I only say it's bad because I know I wouldn't like it if I saw it. Sites like Rotten Tomatoes is a lot like Flixster in that it's impossible for a movie to really go below 50% or 2.5 stars. I mean, look over Flixster, it's almost impossible, even for a bad movie to go below 3/5 stars (60%) and thus I have never taken those at worth, there's always a bunch of people that give perfect scores, and the people who don't like them rarely ever give below 2 1/2 stars, and thus the average is around the 3/5 stars or 60% ranges, so in all honesty, 60% is completely horrible as an overall rating of a movie online.
I should however clean up the term "bad CGI", even those who enjoyed the first one complained that CGI elements ruined the film. It isn't even just poor CGI (which it is still a fact) however, the attention of the story to focus so much on CGI that it actually hinders the movie as a whole. CGI is usually used as a full element of the film, and addition during fast or hard action scenes or as a compliment to parts that could not be done, even with a stuntman. Jar Jar Binks is a perfect example of too much CGI forcement onto a story. It just completely took away from the film as a whole, which is really what the complaint about the Hulk movies is. Does the CGI in the new one "look great", yes, does it probably take away from the story, well, we'll have to see. Based on the history and the type of story The Hulk is, it is a strong possibility. I will probably still eventually see it, however, I will be quite skeptical based on the mulititude of complementary problems with the film, actors and other parts of the film.
However, I thank you for your opinion.posted 556 days ago -
I recommend you see...Yet another un-recommendation. Not saying don't see it, but giving you ample heads up of what will be lame, and why I will not see the film voluntarily.
The Incredible Hulk
by DI just thought I would give my ideas and reasoning for continuing to not be interested in this film. It's coming out soon and Flixster is plastering the site with advertisements all for the all-mighty dollar.
I'll be honest, when I heard Edward Norton was in it, I was definitely interested. Of course the first one sucked (not that I even saw it) and naturally assumed this would too. I watched the previews, and every time I see Edward on screen, I think to myself that I HAVE to see it. However, the previews pretty much give away the whole story, secondly the CGI is still lame and finally I saw that Liv Tyler was in the movie, which was pretty much the nail that killed the dead horse on this one.
Nothing good has ever come from the no talent ass clown Liv. All be it, she is the daughter of a famous singer, however, unfortunately putting "My daddy makes music" shouldn't be a qualification that allows someone to just start acting in films. Since she continues to blow, I still don't understand how she finds work.
I unfortunately came to the conclusion that I did not want to see a totally crappy movie just to see Edward do great work on Bruce Banner to have the horrible CGI and ultimate sucking of Liv Tyler ruin the whole experience for me.
I may rent, I may get conned into seeing it when friends want to put it in, and I WILL enjoy the Norton, however, I will NOT give the money grubbing jerks my money. I suggest that you take this into account when you choose what movie to put your greenback on.

I recommend you see...A recommendation, with a warning!
You Don't Mess with the Zohan
by DThis movie exceeded my expectations. For me it did what Mike Meyers did for British comedy with Austin Powers, and what Jack Black did with Mexican culture in Nacho Libre. However, I warn all those who see it that if you are not versed in Judaism, Israel or any combination of the two, than you may be at a disadvantage for many of the joke references. I am neither, but living in a big city like Toronto and being surrounded by a few people of the faith I get most of the references. If you do, you'll enjoy this movie a lot more, however, devoid of most of the jokes or references, the movie will become dangerously un-funny, and could be a flop to watch. My only other complaint is the over-the-top fixation on sex, penis and other random additions of old-lady fucking. Although I looked passed it easily, I can see a lot of people just wanting to walk out, it can be a little too much.
Hilarious and innovative, past my expectations, but a warning for those who won't be able to take in the full aspect of the humor base.posted 558 days ago -
I recommend you see...Just a friendly suggestion and informative summary of why X-Files might be a movie to see this year.
The X-Files: I Want to Believe (The X Files 2)
by DFirst off, it really grinds my gears when morons give movies star ratings for movies that haven't been released yet (in this case 8-weeks). These people are retarded, they rate based on their own personal hype which goes against everything rating movies stands for. I pity the fools who have to change their 5 stars to 2 ½ for movies like Spiderman 3, or even worse, don't change it because they're too dumb or lazy to do so.
