesnt have that one person that he can ask to be his best man. So he sets out to meet people and find the one person that he can connect with. He happens to meet this one person at an open House. His name is Sydney Fife, and they instantly become friends. But will Peters friendship be challenging for his marriage? Peter must find a way to balance spending time with his fiance Zooey and bonding with Sydney. I had high expectations for this film, I really did. Jason Segel is one of my favourite comedians to surface in recent years. He is great on TV's How i Met Your Mother as Marshall Erikson. His performance in this film was great, but for some reason it always seemed like he was trying just a little too hard. Playing Marshall looks easy for him, but playing Sydney Fife did not. I thought with the script that was written there was no way Jason wouldnt feel at ease with the part, but I guess I was wrong. Maybe he was nervous or there is a explanation for it. I hope that this guy can become a major comedy, I think he is a great actor, I just hope that it becomes a little easier and less forced. As far as jokes and comedy go this film was dirty. There are many sexual references from start to finish. Sydney contiously asks Pete about his sex life. So if you arent a fan of continous and somewhat disgusting sexual jokes then this film is an automatic no for you. I thought at some points they were alittle bit much, but I have seen raunchy films before, so you can easily deal with it. The film had a few SNL references and a cameo by the band Rush, because Syd and Pete were obessed with that band. I thought Lou Ferrigno was a good addition to the cast, playing himself in a new light. I was aggravated at the performance of Jon Favreau. His character was a real asshole and it almost ruined the film. He talked down to his wife and it was really not funny. The two characters could have easily been toned down a bit, because honestly the took away from the entire plot. They seemed to nag each other just for the sake of it. I thought the way the spook to each other wasnt a good way of presenting the humour that this film was trying to get across. Seriously two pointless characters almost ruin the light hearted vision that this film carried. It was annoying to see writers try so desperately to try and fill characters in just for the sake of completing a so called picture.yes we all know people like this, but to see it in a light hearted comedy was just stupid. All in all a good film with many sexual references. Paul Rudd and Jason Segel did good with what the had. Not an excellent film but good for a Friday Night when you have just completed a long work week/ |

Columbus: It's amazing how fast the world can go from bad to total shit storm. After a man eats a burger at a fastfood restauarant he becomes a mad flesh eating zombie and soon after that the whole world has been infected and those who arent will do anything to survive. Columbus (Eisenberg) has his set of rules that will keep hm alive. Then he meets Tallahassee who is a badass and loves to make a game out killing zombies. Columbus and Tallahassee go around looking for Twinkies because that is the one thing Tallahassee wants most. Then they meet a sister pair Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) who steal there guns and vehicle. After they chase them down and become friends the 4 of them go on a journey which includes Billy Murray and an amusement park. I went into this with low expectations seriously . I thought this film would be trying to hard to be something it wasnt. I was wrong. For once I was glad to have been wrong. This film was entertaining, hardcore with some good gore and some great liners. The acting was as good as one can expect from a comedy about zombies. Without the Harrelsons wit and Comedy this film would have probably been nothing. All though I was also pleased with Eisenbergs awkward portrayal of a nerd caught up in a mess. Emma Stone was great as well, playing the mysterious good looking girl named Wichita.I like Emma Stone, she is a good young actress who has a great personality in every day life. Superbad was a good film for her to debut in. And of Course future oscar winner Abigail Breslin was just the fiesty little kid. I could easily feel like I could have hung out with these guys and I found myself easily understanding Columbus and his shyness with girls. Each and every character has a trait that you can relate too. I found this film was way better then what it shows itself to be in the trailers. It has its funny moments as well as the darker moments. A solid film that I can honestly say I am glad I took a chance on. |

Clyde Shelton is out for revenge 10 years after the death of his family. He waited 10 long years to seek any sort of revenge because he planned it all out in his mind. It is up to Nick Rice and all the other government officals that were involved in the Shelton case to figure out why wait 10 years to exact revenge. And Yet still miraculously with a plot like that this movie has many flaws. For once I would like to see a nerd wage war against the goverment. Why does the brianiacs always have to look like Gereard Butler, Rough and Tough and muscular. Why did Gerard Bulter have to strip naked in his arrest scene? Lilttle thins like that make me appreciate a film where the story manages to take Precedence. I am simply saying a film does not need to have their main male or female lead strip down to get a little reaction out of the crowd. Also does every person who thinks he/she has outsmarted the government need to be an asshole on some level? Do they need to feel like they are in control.? From inside prison you would never be able to make the demands that Clyde made, also at some points to me it seemed like the wit and the humour Clyde had while making a mockery of the government was the main focus of the story. I know they were trying to prove the incompetence of the people involved, but government officials will win out in the long run thats just how it is. As far as the major twist it was illogical, simply stated there is no way it would have happened. I wont devulge information, but after you think more about it in the comfort of your own home you will end up realizing how insane it really is. And yet somehow films like these still draw attention and Butler still gets recognized as a fantastic actor. Simply stated Gerard Bulter is a brute force type actor/ He will thrill kill and survive any explosion but when he comes to acting it all goes right over his head. Sorry Mr. Butler but you have yet to prove to me that you are a solid hollywood dramatic actor. Show me a resume like Mr. Foxx and maybe I will take you seriously until then Jury Officially adjourned. |
