1
Blue Velvet (1986,  R)
Blue Velvet
This movie is perfect, and the dialogue is unforgettable.
Dennis Hopper is pure genius as Frank Booth, a villain who can make you cringe, laugh and feel pity all in the same scene.
2
Robotto kânibaru (Robot Carnival) (1987,  Unrated)
Robotto kânibaru (Robot Carnival)
The best and most beautiful movie ever to be animated. My sister and I loved this when we were little, and I have yet to find something that equals this in beauty.
3
An American Werewolf in London (1981,  R)
An American Werewolf in London
A truly ground-breaking film that combines humor, horror, and a tragic love story. One of my personal favorites.
4
Mulholland Drive (2001,  R)
Mulholland Drive
Creates a world of happiness and beauty, then rips it away to show a crumbling sanity.
And I honestly don't understand how people can't get it. Just pay attention!
5
Harold and Maude (1971,  PG)
6
City Lights (1931,  Unrated)
7
Legend (1985,  PG)
8
Ed Wood (1994,  R)
Ed Wood
Love it. The way it was shot like an Ed movie is brilliant. And Johnny Depp looks beautiful in drag.
9
Project A-Ko (1986,  Unrated)
Project A-Ko
Was a huge A-ko fan when I was a kid, and I still am.
10
Blade Runner (1982,  R)
Blade Runner
Has it's flaws but just might be the ultimate Cyberpunk movie.
11
The Truman Show (1998,  PG)
12
The Princess Bride (1987,  PG)
13
The Goonies (1985,  PG)
14

Almost real, and very tragic.
17
No Sad Songs for Me (1950,  PG)
No Sad Songs for Me
Realistic, and touching. The story about a woman more courageous than anyone.
18
Lolita (1962,  Unrated)
Lolita
Deeply disturbing, funny and heartwarming.
I love roller-coaster movies like this.
19
Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro) (1988,  Unrated)