However, on to the film to be...
I remember reminiscing about how it was a horrible idea to make another X-Files movie... why you ask? Well, the first movie came too long after the series was over anyway (and even much longer after Duchovny left, which to me, was the end of X-Files), secondly, the fan base although powerful, was strenuously limited due to the sci-fi nature and the continued linear and deepening storyline later in the series.
I am a huge personal fan of the series, but when the first film was released, I had almost forgotten all of the details surrounding the "alien conspiracy", and an attempt to add or modify this story in any way at this point, is ridiculous. However, this is a stand-alone film, which gives me hope that it can reach and intrigue a new set of onlookers, however I predict moderate-dismal numbers based on the fact that only die-hard fans will see it, and very few otherwise will take the leap into watching something they A) were never interested in or B) assume, quite understandingly, that they will be as lost as they were when they saw the first, or would have been had they seen it.
If you find yourself at the movies with no plan to see a big hit, or wondering what is the least-worst movie out at the time, I suggest giving this a try. Although it is not out, and nobody would be able to tell you if it is going to be good or bad, the Mulder/Scully combination is very synergistic and suspenseful. I will see it because I am a fan and I think that aside from fan base it has true potential.posted 563 days ago -
I recommend you see...DO NOT SEE THIS. If anything, save half your money and rent it, then, hate it with a few more dollars in your wallet and the ability to just hit 'stop' on the DVD player.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
by DFell way below expectations.
For some reason this movie is getting rated much higher than it should. Yes, I'm a big fan of the original 3, however, I was not expecting perfection from this one, and yet, I was still disappointed.
I'm not really spoiling anything by letting you know any of this, as you find it out in the first 15 minutes, but the plot is absolutely rediculous. Anyone who is able to stay in their seat until the end knows what I'm talking about, absolutely frikkin' rediculous. At the point that Shia was swinging off the vines like Tarzan and had random jungle monkeys assisting him in combat against the Russians I had lost the last speck of hope that remained in me for this movie.
The movie was a total waste, and personally, I am very very disappointed in Harrison. He had turned down some versions and was really on board for this version and I can't believe he read to the end of the script and didn't laugh out loud. I have never seen a worse sequal to a series over an extended hiatus that had screwed up such a film that had such promise.
Shame on you Mr. Ford... shame on you. You don't know how much it hurt me to have to write such slandor against a man that made a dynasty of trilogies.

I recommend you see...Hey! Does my review make you want to or not want to see this one? :D
The Wendell Baker Story
by ~Lissa~The Wendell Baker Story...when you first see Wendell Baker smile it makes you smile too and feel happy. So who cares that he doesn't have a real job and doesn't know how to tell the hot Eva Mendes that he loves her, he still has the charisma to get people to like him. Speaking of Eva Mendes, she had no role in this movie besides pouting and being pretty, is this why I haven't seen her win any awards? Ouch! I don't know why I'm being so mean to her but c'mon really?!
Anyways, the first half of this movie kinda dragged and Luke Wilson's looks alone couldn't carry it.
I'm sorry I like Owen Wilson in other movies he's done but in this one I'm like if I've gotta see his broken ass nose and wonder why he gets acting jobs I'm gonna kill myself!
Overall though, it was a good movie, it worked out nicely and I enjoyed the ending.
If you trust Th!NKFilm, you should watch this one.posted 573 days ago -
I recommend you see...This is a recommendation to RENT, and NOT SEE IN THEATER'S, although its theatrical release is limited now. I cannot give a movie a great score or review when the main actors are boring, and the movie itself is held afloat by supporting actors and cameo's. Don't kid yourself, it's worth seeing, just don't pay money for it as 3 of those 3.5 stars goes to the REAL comedians, that are not main characters.
Thank you, enjoy!
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
by DFirst: Don't believe the hype. Second: This movie is all about the supporting actors.
