| All the Real Girls - R |
PAUL SCHNEIDER, ZOOEY DESCHANEL, SHEA WHIGHAM, PATRICIA CLARKSON, DANNY MCBRIDE, MAURICE COMPTE, BENJAMIN MOUTON
Twenty-two-year-old Paul lives with his mother and works as a mechanic in a sleepy North Carolina mill town. Charming, smart, and unambitious, he has a devoted circle of rowdy friends and a reputation as a callous heart breaker. When he meets his best friend's sister Noel, fresh from boarding school graduation, the two fall into a perfect, real, but terrifying love. Love the simplicity of how real and raw the love story in this movie is. The characters are very realistic. You relate to one of more of them on many levels. This is not your typical Hollywood movie. These characters are every day people. They are someone you may know, or may actually come across in a small town. The two main characters are relatable for those of us who have had their first true love and all the happiness and strife that comes with it. Great cast. Zooey Deschanel is just amazingly good. Paul Schneider is very talented. He was brilliant in this movie. He also co-wrote it. I thought the scene with him and his mom in the hospital was hilarious, and also the scene with Zooey in the bowling ally is just priceless. Loved this movie. |

| Adam - PG-13 |
HUGH DANCY, ROSE BYRNE, FRANKIE FALSON, PETER GALLAGHER, AMY IRVING
I absolutely loved this movie. This movie and many, many others is why Indie movies are my favorite. Great Story. Great performances. Especially from Hugh Dancy. In this movie he plays a character named Adam who has Asperger's Disease. He plays this character brilliantly. I am now a fan of Rose Byrne. I thought she was a natural. Liked her a lot. Rose plays Adam's neighbor who just moved into the building. Soon a friendly hello, turns into a friendship, and soon after a romantic relationship. But this is not your typical romance comedy. It is much more then that. The relationship between the two is very real and also very sweet. This movie opened my eye's to a disease that I have never heard of before, and taught me a little about it. This movie doesn't center on a romantic level of a romance movie, it's more of a relationship type movie. Just not on a romantic level, but with parents, friendships, and acquaintances. It shows the struggles Adam has to over come to lead a somewhat normal life. A touching film that I hope everyone gets a chance to see. |

| Undertow - R |
Jamie Bell, Devon Alan, Dermot Mulrony, Josh Lucas, Kristen Stewart
"Can I carve my name in your face?" David Gordon Green is surely becoming one of my favorite directors. I have read that they call his directing "Southern Gothic". I like it. His movie's are not predictable. Undertow is set in the South of Georgia, and its a dramatic thriller about two brothers, Chris and Tom, who are on the run from their greedy Uncle Deel after the death of their father. It's really sad. The youngest brother is ill and likes to eat odd things like paint and mudd. On their journey they come in contact with some characters that help them on their way. Really great performances from Devon Alan. He becomes the character, it's like he isn't even trying. Loved that, exspecially for him being so young. Jamie Bell is a favorite of mine. I thought he was amazing. Josh Lucas was really good. Seen a few of his movies lately and I really like his work acting. |

| The Messenger - R |
BEN FOSTER, WOODY HARRELSON, SAMANTHA MORTON, JENA MALONE, STEVE BUSCEMI
By far one of the best performances Ben Foster has given. I can't say enough how talented I think he is and how strong his presence is in any movie he is in. I am so tired of reading things about him being a "new comer". He has been in the game for awhile now, the only difference is people are just now noticing him. Loved him in ~The Hostage~ Birds Of America ~ and many others but let me get back to the movie at hand. =) The messenger is about a soldier named Will Montgomery, played by Ben Foster, a U.S. Army officer who has just returned home from Iraq. In returning he has been assigned to the Army's Casualty Notification service. He has been partnered with fellow officer Tony Stone, played by Woody Harrelson (who was great). Together they bring the bad news to the family members of the fallen soldiers. Will is struggling doing his job since he is to struggling with grief and guilt. He finds it hard trying to heal while bearing the bad news to those families of the fallen soldiers. On one of these missions of bad news is when he meets Olivia. He is there to tell her that her husband was killed but comes away with some sort of attachment to her. The movie has great performances from all. Very strong cast. I am a fan of most of them. But it would be really nice if these young actors would start getting noticed for their work. Like Ben Foster, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, or Ryan Goslin just to name a few. I think many young actors get looked over too many times. This is a film not many have heard of but should be seen by all. It makes you think about not only those out there who are receiving the bad news, but also of those "Messengers" who have to deliver it. Highly recommended... |

