very bad but funny in a good way., a 80s video nasty, AS killer robots on rampage in mall, after hours with a group of over sex teens there pray, they are there to defend mall, but killing is there game, some nice deaths throighout, badly acted, and very enjoyable, and a very very bad 80 score

Mongol

enjoyable and bloody tale of genghis khan from his childhood to his early years fighting with warriors, and on the run from various tribes, to the moment his reign would make history, a well told story, and great performancs from everyone involved, the battle scenes are full of energy, and violent, and of course a little humour throughout, but ot to much, we dont get to see the leader we all know about,, and his reign, but a good story told, and hopefully same team will make that one day

The Day the Earth Stood Still

good creepy first half, which went quite well, departing from original, but basic premise kept, its the second half, that lets film down, with set pieces and special effects,and although a sci fi, not very consistant with whats seen before, check reeves jacket for example, when moments before a truck and football stadium are totally gobb;ed up, and a lot has been said about reeves performance, he wasent bad, by far one of the better things about this true theres no emotion, but in a year warlberg talked to a plant, with disasterous results, keanus ok

a doc showing the birth of english band joy division, and eventuall suicide to ian curtis lead singer, great talking heads from band and close asociates, and a great eye for the past, 2 films have delt with joy division in this decade, control, more a acount of curtis dealings with his life, and the exellent 24 hour party people, which deals with the manchester scene they and many others formed, all worth a look, but for definite acount, watch this first, if its the band you want to know about

What Just Happened?

robert de niro is a great watch, as a movie producer, with 2 worrys on his mind, a ending to his film, which must be changed, involving a shooting of a dog, and on a new film due to start, bruce willis in a beard, which is not good news, and with family pressure adding to worries, he must get on top of things, a satire on hollywood, not really cutting edge, the player did it much better, and wag the dog, also starring bob, a more political viewpoint, being better examples, but it is entertaining, and with small roles from bruce willis playing himself, a great laugh, sean penn, doing the same, and a exellent john turtorro as a stressed agent, some good moments all round

Changeling

clint eastwod directs this fasinating tale of a missing child, the returning of child, and the mothers despair as she sees the kid is not her child, and her anguish at the L.A police department, for simply not believing her, as the police department was a very corrupt place, and public opinion, not on there side, it is said, a replacement for her son was given to her, to gain the police department back some much needed respect, and public opinion, this film deals really well, with a mothers despair, and angelina jolie is superb, if ever a role made for oscar, this is it, she does say, this is not my son throughout a awful lot, and crying bucket loads, but it works, certainly her best work for a long time, the film also shows the story of corruptiuon well, and all police and inspectors, either lying through there teth, or realising they simply did the wrong thing in this situation, and there, if theres a film that you want to see to inspire to stand up the man, this is one of them, eastwod directs and with a great eye too, this film looks great,from, downtown losangeles, to deserted ranches, this film is never dull, with a story streching over 8 years,and many charactors coming into play, lots of emotional moments and some hard scenes to watch, child murder, amoung them, a true story of a time gone by, a really great watch

FO JOANY, PALAHNIUKS, NUMBER 1 FAN

chuck palanicks2nd novel to hit screen after almost 10 years, fight club, became a modern masterpiece, and although choke isnt a masterpiece fightclub was, its got a lot going for it, sam rockwell is great as victor mancini, a sex addict, trying to pay the bills so his mother can stay at a nursing home, his regular visits showing the state shes in, and his encounter with a nurse played by kelly macdonald, which hopefully will change him, and his best mate larry, also a sex addict,, and his dealings with his thing. like fight club, the narration helps the film, a lot like norton in fight club, also watching early years scenes with anjelica huston and younger victor, reminded me of fight clubs tyler durden, quite a low budget film compared to fight club, and using its setting well, some great indie music throughout, helping it along, and the humour throughout is great, i not read choke the novel, but a few of palanicks works, and a few more aparently in the works for films, with his great strytelling, heres hoping they turn out like this
