As an actor, I find myself studying the wonderful character actors in this film: Russell Simpson as Pa, John Carradine as Casey, the incomparable Jane Darwell as Ma (heartbreaking), unforgettable John Qualen as Muley, and especially Charley Grapewin (better remembered as Uncle Henry in Wizard of Oz) giving the performance of his life as Grandpa. I go back to this time after time to watch the actors and Ford as director. One of my Top 5 favorites.
Wonderfully directed, acted, produced movie. Lamour and Hall are touchingly sweet and beautiful. The special effects are amazing considering this is 71 years old!
Strange, strange wacky movie ... which was O&J's style. It's been in public domain for so long that it's practically impossible to find a decent quality release. Someone needs to restore this one.
Amazing, fascinating, touching and funny ... thank God for Rick McKay for these priceless interviews! I can hardly wait for the sequels! A must for all actors and theatre lovers.