No offense, but Segel, Bell and Kunis are not very good. They're not the best actors and they're not really all that funny. However, Brand, Hader, Hill and Rudd are hilarious. If you see the movie, plan on sitting through some of the main actor dribble and waiting for the hilarious punch lines, timing and expertise of the real comedians. I've been telling everyone all along that this movie will not be that good, and it isn't, but it is worth seeing to laugh your face off every time some non-main actor comes into the picture. I hope movies don't truly capitalize on the rap world strategy of throwing tons of useless characters in a movie, and splashing some real talent just to sell tickets and save money, however, it's a trend I think we should get used to.
I was not fooled by the trailer and I called it way before it was even out that the only good comedy would come from cameo's, and voila, I was right... I remain unsurprised in this fact.posted 576 days ago -
I recommend you see...C'mon people! Lets boost up that Flixster rating! =)
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
by ~Lissa~After seeing this movie I too am shocked to see that the overall Flixster rating is only 2 1/2 stars! WTF kind of people are on this site rating movies?!
This movie was hilarious! Within the first 10 minutes me and the audience were cracking up when he took off the towel. Loved the sound effects!
I like movies like this that are funny and you can relate to them, that is if you are an old fart like me.
Poor Peter Bretter gets his heart stomped on by Sarah Marshall and taking his stepbrother's advice, he takes a trip to Hawaii. Unfortunately she has already checked in with her new rocker boyfriend Aldous Snow. Things aren't all bad as he soon finds out when the cute front desk attendant takes a liking to him.
The storyline was great as the movie moved along nicely, the jokes kept coming, and you learn some new sex positions.
If you had a good time watching any of the other movies, you will definitely enjoy this one! Hurry and see it while it's still in the theaters!posted 578 days ago -
I recommend you see...This is an un-recommendation. It's what I do best.
Speed Racer
by DA shameful production that could've been something original, dark and funny. Nothing comes off worse in a movie than attempting to hit two opposite demographics at once. Goodman, Ricci and Hirsch were all good calls. Ricci is really a missed gem in the acting world and Goodman is always a good father figure.
The action is fast, I guess (define fast really), however it's done in the worst possible way. It's all CGI, which I suppose is necessary but it is way over the top in a bad way. Unfortunately they try to make the heart of the story itself serious and interesting, but all is lost in the horrible comical aspects, the example of a monkey throwing feces comes to mind (honestly, who watches this?).
When a movie juxtaposes seriousness and well placed interest with monkey poop throwing humour and just horrible machoism-cgi-bullcrap racing scenes, well, it doesn't make the film any easier to watch for either film goer. The only way this movie receives more than 3/5 stars is for fanboys/girls because it honestly is not that great, also, they claim the bad reviews are for those who have never seen the series. First of all, I have seen the original series, and many more classic cartoons and well comprised anime then almost any of them, secondly, the original wasn't all that great to begin with and it is still no excuse to create a movie that cannot entertain the average movie-goer.
In any case, the film cost 100 million to make (3 times the average movie production rate) and is currently flopping at the box office, for good reason. I must say however, that there are brief glimpses where the movie showed some class and ingenuity that made me feel that in the right hands, this movie could've been done much better. As a children's movie, which it is, it's not too bad, however, I believe that if it were given a real adult spin it could've been quite interesting indeed. Unfortunately it was not, and thus, quite lame.posted 581 days ago -

Horton Hears a Who!
by ~Lissa~"After all, a person is a person no matter how small"
This was a funny good movie to see on a Saturday afternoon in a theater packed with kids. I was a little worried seeing it at this time since I thought the kiddies would be talking through the whole movie but imagine my surprise when at one point, the whole theater was silent as Horton was searching for the dandelion. He kept calling for the mayor and after he sadly called mayor one last time, it was hilarious when a kid in the theater cried out "Mayor!".
I think this was classic Jim Carrey and I loved him as Horton. He was so funny and did a great job being a jokester but also showing how important it was for him to keep his word.
I liked Steve Carell as the Mayor but it really just sounded like Michael from The Office, but in a Who costume.
