O (2001,  R)
O 5.0 Stars
One of the most incredible movies I have ever seen. I love basketball, but that's not what the movie is really about. It's about hate, love, betrayal and passion. An amazing story, it's SO GOOD AND I LOVE IT. (based on shakespeare's othello...)

Thirteen 5.0 Stars
Implausible? Maybe a little, but it's hard to deny the power in this movie. It's so scary, because if you're a teen or if you remember being a teen you know that shit happens... The movie doesn't spare you anything, it doesn't sugarcoat, and it makes you hurt for Tracy. Despite her amazing performance, Evan Rachel Wood isn't even the star. Holly Hunter deserves so much credit it's not even funny. She was brilliant.

Oh my god! This movie was amazing. It's an incredible story, and kept me well engaged throughout. It was nothing like I expected, but still managed to exceed expectations and completely overwhelm me. Awesome. I'm so glad I saw it.

Brilliant. That's all there is to it. There are no flaws in this movie, that I can think of. No, it's not too long. It's a perfect length. It's perfectly written, perfectly acted and perfectly edited. Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins are absolutely amazing. I flat-out love this movie. It's awesome.

Closer 4.5 Stars
Lots of people can't get over the dialogue in the movie, and if that's the only reason they don't like the movie... fuck 'em. This is a really good movie. The leads are stellar, the soundtrack is absolutely amazing, and it's very entertaining.

The Notebook 5.0 Stars
Some people have written this off as a chick flick. I highly adivse them to give it a chance. Yeah, you've got to invest yourselves in the story (but that's not hard, because Rachel, Ryan, Gena and James do an amazing job at pulling you in immediately) but it is truly touching and I have never been in a room where there was more tears.

Orange County 5.0 Stars
This is a comedy, yeah, and it's pretty funny. But it's also got some really interesting themes and ideas in it; can we really get away from where we came from? Aren't our roots a critical part of who we are? It's a really good movie, funny, but not brainless.

Excellent in strange ways. Wes Anderson often makes strange films. Good, strange films. In all seriousness, I really really enjoyed this movie because it finds a unique line between comedy and drama, which is a more interesting way of saying it's a black comedy. Everytime I see the title, I think 'Hm. That was a good movie.'

I found this a really emotional movie. The relationships are so genuine, and it draws you in. I love it because the ending isn't a real hollywood ending. Sure, there's a pretty happy ending, but the tragedy in the movie is seen in the end as well. Great story.

This movie is like nothing I have seen before; it is completely brilliant in a completely different way. The way it offers no explanation for tragedy, but makes it so tangible, is incredible. It may not be a 5 star movie, but I have never seen anything like it and so in conclusion I am going to give this movie 4 1/2 stars :-)

Wow. I was very impressed. The movie is strange, but that's what makes it so interesting and endearing. The whole movie is fairly low key, but the characters (particularly Steve Buscemi) are believable, and loveable in a strange, strange way... that's what keeps you interested, and watching. Because it's actually quite long.

Grizzly Man (2008,  R)
Grizzly Man 5.0 Stars
Wow. This was actually a really amazing experience. At first, we (well, I) was on the floor laughing, because it was so bizarre, but it gets so much more tragic because you come to see Timothy in an intimate light. The viewer is witness to his inner thoughts, his raw emotion, and through interviews we learn his history. I know more about this man that I have never met than I do about people I encounter every day, which is very surreal knowledge.

I expected laughs, jokes, and yes, there are some moments that are just too bizarre not to laugh at, but there's also a lot of melancholy and sadness for Timothy, the bear protector, and there are some truly beautiful shots in his footage.

House of Sand and Fog (2003,  R)
House of Sand and Fog 5.0 Stars
This is one of the saddest, most tragic movies I've seen. It's a really good adaptation from the book (which, obviously, is really good too). I find it heartbreaking because this is a movie where no one has a happy ending, but no one was acting with malicious intentions. Everyone did what they thought was best, but no one ends up happy (they all end up far from it). It's so sad. I now need to see Jennifer Connelly in a happy role because after this and Requiem...

I loved this. Every aspect of this movie is perfect in it's imperfection. My heart was breaking at the same time I was laughing. It can be painfully cute, but there are sad moments that make you laugh. Every character shone and everyone was endearing, the plot was amazingly engaging. What a family story. I actually loved it.

Roméo et Juliette (2006,  Unrated)
Roméo et Juliette 5.0 Stars
I absolutely loved this. Far far far superior to Bahz Luhrman's horrific trainwreck that apparently passes for a movie.

It's so achingly sweet, it's the first version of the play as a movie that made me believe the passion. Maybe it's because I fell in love with Thomas Lalonde.

I love love loved it, heartbreaking, unique, Jeanne Moreau made the movie entirely fabulous, loved her beginning and end to the story. French is so beautiful to listen to, I can only imagine understanding it, we watched with subtitles.
