The Dark Knight
by K JOnce upon a time, Batman Begins was my all time favorite Batman movie. Not anymore... Enter The Dark Knight----PHENOMENAL!!!
It is rare that a much hyped film lives up to or surpasses that hype. TDK more than equals all the hype presented months leading up to its release. With much anticipation and high expectations, this film delivered all I wanted and more.
Plot details are best left for viewing, but if you truly listen to the dialogue in TDK, you will understand that from a comic book genre film, a masterpiece has arisen. Christopher Nolan has perfected the art of putting the comic book on screen. Jonathan Nolan has written a script which knows no boundaries.
Christian Bale is Batman. Bale captures Batman/Bruce Wayne in a way no actor before him ever could. Oldham, Morgan, and Caine reprise their respective roles from Batman Begins and add great flavor to the film. Eckhart shines as Harvey Dent and Gyllenhall is a nice replacement as Rachel Dawes. The chemistry between all the actors help Nolan create a world which works beautifully.
Heath Ledger- the Joker...WOW ... mere words cannot describe what Ledger brought to this character. The level to which Ledger took the Joker is almost incomprehensible. No comparison to those who have played the role before as it would be like comparing apples to oranges. Ledger owns the Joker, and most likely no one will ever take that ownership away. Anyone would be foolish to even attempt. Ledger's performance alone is enough reason for anyone to see this film. Will he receive an Oscar nod? He should for this is one of the most brilliant roles ever portrayed on screen.
The plot, the acting, the directing, and the cinematography are blended seamlessly in TDK. The film is easily the best film of 2008 to date. The action and drama, the darkness of the film itself all make this much, much more than a comic book adaptation. This is the must see film of the decade.Prepare yourself to be blown away.... TDK rises above any which have come before it. (Seeing this in IMAX is magnificent and highly recommended!)

by CreepNow this was one scary and frightful movie. Very believable and nerve-wracking. Nail-biting and suspenseful. An eerie movie that will have you jumping out of your seat. This movie defines horror. One of the best horror films of 2007.
I highly recommend this movie to any true horror fan out there!!

You definitely should see this movie! Scary stuff!

Them (Ils)
by CreepThis movie was not the least bit scary to me. The Strangers was way scarier. I don't care that "Them" is based on a "supposedly" true story. I looked everywhere for it and there's nothing that comes even close to what these directors described. I understand that most horror movies "based" on a true incident are far fetched to begin with, but this being based on a "true case" could've been the only thing to save this movie, and make it even remotely scary. "The Strangers" comes closer to a true incident than this does. The "Keddie Cabin Murders(www.cabin28.com)", although not thoroughly explained in The Strangers story wise, is a completely and utterly frightening tale. At the end of "Them" it explains that one of the "actual" killers did this evil deed simply because, and they quote "They wouldn't play with us". Scary right? One good thing this movie had going for it. Well I thought so too only if that were true. I later found out that the whole ending was fabricated by the directors. Again, not saying that this "true story" label being a lie is what makes this movie so bad. It's just that only if it were really "true" would I look at this bore fest in a different light, but on the contrary it's still a sloppy mess on the surface. No real thrills, no nail-biting suspense, not even a good build up. Yes it's true, the acting was good and there's some pretty decent atmosphere, but story wise this blows. As a director it's your job to tell a story through particular shot choices and keep the movie at a certain pace. No matter how many good actors or directors of photography you have, it's up to the director to be able to carry all of this material well. This movie had a lot of prime key elements, and it could've been something really good, but it was just executed very poorly. Nothing here was even convincing enough to send real chills, and to be "truly" scary it must be very believable(I partly blame the lame "sewer ending" for destroying that part). Anyways stick to The Strangers. A much better movie in every way possible.
Read my review. I really DID NOT like this movie at all...

