More of the same Guy Ritchie fodder... A few too many geezer accents.. and a continuation of the cockney slang, that sounded so well crafted and strung together in Lock Stock, but actually manages to come off as pretentious in this flick. Lots of pointless characters, lots of excess plot, not enough meaty filling.
Not a bad little movie... It's like a mishmash of The Craft and Bring It On, but missing a something that the other two have. It's got its moments, with enough smirks n chuckles to keep you watchin.
I remember having my wisdom teeth out, it took about a week of continuous aches and pains before I could happily eat again... But that week, of bloody mouths, soup and nurofen... doesn't come close to the pain caused by having to wait for this pointless fucking film to give me the closing credits. It's an, at times, interesting journey... Only.. it seems to have no point. Crumola.
Utterly beautiful and totally mesmerising. I beg of anyone, not to watch the english dub. Which is tricky as english subtitles don't seem to exist. I had to babelfish the subs from the original Spanish ones. Someone told me that this film transcends language, and although I think they're probably right, it also has the most magical storyline worked in to it, one that's a complete pleasure to experience. Think Miyazaki, but with less surrealism and more heart.
An interesting tale... For someone who has no real understanding of Wall Street and all it's magguffins, it still made for a good doc. Yet more proof that money makes money. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.
It's got a great style, good performances, it's not your run-of-the-mill plot... but somehow all that adds up to... well, not a lot. A nice movie, but somewhat unmemorable.
Slick dialogue and a strong cast, Sam Rockwell taking the lead and handling it with ease. It didn't hit with the same force as Fight Club, but I wasn't expecting that from it... It did sit in that same beautiful and sinister world tho... I should really get to reading some Palahniuk stuff.
A little predictable, but with a nice message... Makes you feel like you could be doing more with your life... But at the same time, Carey's character is on a rather comfy 65k a year, who couldn't have a fuckin blast with that droppin in your bank account. I expected a bit more with a pairing of Carey n Deschanel... but all in all, it had its moments. Oh, yeh, Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) is the absolute highlight.
One mans take on 'Why does it always go wrong?'. It's lacking in the ending department, and coulda done with a follow up six months further down the line... But the journey there is equal parts cringeworthy, depressing, enlightening and amusing.
No, it's nothing to do with The Fog... Trapped in a supermarket with your random crazy americans on the inside, and all sorts of other dimensional nasties on the outside... A good few nailbiting moments and nicely placed scares throughout.
