Hmmm.
If I were really observant, I would've guessed who THE SOURCE is (was). I love how the story was woven...the turn of events...the way the roles were played...kept me guessing. The music made me panic...each day added to her being in jail made me pity her, and yet, I wanted to slap her too because she was being damn stubborn. In the middle of the story I was confident that I knew the answer because of who Kate was and why she was admant. Yet, I was wrong. I love the strength of Rachel Armstrong who was based on the real journalist named Judith Miller who was jailed for contempt of court because she wouldn't reveal her source naming Valerie Plame as a covert CIA operative. Although it was based on real events (the disclaimer of the movie at the start of the film), the rest of the movie was just concocted by Rod Lurie, its writer and director. |

Ok, Ok...it's not a critically acclaimed film, but it is majorly entertaining. The story is nothing new. I've seen several Filipino films with a similar theme, but I love the way the actors portrayed their roles.
(I just don't buy the part where the stripper, the pastor, the salesman, and the waiter is one person...and that the women of Sitka found him alluring...that's selling the women there short) |

The "love" angle ruined it all (maybe not between Scarlet and Ripcord, but between the baroness and Duke)... The good thing about this is that I could expect it to improve on its sequel (versus a better 1st episode than the sequels kinda movie)...plus, some lines and voices were kinda off.
Still, I don't believe others who claim it's the worse movie they've ever seen. It still has its good points. |
