United 93 2006, R)
United 93 is one of the most emotionally powerful movies I have ever seen. It is very gut-wrenching and suspensful to watch from start to finish and Paul Greengrass hit the right tones and notes to make this compelling story work. The entire structure of the film is woven together perfectly and gives us a greater appreciation for the human spirit. |

Almost Famous 2000, R)
Watching this film in theaters was a joy unto itself, as I felt this was one of the absolute best movies of 2000. But it was an even greater experience the second time I saw it in theaters, this time with my folks as I watched them just get absorbed with fond memories of growing up in that time period. Everything about this movie worked and it truly is from the heart. |

The Passion of the Christ 2004, R)
Though I have a hard time watching Last Temptation of Christ, I forced myself to sit through Passion of the Christ and discovered that while I'm not religious I have a deep, emotional sense to what Jesus Christ did and it effected my outlook on religion a lot. Oh, and it's a magnificent piece of filmmaking. |

Batman Begins 2005, PG-13)
Thank you, Christopher Nolan. Not only is this the best Batman film, but it is very close to bringing to the silver screen what Batman really is about. Everything ringed true from the screenplay to the casting to the visual presentation to the brilliant soundtrack. It ranks right up there with Sin City, Spider-Man 2 and Superman as one of the best superhero films to date. I look forward to seeing the sequel, The Dark Knight. |

Cats Don't Dance 1997, G)
Now this is a fun movie. I can't believe I passed it up when it first hit theaters. The film is just full of energy that few others contain and really does a marvelous job harkening back to the classic Hollywood musicals of old. The songs are a knock-out, the storytelling is just right, and the animation is a sensation of life. I'm feeling happy just talking about it. Check this movie out! |
