I LOVE meeting new people - don't be shy, come talk to me! Wanna know more about me? Just ask, or read on...What can I say? I live in Texas and I love it here! I also love to travel, see new places and especially meet new people. One of my passions is good movies - that's why I'm here! My favorite movies are comedies and suspense. I also dig movies that were made from comics, if they're done right!

Come see this movie with me...
Wanted
by СтивBeing an owner of Night Watch and Day Watch, I was expecting the audaciousness of content and storytelling, and it certainly didn't disappoint in that. Silly, violent fluff taken at face value.
That said, I had the reaction to the film I think I was supposed to have while watching Funny Games recently. There was, for me, a distinct lack of morality at play here, not just by the characters but by the film itself. Normally in blockblustery type films, and even in the most hardcore violent or horror films, there is an understanding between filmmaker and audience of what morality is, of what right and wrong are, despite what may be going on on-screen. In Wanted, "innocent" pedestrians are killed amidst the battles without any acknowledgment from the characters or the filmmakers. There is no empathy, no sympathy for the average person caught up and destroyed amidst the carnage. Without some acknowledgment that this is in some way tragic, I found myself wondering where we are as a culture that we pay eight bucks to go see the slaughter of innocents for entertainment, but devoid of any empathy. It's the kind of thing I've seen in more obscure foreign or independent films, but never mass produced for Joe Q. Public like this before. And the public seems to be embracing it for the most part. I really think you could write a paper on what this film represents to our culture at this socio-political moment in time.
There's one particular scene this struck me in, but I don't want to discuss it in detail for those who have not yet seen the film. Send me a PM if you'd be up for discussing it.
Maybe I'm overthinking it. I probably am. But these were the thoughts in my head as I left the theater.Hey, you should really see this so we can decide if I'm overthinking it!
