| Just know that I'm not here to hook up, to get to know each other on a personal level, to talk on MSN or AOL, to exchange emails or any of that matter. I'm here strictly for movies. As you can see for the many reviews and the many tests I've taken, I am obsessed with movies. That is the only reason why I'm here. |

The Jane Austen Book Club
PG-13
Relatively sweet film but ultimately filled with silliness. The choices in actress was great because it made you invested in the characters.
The Darjeeling Limited

The film is quite stunning and in many ways, it shows Anderson's maturity and growth as a director. However, the story suffers from being too long and not that interesting.
Lars and the Real Girl
PG-13
A surprisingly sweet and humble film about a community who gathers for one man. Gosling is amazing as always. However, this is probably Mortimer's most powerful and honest performance yet.
Dan in Real Life
PG-13
An entertaining yet predictable film. Not a whole lot of laughs here. However, Carell and Binoche share a surprisingly sweet chemistry.
Smiley Face

What was I thinking renting this? Anna Faris needs to reexamine her career. And I need to update my Netflix queue.
Happily N'Ever After
PG
The movie not only suffers from being a cheap Shrek knockoff but also, i'ts not really that entertaining. And Sarah Michelle Geller and Freddie Prinze Jr. as the main characters? Really?!?!?

No Country for Old Men

As a movie fan I have clearly seen many films. But no amount of Michaels, Jasons, Freddies, Jigsaws or Aliens have left shaking as Javier Bardem's character, Anton Chigurh. Easily comporable in powerhouse acting and as fear inducing as Anthony Hopkin's Hannibal. Amazing film in which you never know what's going to happen. Amazing performances from Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin. Javier Bardem once told Al Pacino "I don't believe in God, I believe in Al Pacino". Well, I may believe in God, and I certainly believe in Javier Bardem.

Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
by xGaryStanley Kubrick's black comic masterpiece begins as a pseudo documentary describing the numerous nuclear safeguards in place to "defend" the US against attack. In fact, the film was originally intended to be a straight cold war thriller based on the novel Red Alert as Kubrick had become obsessed with the idea of nuclear annihilation after the Cuban missile crisis which occurred the previous year. But upon commencing filming, Kubrick realised it was actually impossible to capture the scale of such an unimaginable situation if played straight and instead concentrated on the inherent absurdities, and it is that inspired decision that is one of the examples of his true genius. Dr. Strangelove himself is rather a peripheral character, sticking only in the memory because of his silly accent and (somewhat overplayed) slapstick. For me the real laughs come in the more deadpan scenes, particularly those involving Sellers' bumbling, stiff upper-lipped voice of reason, Group Captain Mandrake and Sterling Hayden's loopy base commander, and George C. Scott's child-like philandering general. Some may not see the funny side of mutual annihilation, but it's an enduring and classic piece of political satire.
We can't risk there becoming a mine-shaft gap!

In the Shadow of the Moon
by MarkExcellent Documentary on the Apollo Space Program. I got goosebumps listening to Jim Lovell quote Genesis as the Earth appears alongside the Moon during Apollo 8. Highly Recommended.

P.S. I Love You
by BrockI truly enjoyed this film and there are some entertainingly funny moments, some emotional moments ( not as many as i thought there would be, but more than enough for my wife) and a truly wonderful story about love and loss and basically life sadly goes on with his help with letters after Gerard Butler's death.
I think Gerard Butler is impressive in this film esp after his male bravado in 300, definitely think he was the perfect person for the role. I also enjoyed the supporting cast, but for some reason I wasnt truly convinced about Swank. But hey thats just me. Still if you enjoy a good laugh n cry than you will enjoy this ( i didn't find myself crying but my wife did whereas i did with 'The Notebook',' Beaches' or an olden goldie like 'The Ghost & Mrs Muir', my favourite love story - similar in some ways this film).Hey, you should really see this!

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
by BrockSadly i had high expectations for this film and were let down immensley. First thing i will say is that Affleck & Pitt are wonderful actors but this film was such a drawn out yawn.
Here is a film that is well over 2hrs long and they leave out important parts to the mindset of Ford ( he was arrested for killing Jesse's cousin, didn't stroll into a police station and was told he would be pardoned if he killed Jesse James. After killing James he was arrested before being pardoned. Now the last part of all that sounds like a more interesting story than the time spent from moving house to house in the first hour of this damn film. Think I need to go back and watch the Life of Jesse James and not the hero worshiping turn coward of Fords life as if this was it was incredibly dull and uninteresting. At least Jesse fires he gun more than once!!!!!Hey, you should really see this if u want to lose 2hrs 40mins of your life!!!! Sure a few of my flixster friends will crucify me for a bad rating but 2 stars is much as i can give it!!!! It was incredibly long, boring, dull and found myself nodding of! Thank god i never went to the cinemas to see this. 2 stars is for Pitt & Affleck, who shined in this film and was nearly wondering if the assasination may have turned into my suicide!!!!!