Carol Burnett as Kangaroo was perfect and she complemented both Jim and Steve well. Or maybe they complemented her well.
Overall it was a fun movie to watch and had heart. I will definitely buy this one when it is released!

Come see this movie with me...Hey, you should really see this!
Into the Wild
by OliverThis movie has stunning cinematography of Nevadan and Alaskan landscapes, scrutinizes modern materialism, endorses free-thinking nomadism and the loneliness that creeps up upon a sensitive mind that takes nothing in the world for granted but the desire to achieve something lofty, and majisterial from the perspective of self sufficiency and survival. This movie is elegant and informed with literary overtones from Jack Kerouak to Leo Tolstoy. Sean Penn is overlooked again as a heavyweight contender at the Academy Awards, but it is clear that their electoral committee is stubbornly blind to anything uncoated with the glitzy Hollywood packaging, especially when exudes an atmosphere of documentary.

Johnny Dangerously
by ~Lissa~This is a fun movie to watch. I think Michael Keaton was the best pick to be Johnny Dangerously. He has that cocky way about him and the way he looks at the camera and says hey kids, perfect!
I first saw this movie years ago when I was too young to know it was a spoof on gangster movies. Imagine my surprise when I saw The Godfather years later and realized mobsters weren't as goofy as Joe Piscopo in this one.
The movie starts out like a lot of mobster movies with Johnny Kelly as a young boy trying to do right by his family but he is drawn into the gangster life when he sees it's the way to get his mom her pancreas back.
I really liked Marilu Henner in this but it was Maureen Stapleton that steals the show.

No Country for Old Men
by ~Lissa~Okay I had to watch this movie after it won the Oscar. It was a good but I don't think it was OMG good.
I thought the pace moved along nicely and wasn't too slow, maybe only when Tommy Lee Jones was talking at the end. Which I didn't like how it ended.
I think the problem I had with it was that it was predictable. You could kind of figure out what was going to happen. Although I didn't guess what would happen with his wife.
Javier Bardem definitely deserved his Oscar for this one! What a maniac he was! The only other movie I've seen him in is The Sea Inside, which he was excellent in as well.
I also don't know why people call this a western since it mostly took place in hotels.
It takes a real man to be able to stitch up your own wounds! That was pretty crazy! If I saw him walking down the street all bloody I would just take off my shirt and run!
This is definitely a movie worth checking out. Has enough action and violence to keep you entertained. It will leave you guessing what did the title mean. Or maybe that is just me. Check it out!posted 658 days ago -

Gone Baby Gone
by ~Lissa~Finally got to see this movie and I'm so glad I did! Excellent directing by Ben Affleck and great storyline. The whole movie just moved along nicely and kept you interested in what was happening and wondering what happened to the little girl.
Amy Ryan did a great job and it is too bad that she didn't win the Oscar.
Morgan Freeman was good as always and he felt right for this role, being the Captain and the desperate father that lost his own child.
Kudos to Casey Affleck for leading this movie. He showed no fear in going about finding the little girl, even when his own life was placed in danger. I really liked how he didn't care what anyone said to him, he did what he had to do and what he felt was right.
What he ended up doing is up to the movie goer to determine whether they agree with him or not.
This is the type of movie I've been wanting to watch for a long time!
If you haven't seen this movie yet, you don't know what you are missing!!posted 659 days ago -
I recommend you see...This is a warning and a wake-up call to anyone. For God's sake, don't give these people your money. Make a stand, say something, let it be known you won't take this kind of no-story lame movies that can be thrown together in 10 minutes on the back of a napkin' during a reminisce with others at a cocktail party.
The Other Boleyn Girl
by DWho would watch a movie with these two women actors, dressed in Elizabethian clothing that excentuate the breasts but NOT have an 'R' rating? The movie looks dumb, it is dumb, it's advertised as a soft core porn. The only people who want to see it are the retards who will watch a movie just because Natalie Portman is in it regardless of its suck factor, guys who just want to see if the lead role can trick the girls into a threesome (still no nudity) and the other miscellaneous idiots who never read the synopsis and are just following one of the other two mentioned above. I can't even begin to tell you the kind of retards who watch this stuff.