| The Ultimate Gift - PG |
Drew Fuller, Abigal Breslin, Ali Hillis, James Garner, Brian Dennehy, Bill Cobbs, Lee Meriwether
When his wealthy grandfather dies, trust fund baby Jason Stevens anticipates a big inheritance. Instead, his grandfather has devised a crash course on life with 12 tasks--or "gifts"--designed to challenge Jason in improbable ways, sending him on a journey of self-discovery and forcing him to determine what is most important in life: money or happiness. A great film about love, laughter, and grief. What life is all about really. A fun and sweet story with really great characters played very strongly by the actors. Got very caught up in the story very quickly. It's amazing when Hollywood puts out a clean movie that is not only good but also with great performances that keep you entertained. You feel for these characters because some of the story has affected one of us at one time in our lives or we know someone else who has dealt with it. So its very easy to connect with them. A great movie for the entire family. Not a lot of those out there unless they are animated or Disney related. But this one would be good for everyone. Probably could learn a lot from this film. Drew Fuller was great. Good seeing him doing something that he has a lead in so he can show how talented he is and that he has range. The acting from Abigal Breslin was amazing. Such a talented young girl who will go far in this business. I really liked Ali Hillis in this movie too. Thought she gave a great performance. This movie is going to have you laughing at one moment and then crying the next. A must see... |

| Marley & Me - PG |
Owen Wilson, Jennifer Aniston, Eric Dane, Nathan Gamble, Lucy Merriam, Finley Jacobsen
An ambitious young reporter, John Grogan, and his wife, Jenny, also a reporter, move to a Florida, buy a house and adopt a Labrador puppy they name Marley. Marley quickly becomes a rollicking force of nature in their lives. Loved this movie. Everyone said it would be sad and it was. Such a good movie though. Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson were great together. I liked them more together then anyone they have ever done movie's with. Just made the couple feel very real. Great chemistry. The kids at the end just breaks your heart. The dog was awesome. Such a beauty. The way Marley was in the movie is how my dog Mollee was. She was insane and knew no boundaries. But she was amazing, gorgeous and it's always sad when you loose that special friend. Great movie, well done, with great performances by all. Loved it. |

| Employee of the Month - R |
Matt Dillon, Steve Zahn, Christina Applegate, Dave Foley, Andrea Bendewald
Employee of the Month stars Matt Dillon as David Walsh, a hapless guy whose day seems to be getting more and more out of control. After getting his life straightened out with a job he loves at a bank and beautiful fiancée (Christina Applegate), David is convinced he's got it made. Unfortunately, things take a distinct turn for the worse when he is dumped and fired all in the same day. Enter David's best friend, Jack (Steve Zahn), an oddball who makes his living stealing from corpses. Jack is determined to help cheer up David, but when a bank robbery and a large sum of cash enter the picture, it begins to become apparent that the disastrous and madcap events have only just begun. The only thing that kept me watching this movie was Steve Zahn. Just a very slow movie for me. Didn't keep my attention. Acting was just OK. Steve Zahn was great as always though. The ending wasn't too bad. Definitely didn't expect it to end the way it did. So, the ending and Steve Zahn was the only good thing in this movie for me. Maybe watch it if you catch it on T.V. I don't even think it's worth the rental. |

| Management - R |
Jennifer Aniston, Steve Zahn, James Hiroyuki, Woody Harrelson, Margo Martindale, Fred Ward
A traveling art saleswoman tries to shake off a flaky motel manager who falls for her and won't leave her alone. I really liked it. Very different from other romance comedies I have seen. Steve Zahn is a favorite of mine, I think he's hilarious. He knows how to be funny without trying so hard. Thought the movie was little quirky and very sweet. Good little love story. |

| Defiance - R |
Four Jewish brothers escape from Nazi-occupied Poland into the Belarussian forest, where they join Russian resistance fighters and endeavor to build a village in order to protect themselves and others in danger.
Great performances all around in this movie. A true story that is heart breaking, and inspiring. Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, Jamie Bell, and George MacKay play four brothers who decided to fight back and live. Soon many came to join them and in doing so these four brothers saved many lives. You can't help but cheer on these brothers and feel inspired by what they did for their fellow people. These people are fighting for their lives, starving, questioning their faith, and wondering if they will turn into the animals they feel like, that are being hunted. I have watched a lot of movies I normally wouldn't watch and have been surprised by how much I have liked them. This is one of those movies. It's filled with heroism and bravery. Daniel Craig along with Liev Schreiber give great performances. Loved Jamie Bell in this movie. He is one my favorites, and it was good to see him in something like this. But my favorite performance came from Liev Schreiber. Probably the best performance I have seen from him. This is a must see for sure. |

| Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans - R |
Nicolas Cage, Shawn Hatosy, Val Kilmer, Eva Mendes, Xzibit
In Werner Herzog?s new film ?The Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans,? Nicolas Cage plays a rogue detective who is as devoted to his job as he is at scoring drugs -- while playing fast and loose with the law. He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun in order to get his way. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina he becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective reigning over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon. Complicating his tumultuous life is the prostitute he loves (played by Eva Mendes). Together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience. I am conflicted on how I feel after watching this movie. I guess it's never a good sign when you continuously check to see how much longer the movie has. But I didn't hate the movie either. Just seemed very long, and at times moving at a slow pace. Just seemed like it should have been more fast paced. But, when it did finally end, I do feel like it was a good movie. The whole two hours and one minute is worth sitting through because the ending is genius. Never put one together with the other. So the ending earned major points from me. Nicolas Cage.. What an actor.. He is pure brilliance in this movie. There is no one else that could have pulled this role off like him. There were also some actor's in this movie that I haven't seen in a film in awhile. Like Fairuza Balk and Shawn Hatosy. Eva Mendes character felt a little like her character in "We Own The Night". Or maybe she just portrayed them in the same light. But nothing spectacular there. Val Kilmer really didn't have a lot of screen time, but when he did he made himself known. So I guess my only negative comments is on the length of the movie, or more so the pace. Other then that, good movie and I definitely recommend it. |

| Grace Is Gone - PG-13 |
John Cusack, Shelan O'Keefe, Gracie Bednarczyk, Alessandro Nivola
A husband whose wife has just been killed in Iraq doesn't have the courage to tell his two young daughters that their mother has died, so instead he decides to take them on a road trip, not to just make it easier on the girls but to make it easier for himself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yes another story of another loved one being killed in Iraq. But this movie takes on a whole different story. This story is more of how it affects a family who has lost their mother/wife to a war that they sometimes question if they supported, or even understood. John Cusack is brilliant in this movie. Something very different from his past roles, and he does it justice. This movie is built by it's performances. No special affects, no nothing. Just the road and these great performances. There is a moment between Stanley and his brother that you can just feel the strong emotions reflecting off of them. You will shed some tears in this film, but its hard not to. These actors made you feel their characters pain. The two young girls were so good. So glad I found this movie. Heart breaking.. A MUST SEE... |

| Assassination of a High School President - R |
REESE THOMPSON, BRUCE WILLIS, MISCHA BARTON, LUKE GRIMES, MELONIE DIAZ, MICHAEL RAPAPORT
Forget it, Jake. It's...high school. With its noir roots, this stylish dark comedy pays homage to Roman Polanski's CHINATOWN. Reece Thompson (ROCKET SCIENCE) stars as a school newspaper writer who uncovers a conspiracy that is rampant among the students and teachers. Mischa Barton (THE O.C.) plays the young femme fatale, while Bruce Willis is an unhinged principal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Loved this movie. Had a lot of odd characters that were very hilarious. Something I will definitely be watching again. Bruce Willis was very funny as the Principle who has this huge annoyance with kids chewing gum during school hours, to the point were he will literally take it out of your mouth. I really don't care to much for Mischa Barton, but she wasn't to bad in this movie. First time seeing a movie with Reese Thompson. Thought he was great. Read some things about how this movie is like the film 'Brick'. I have seen Brick and so I would have to disagree. I can only see one resemblance to both movie's. I won't name what it is so I don't spoil either movie for anyone else. But besides that I don't see any other resemblance. Brick is more of a suspense drama, and this film is more a dark comedy. Neither one should be missed though. Both are great movies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bobby Funke Narrating: "You want to know the truth about high school? You've got to break it down into its elements. Unfortunately, at St. Donovan's, the periodic table is more crooked than a case of scoliosis. Just give me the chance and I'll set it all straight. Case in point, Spanish homework. "Dame un batido de esperma" does not mean, "Take me to the airport." It means, "Give me a sperm milkshake." And 22 kids gave that as an answer in Spanish 3 last week. I'm not sure about the milkshake, but somebody is sure feeding us something sticky. Every clique on campus is copying the same damn homework. Burn-outs, pretty boys, drama-dorks, jocks, debaters, player-haters, you name it. Oh, it's big, all right. And I'm on it like pink rubber bands on your little sister's braces. The name's Bobby Funke. I write for the paper." |