The Blob (1988)
by CreepGory and action packed remake! A very fun 80's horror/sci-fi film. Good (goofy)acting, well written, great cinematography, faced paced and filled with gooey slime and tons of bloody outrageous moments. This remake destroys the original. The effects here are very well done too, given that this was made in the 80's, and it never gets too cheesy like most horror films of it's time. The best part I have to say, is when the guy gets sucked down the drain alive, literally his whole body down one little drain. Fu**ing classic!
This movie isn't scary, so don't expect any real chills here. It's just a fun, exciting and gory horror film that's not meant to be taken too seriously. I mean come on, how can you take a movie about a killer jello-like substance running amok serious in the first place? You shouldn't. But it's still damn fun as hell and entertaining to watch. I highly recommend this movie if you haven't seen it yet!

Great movie. If you haven't seen it yet(and you're a horror fan) then you definitely should!

Azumi
by CreepAzumi and Versus is why I'm so excited to see The Midnight Meat Train. This director, Ryuhei Kitamura, has a niche for creating some kick ass style in all his movies. Azumi is loaded with tons of cool, well choreographed action. Lots of interesting(and funny) characters. Plenty of drama, lots of humor, and much stylized violence with blood spraying all over the place. This movie is great. And the final battle scene, I must say, is unbelievably breathtaking. It literally sent chills down my spine. This girl kicked some major fu**ing ass!
Azumi was originally given an NC-17 rating, and although it is pretty violent, I believe the NC-17 rating was given for a rape scene that was later cut out. The blood here does flow, but it's not like it's in your face every 5 seconds. I also believe that The Midnight Meat Train is Ryuhei Kitamura's first American made movie. I just hope it's as good as some other pervious horror reviewers make it out to be. I hear The Midnight Meat Train is suppose to be insanely crazy and twisted. Can't wait to see it!
Anyways, I highly recommend Azumi! Get your hands on this movie as soon as you could.

Definitely see this movie!

In Bruges
by K JIrish playwright Martin McDonagh has written and directed a brilliant film. Kudos to Mr. McDonagh for his most unique story. The mood and contrast between the lead characters (superbly portrayed by Farrell and Gleeson) worked on so many levels, and you can't walk away from this film without caring for them. The humor, the sensitivity, and the moral complexity of this film weave together to make an almost perfect drama/comedy. The Bruges setting is shot fabulously for the storyline. This first film from Martin McDonagh is impressive in the extreme. In Bruges may truly be my favorite black comedy of all time.
Hey, you should really see this!
What a film! Somehow I feel I should have rated it 5 stars instead of 4 1/2, but I'll leave the rating for now. Highly recommended if you enjoy black comedy. Word of caution- it is filled with cursing, most especially the F word. For those who can't enjoy a film with this language, stay away.
It was also a pleasure to see Colin Farrell at the top of his game again. He is absolutely superb in his role as Ray. Great choice of script Mr. Farrell!posted 12 days ago -

Untraceable
by K JCan't quite put my finger on what is missing from Untraceable, but there is something that holds this film back from being great. The storyline is very believable to me. Killings being broadcast via the internet does not take a huge leap in belief with todays technology. The FBI being involved and stymied doesn't take a long stretch in believability either. The cast is good, the story plausible, the killings are disturbing and graphic... The plot is disquietingly too realistic and I shudder to think how quickly something of this nature could happen. All in all, I liked the film, but I just would love to know what is missing that keeps it from being great.
Definitely worth viewing....

Hancock
by K JHancock earns 3 1/2 stars, being a bit above average because Will Smith was great and hilarious in the first 40 minutes, Jason Bateman was great in the first 30 minutes, a couple of scenes are totally roll on the floor funny and the story broke off into what could have developed as awesome drama. Could have become awesome drama, but someone went cutting crazy or decided to hurry up and end the film. Overall, I enjoyed this popcorn flick, but it could have been so much more....
Worth seeing, but you don't have to rush to the theater. DVD will be fine for Hancock...
