The Nightmare Before Christmas
Love the soundtrack (by Danny Elfman), animation and Mr Jack Skullington -the pumpkin king of Halloweenland. I caught the 3D version while I was in NYC last Halloween and my, just sweet!

A tragic horror movie in its own league. It's sick and sad - a bittersweet symphony.

La Vie en Rose (La Mome)
Marion Cotillard - she is just brilliant in this movie. She breathed life into Edith Piaf's role! Scary as it is impressive, a turbulent life as that of Edith's just wrenches your heart out.
19
Jet Li's Fearless (Huo Yuan Jia) (Legend of a Fighter) (2006,  PG-13)

Alice in den Städten (Alice in the Cities) (1974,  Unrated)
Alice in den Städten (Alice in the Cities)
This is the first of the road movies that became part of the unoffical trilogy. (the 2 others: The Wrong Road & Kings of the Road)

The movie reflects on the influences of American pop culture on postwar Europe. Probably the love & hate tension and then coming to terms with it as well.

In B & W, there is a feel of dreaminess about it, the journey of self discovery - the denial and then admittance...

Will definitely check out the other 2 road movies if possible!

La Finestra di fronte (Facing Windows) (2004,  R)
La Finestra di fronte (Facing Windows)
Having a chance to look at your life through another window and actually realise that the life you had not been happy with is actually not that bad. In fact, even though painful and despaired, fortunate in its own way.

The many loves we encounter in our lives, the phase when we need to prove to others our worth and sacrificing something in return.

Love how the themes are brought up in a subtle way...

Brilliant movie :)
