Om Shanti Om - Unrated Genre: Romantic Comedy, Musical, Bollywood

This movie is not a thinker's movie, but I must say it is very, very enjoyable. It has lots and lots of flaws, but I like Farah Khan's directorial job.

I also like the fact that there was no little role in the movie. Everyone was honored, from the producers, directors, actors, staff and crew.

Some of the scenes were a bit silly, but they added to the enjoyment factor.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - PG Wow! This is the best screen version so far! I love it. Of course people who've read the book like me would tend to compare it...but for once, please forget about the book and focus on the movie. The direction, the special effects, the casting...yes, everything was entertaining.

Ok, maybe not perfect, but it's really the greatest version of Prince Caspian so far.

I also love two of the songs of the movie. THE CALL and THIS IS HOME.

Come and watch this movie. You won't regret it!

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - PG-13 It's an exciting film...there were some parts that bored me that I almost fell asleep, but I love it! Harrison Ford can still pull it off. The teamwork of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas is unbeatable so far. It's action packed! Hmmm, can't wait to see if Disneyland (Anaheim) will improve the ride I already love. May 25, 2008

What Happens in Vegas - PG-13 (just some notes---yup. not really a review)
Wow! I must say that I really love this movie. Two people sooo wrong for each other (imagine meeting at Sin City then after four hours you tie the knot) became each other's soul mate in the long run. As Queen Latifa's role (Dr. Twitchell) said, "Both of them have issues...but together..."

Yes, it might be called "a chick flick", but it's a beautiful "chick flick"

************************

I just didn't like the role of Michelle Krusiec as the "miserable" kiss up Asian (at least she's hardworking, but still...)

At any rate, I love how Jack Jr and Jack Sr (Treat Williams) finally met eye to eye because of Joy (Cameron Diaz)

=)

I'm highly recommending it!

(but I don't expect it to win any awards...)

After "peeping" at the Ozine Fest '08 at the SM Mega Trade Hall after eating with RJ, I knew I needed to relax a bit before going home. I was hoping to watch THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, but it wasn't playing yet. The other movies weren't quite wholesome so it was a relief to "discover" this film.

Shucks. I never heard about it before. Maybe when Tyler Perry (the writer/director and Terry) or Janet Jackson (as Dr. Patricia Agnew) was being interviewed by those famous people about it I was in the powder room or something.

The movie is nice. Nothing spectacular about it, but I like the friendship story (and of course their different love stories). It's great to see Janet Jackson on screen after a looooong time. How long was that? 6? 7? 8 years?

One of my favorite parts of the movie was when Sheila and Troy kissed then stopped because Sheila had to pray. I couldn't help but chuckle.

Only a few people watched the film and the few that did didn't appreciate their jokes that they rarely laughed(except when Marcus thought Angela was going to kill him...that got a reaction from them).

Oh, I also liked the scene where Gavin confronted Patricia...but I don't want to spoil anything for those of you who still want to watch it.

By the way, the others thought it was a bit preachy, but they liked the ending.

I did too.

According to the imdb.com this story is based on Tyler Perry's play of the same title. Hmmm, so that was why the lines were for the "stage". Some of the acting too seemed to be meant for stage.

So do I recommend it? Let me put it this way, you've got nothing to lose!

Paprika - R Category: Movies
Genre: Animation

Psychotherapy is very much real today, yet in Satoshi Kon's PAPRIKA it climbs up a couple of notches. The DC mini was invented by a young doctor named Dr. Tokita. Like any inventor with a noble cause, Tokita envisioned the device to be a great help in solving problems of future patients.

Unfortunately, three of the prototypes were stolen. This is where the trouble begins.

Science is a wonderful "gift" to mankind, but once misused, danger not only lurks in one corner...it makes itself known.

This is the thrust of the story by Seishi Minakami collaborated with the famous director himself.

No one can play God. If he/she tries to be God, he/she will destruct, rather than create.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I liked this movie...the merging of dreams...the merging of characters...In the first 45 minutes of the film I was already rating it with three stars, but the last ten minutes convinced me it's a four.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This film is definitely NOT for kids because of the many disturbing portions.

Nim's Island - PG Category: Movies
Genre: Action & Adventure

General Viewership

There was a time when I used to imagine living on an island as big as Nim's and having the place all to myself just to have a weekend getaway or maybe stay there for a couple of weeks...but I couldn't imagine living there for a long, long time.

Nim, a beautiful feisty and brave eleven year old girl, lived on an island with her Marine Biologist and National Geographic contributor, Jack Rusoe. Since there were no other children (or other people in the island), young Nim's best friends were animals. She also took refuge in reading. Her imagination runs wild every time she turns the pages of whatever kind of book.

There is one series of books that became her favorite. It was the Alex Rover REAL adventures with the theme: BE THE HERO OF YOUR OWN STORY. Nim took this to heart.

Wait, I'm getting carried away. I might give a lot of spoilers so I'll just say that this is one film that the adults and the children will enjoy. The story, the actors, the scenes and everything else are great!

The Forbidden Kingdom - PG-13 Category: Movies
Genre: Action & Adventure

Once upon a time in China there was a drunken master who journeyed to the west...

I have been waiting for this movie since it was announced some months back and I must say that it was worth the wait!

The film was action packed and magical. Wow! Two of my favorite Asian Actors: Jet Li and Jackie Chan were equally topbilled in this movie. They were both fabulous.

I love the moves, the dialogue and everything else. Even Sky High's Michael Angarano was adorable as Jason and Liu Yi Fei was a charming golden sparrow.

Haaay. Jason and Sparrow had magical moments too!

"If you don't get attached to people and desires never shall your heart be broken...but are you truly alive?"- paraphrased from Lu Dongbin's words to Jason

The characters were based on Wu Cheng'en's novel Journey to the West, but the screenplay's plot is very, very different from the novel according to the Jade Warlord Actor, Collin Chou (Wikipedia info). Oh, I have yet to find that out.

Even if there are better martial arts films than this one, I give it a five because it has every element that I like in a movie---action/adventure-dramedy).

Over Her Dead Body - PG-13 Category: Movies
Genre: Romantic Comedy

Enjoyable. Funny.

I've always adored Paul Rudd since Clueless so that was the only reason I watched this film. He's cute. (I didn't like his movie with Michelle Pfeiffer much though)

One of the old people watching was first appalled when the exorcism didn't work...but then again, she was not a "bad" spirit per se...she just had some unfinished business (yes, it's one of THOSE films) so she kind of "got it" later on...

Nothing spectacular about it, but it's....CUTE
