Edward Scissorhands - PG-13 I rather enjoyed this second time 'round despite not really liking it the first time I saw it. The storyline is very captivating as Avon lady Peg finds a man with knives for hands, Edward, alone in an abandoned home. Watching Edward being introduced into the Surburbia lifestyle and to the world is very interesting to watch and Johnny Depp portrays the character extremley well. Overall Edward Scissorhands is an intruguing and joyful film to watch and I would reccomend. January 2, 2010

Introducing the Dwights (Clubland) - R The film itself is acually rather boring for quite a few scenes, but its the acting that really makes it stand out with Brenda Blethyn the obvious stand-out as a Mother struggling to let her son grow up. The storyline doesn't really have any major breakthroughs or climaxes so it runs fairly slowly, but the acting is what keeps you watching in a way as the lead cast are all very good. Overall Clubland won't be for everyone but it's still fairly good and you might find yourself enjoying it. January 1, 2010

Disturbia - PG-13 It's a perfect teen Thriller lead by a great cast with a very gripping storyline. Shia LaBeouf is perfect as teenager Kale that is placed under house arrest and soon discovers one of his neighbours could be a killer. Watching Kale descend into madness was very interesting to watch, as well as his growing obsession with his other neighbour Ashley. The final moments of the film is where the action really picks up and it's a great results. Overall Disturbia is great and definitley worth a look! January 1, 2010

Interview with the Vampire - R A very clever and witty Horror film that's very different to any other film I've watched before. Acting is brilliant, with Kirsten Dunst a stand-out acting very mature when she needs to playing a 30 year old in a child's body. Brad Pitt is also rather good as the lead character Louis. The storyline is good, though it's slightly drawn out at times. Plenty of great pure Horror moments as well as some very dramatic scenes. Overall a great vampire film and well worth checking out. Avatar - PG-13 I never doubted that this wouldn't be totally awesome and right I was. Avatar is truly a brilliant film, and James Cameron has delivered us his best work yet. It's visually stunning and the acting is top notch, especially from Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana. The storyline is great as we follow Jake Sully and his journey to live with the Na'vi people. I'm really hoping that it gets the recognition it deserves come the Oscars because it's one of the best films I've seen! December 30, 2009

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (Ice Age 3) - PG Just as good as the first two Ice Age films (slightly better than the second but not as good as the first) and a film that's bound to keep Ice Age fans happy :) The addition of a few more new characters is more than welcome, especially the hilarious Buck, voiced by Simon Pegg. The storyline actually stars out a little too silly but gets better as the film goes on. Plenty of comedy and fun to be had here, plus Scratt is back too :P Overall the third installment of the Ice Age films is great :) December 30, 2009

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown - PG Just as good as the first with the addition of a few new faces in the mix as well, including the hilarious Ellie, voiced by Queen Latifah. It's not as simplistic as the first, and it probably a tad sillier, but there is still plenty of fun to be had here with a good storyline and concept. Scrat is also given more airtime this time 'round most likely due to his popularity from the first film. Overall fans of the first Ice Age film will be more than pleased with the sequel. The Island - PG-13 I really enjoyed this action-packed film lead by Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. It's such a great concept and storyline that draws you in from the very beginning and takes you on a great journey. The cast is perfect for the film and the characters are very likeable. It's the mind-blowing action scenes that really take the cake though with some very cool special effects making a visually spectacular film. Overall The Island simply has it all and is a film I would highly reccomend! December 28, 2009

Ice Age - PG Nothing but pure family fun to be had here, and its fun for all ages as well. Manny and Sid pair up to help take a baby back to his Father along with the help from the very deceiving Diego. Its a good storyline and the characters are great as well. Its a rather short film so a few extra scenes here and there couldn't of hurt it. It was also only a matter of time before a sequel emerged. Overall its a great comedy for kids of all ages, meaning big kids like me too, and well worth a look. December 27, 2009

Grease - PG Nothing beats this enjoyable musical from the 70's. It's the romantic love story of Danny and Sandy with some memorable songs and scenes that made this film a cult classic. The songs are just great as is the dancing, and a nice lil' corny storyline as well. It has so much that recent musicals (think 'High School Musical') just couldn't get a grasp on. John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John were also perfect for the lead roles. Overall it's a classic musical not to be missed! December 26, 2009

Shrek the Halls - G A reasonable effort but nothing compared to the Shrek films. Fair enough it's short, but it probably could have been much better. A few laughs here and there, but there wasn't really much of a storyline which was the main problem. Being such a big fan of the series I would have expected more, but hey for what its worth its still worth checking out, especially at Christmas because all the talk about being with family and friends does kind of get you in that mood. How the Grinch Stole Christmas - PG A very enjoyable Christmas film that simply put wouldn't be the same if it wasn't for Jim Carrey breathing life into the character of 'The Grinch'. While it's aimed at the kids it's still rather enjoyable for adults to watch as well, with a clever storyline and likeable cast and characters. Taylor Momsen is also a total cutie-pie (before she turned trashy on 'Gossip Girl'). Overall it's the perfect Christmas movie to get you in the holiday mood, and one of my favourite Christmas movies. Jingle All the Way - PG One of my favourite Christmas movies with Arnie in one of his few funny roles as Howard, a Dad on a mission to get his son Jamie a Turbo Man doll. It pretty much sums up Christmas Eve madness down to a tee with some hilarious results and its the perfect film to watch in late December. Acting is good, Arnie is hilarious, and the storyline is very creative and clever. A little corny yes but nothing wrong with that. Overall it's a good comedy perfect for Christmas :) December 21, 2009

Shrek the Third (Shrek 3) - PG Another good installment to the Shrek series but it doesn't top the first or second film unforntuatley. Good to see the same characters/actors back plus a few newbies, but none that really stood out like the second films new faces. Storyline is good and creative, but once again tries to do a lot more than it should rather than sticking to the basics like the first. Overall it will keep fans of the first two films happy, and I do actually look forward to the fourth installment next year :) December 20, 2009
