Twilight
PG-13
This tween-favored action-romance seems to be making a permanent impact on the younger generation with Meyer's re-imagining of vampires. I can see how this film (series) is entertaining, since the adult actors are so convincing as 17-year-olds in high school.
The couple Edward & Bella (Pattinson & Stewart) seem to have been aptly cast. Most of the cast is young, well-dressed, and fit. I like Facinelli's roles in other films so I maintained an interest in his fatherly character.
I may not buy into the TeenBop/TigerBeat image that 'Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse' fans are projecting, but I can see how this film has roped a large audience. It has a tv-movie quality in several scenes (eg Ed & Bella running through the woods, Bella's flashback scenes) but doesn't lack anything relevant.
Yes Man
PG-13
While looking for laughs, I found that this film wasn't bad at all. I tend to get annoyed with Carrey's odd flamboyance, but Zooey Deschanel and a few other supporting actors kept it entertaining enough to make a decent comedy.
I don't enjoy Carrey's movies often, but this film reminds me of 'Liar Liar' (sans ex-wife & son in custody-battle). Many of the other actors are memorable enough to keep the laughs rolling. John Higgins is absolutely hilarious during the seminar scene (shouting "YES!"), while Terence Stamp blasts Carrey with evangelical hypnosis. Masterson has some on-screen presence with a handle-bar moustache and few lines, Cooper is believable as a best-friend type. Zooey Deschanel's singing and acting talent is definitely sexy. I bet she knows it too.
Some scenes were unsettling, but I won't comment (or spoil) it for you. Sometimes my taste in films is mostly relative to others' I'd seen, and 'Yes Man' happens to be slightly unpredictable. It isn't a masterpiece, but it's not for kids (disgusting granny scene).

The Dark Knight
PG-13
Nothing is lacking in this excellently dark blockbuster - action, script, cinematography, storyline or marketing. What is considered the most-hyped film of '08 is justly the best, in my opinion. I viewed this film in an IMAX theatre, as it was intended to be seen. There were more than enough spectacular moments to retain my full attention, given how brilliant director Nolan's vision always is. The emergence of Joker (Ledger), Two-Face (Eckhart) and a brief cameo from Scarecrow (Murphy) all assemble a comic-fan's dream. Batman is excellently portrayed once again (Bale), while his friends of authority, Commissioner Gordon (Oldman), Asst DA Dawes (Gyllenhal) and DA Dent (Eckhart) are violently stirred into the Joker's plot. The finality of sudden events is exactly what the Batman franchise needs - unlike Tim Burton's comedic flops. The late Ledger's performance is shocking, mostly because you'll never recognize his transformation. If you appreciate dark films, you will love the 'Dark Knight'. This is the 'Empire Strikes Back' (Star Wars) of the Batman series. Nolan still has 1 more Batman film to helm - which I eagerly await.

This movie is awesome. Some are dissappointed, but those people deserve Disney. Brad Pitt fires his gun, tilted horizontally and pointed downwards, like a cheesy thug poser. Director David Fincher is incredible. If you like this one, watch 'The Game'.