If someone wanted a census from me of a list of people in my area of low or no intelligence, and I had a limited amount of time to produce this list, I would just sit outside the entrance to "The Other Boleyn Girl" and start adding people to the list as they walked in, all day, every day. BAM! Instant accurate idiot list!
I think the poignant and extremely short 'plot' description of this movie infinitely describes how pointless anything else in the movie is, so much so that the movie can be synopsized in 10 words.posted 660 days ago -

The Spiderwick Chronicles
by DWow, someone was smart enough to combine Jumanji and Road to Terabathia... give the man a fucking cookie.
Would you like to know how to identify a hollywood dud? Here it is, combining two movies that absolutely cannot be improved upon, sticking the two story's together with shoddy glue, shitty actors and lame advertisements. There, that's the magic fucking formula... why do people keep seeing this trash? It makes me worry about the state of our world, it really does. These idiots are walking our streets, driving cars and for the love of God, THEY'RE DOING YOUR TAXES!!!posted 660 days ago -
I recommend you see...A movie that is seemingly getting a bad rap. Let me set the record straight.
Jumper
by DI've seen this movie take a lot of "rating hits" and "bad press". Now, I hate Hayden Christensen as much as the next die hard Star Wars fan, but let's just try to keep that bitterness locked up in a room deep inside us.
To be honest, I found the movie to move very quickly in the beginning, but for an audience that is used to the blah blah I have a power blah blah my family hates me routine we should find it a welcome change. The movie did speed up and slow down frequently, but for the first time I have ever witnessed, it did it on purpose and in the right places. The love attraction is lame but the special effects and story originality give it bonus points.
Overall I found it to be an engaging story that didn't get dull. There were so many questions left un-answered in this first installment that you can guarantee a sequel. Unlike many other movies we didn't get a technical jabber answer to what his power actually is or what the real deal is with the Paladin's.
Went in thinking it was going to be lame and was pleasantly surprised. I am looking forward to a sequel and Hayden has open the possible door to my forgiveness (Sammy L. still kicks ass) and Jamie Bell is an actor I will be looking for specifically in the future to give a similar supporting role. I sense much talent in him.
My official rating is 7.7/10 and if you're looking for a movie you haven't seen at the theater, and you can't decide, I suggest you give this a once over.
Enjoy!posted 660 days ago -
I recommend you see...If you want to see it or not, I decided I would give you the straight dope on a recently released film.
Hope it helps you in your decision, either positive or negative.
Be Kind Rewind
by DDon't let other reviews steer you wrong. Jack Black is his same old nutty-hilarity in this movie. However I am beginning to find his humor to be losing its flavor and I think it shows in this film.
Although I think he is hilarious and this movie is indeed original and funny, there are times where Jack has the same stupor like smile on that he always does and it feels like a plastic visage he seems to always have to just fill dead video time.
The plot of the movie is original, and it has the same pull together for the community feel that Jack seems to choose as a central theme, which is a good thing. It's hard to find movies that are funny, original and really about a sense of community and nobody I know can pull it off like Mr. Black.
On the downside the movie has serious contiguity errors (especially when the government gets involved) and although it's picked up again, the end of the movie leaves you feeling un-fullfilled. This lack of fullfillment is not necessarily good or bad, but with the lost continuity it really should have had a "real" ending, which it did not have.
Finally, the parts where Jack and Def get to strut their stuff in the re-making of VHS videos is very entertaining, and I feel I could just watch an hour and a half of that any day. Alas, it is not so.
A fun movie, well kept in its time frame. Some errors, but the humor for the most part outclasses it. I would recommend seeing it in a group on a day where you just feel like taking in a movie. I wouldn't see it alone or when I wasn't in the mood to take some humor.
I didn't want my money back from this film and felt I got my money's worth (although ticket prices are starting to make that harder and harder these days). However, as an experience I felt I could've gotten a better one out of this film. I feel like some parts in the movie were just lazily attended too, and it is a silly menial error that generates such a loss in the enjoyment of the film.posted 662 days ago
