I enjoy thinking about who wrote it, who directed it and how all of that interplays. I LOVE all the arts as well!! About me? Well that Ill update later on... wink. |

Sunshine Cleaning
by DanielleI've got a feeling this is gonna end up being one of my favourite films of the year once it's released. Perfect casting in Amy Adams and Emily Blunt, always a pleasure to see steve zahn, and Alan Arkin justs rounds it off. The plot is just so ridiculously brilliant, I seriously can't wait. I'm calling it, big indie winner.Check out the trailer, looks really charming and funny.
Upcoming movie, trailer is brilliant

Playing by Heart
by DanielleFirst things first where's Madeline Stowe these days?I really loved her work in the 90's, anyway back to 'Playing by Heart'. Hit or Miss ensemble piece featuring a pretty harcore cast, including a young Angelina Jolie, Ellen Burstyn, Gena Rowlands, Sean Connery, Gillian Anderson,Ryan Phillipe and the aforementioned Madeline Stowe.
Eleven connected people searching for love in LA, high points include Burstyn's charactert coping with the inevitabele death of her homosexual son, a very charming Jon Stewart wooing Anderson, and a young Jolie. Sappy points are a many but the good definitely outweigh the bad.Think Crash only more funny and involving love

All the Real Girls
by DanielleBeautifully captured by David Gordan Green, 'All the real girls' tells the story of your first love.
The film plods along until we meet Paul and Noel(played by Paul Schneider and Zooey Deschanel) who share some of the best onscreen chemistry I've seen in a long long time.
I really recommend you watch it twice before forming an opinion, first time round you might fail to appreciate the honesty, imagery and emotional sweetness of this little indie triumphGreat little indie film, directed by David Gordan Green

How to Lose Friends & Alienate People
by DanielleSure the trailer looks great but it's all a lie, believe me. Simon Pegg as Sidney Young is spot on, problem is Sidney Young isn't exactly a likeable character, he's a pain in the ass and £7.50 of my hard earned cash(ok I lie easy earned cash) has been wasted on watching this guy apparently grow as a person, but he doesn't really grow, and I still want to stick his head down a toilet at the end credits.
The best part of the film is seeing all the celebrity cameos and that's saying something, nice to see Gillian Anderson on the big screen again and Danny Huston and Bridges are sure fire things, the film taking a nose dive whenever they're not on screen. Problem is 'How to lose friends...' just isn't funny, ok so a doggy jumps out a window(hello Just married) and the two leads (Dunst and Pegg) harbour somewhat secret crushes on each other(practically every romcom), 'How to lose friends...' fails to be original or funny and infact alienates the audience, or maybe it just alienated me. Anyway if your gonna see it wait for the rentals, bland and predictable, save your money on a better film'How to lose friends and alienate People' um yea by seeing this movie, do yourself a favour save your money and wait for the dvd rental

Righteous Kill
by DanielleWhy oh why didn't I listen, was dragged along to this much to my own dismay, read some truly awful reviews where the director was, well lets just say he didn't get too many nice words.
Who knows what DeNiro and Pacino were thinking when they signed on, it's pretty laughable seeing two pensioners(pacino 68, DeNiro 65) chasing down the bad guys. There's absolutely nothing worse than a predictable script that pretends to be smarter than it is, ok so the director thinks he's gonna shock us with he's oh so brilliant twist at the end...NOT.
About as exciting as a tub of butter, no pacing, old and tired actors, and for crying out loud 50cent, I should have known.
See at your own risk.Unrecommendation, when two of Hollywoods greatest take a career nose dive simultaneously.

Mirrors
by DanielleJack Bauer is going gaa-gaa or is he??
Extremely dull/lifeless horror with only moments of terror, I expected alot more from Alexandre Aja; he who directed the brilliant hills have eyes remake.
It's nice story and all(evil spirits on the other side of the mirror), it just needs too much work, the screenplay without doubt is a mess, plot is pretty much transparent, and who didn't see that end coming, I found myself wanting to fast-forward through the whole thing.
Jack Bauer fighting malevolent spirits, sounds kick ass but I'm afraid notUNRECOMMENDATION>>>Extreme Horror fans will more than likely eat it up, but for the rest of us shadows, shaky camera work and a whole lot of growling(ya kiefer) doesn't mean scary.

The Day the Earth Stood Still
by DanielleThe essence of a great sci fi flick, why can't we have films like this today, simple yet effective storytelling is the key, and now with a remake on course I can't say I'm feeling too good about it.
What holds this film together is Michael Rennies, he is the heart and soul of the film as alien Klaatu who has come to Earth with messages of warnings joined by his 'bodygaurd' Gort, a giant robot who has the ability to evaporate all in sight with laser shots from his eyes. You'd be surprised how well it all still looks, granted it is 1951 and Gort looks rather stupid today but I can't explain it , it still works. A top notch sci fi film, with words of warning for us all, check it outUndoubtedly one of the first great science fiction flicks, check it out before the upcoming remake starring Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly arrives.
