Director William A. Wellman made films that were a little different than the rest. He brought us 'Beau Gest', 'The Iron Curtain', 'Battleground' and 'The Next Voice you hear,,,'. This film is very dark for a western. It was released in 1943 during the height of WWII which must have been distracting from it's intent which was certainly more thn to entertain. Heny Fonda is excellent along with Dana Andrews.
This one of Howard hawks Best films and certainly his best western. It rivals John Ford's 'The Searchers' but John Wayne gives a better more memorable performance.
From director William A. Wellman whose films always seemed a little different from the rest. He brought us 'Beau Gest', 'Battleground' and 'The Next Voice You Hear,,,' The Ox-Bow Incident is a very dark film released in 1943 during the height of WWII which must have been distracting to the intent and meaning of this film.. Henry Fonda was outstanding in this film.
This is an epic film and story. The story is good and the script outstanding. John Ford made some of the greatest westerns of all time and here he managed to make one of the greatest films of all time!
This is a great film, western or not! Lee marvin is outstanding! John Wayne is at his best as John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart is excellent in between the two. Vera Miles rises to the occation and puts in a great performance. I should not overlook Andy Devine and Edmund O'Brian of this all star cast in what I consider one of John Fords best films.
Well, I was disappointed in this. The creep factor was OK but the story sucked. I think they had a good idea but just failed to implement it. Oh, and what ever you're thinking about the title, for get it!
What can I say? It's Quentin Tarantino! Almost everyone dies a violent bloody death. I must say however that in this age of re-makes, re-boots and general lack of creativity, this movie is refreshing. I hope Tarantino keeps breaking the rules and remains one of the few creative minds in Hollywood.
This is a typical Sci Fi film in some ways. Everyone seems to have something different to say about it. I suppose I should just say that it is fun and interesting to watch. I recommend watching the director interview in the DVD extras for more insight into the intent of this film.
After falling asleep three times trying to watch this, (on separate occasions), I finally gave up. Even though this had all the makings and fixins for a good movie for all ages, I think it is just for kids.
I thought this was an excellent film. A little different form what you expect but they warn you at the beginning. It's a great story told in an interesting way. You have to really pay attention. I enjoyed this!
I don't know if it was the boring script, awkward screenplay or just bad editing, this one failed to capture the life and times of John Dillinger. It's a real woulda, coulda, shoulda film with great actors in a bad movie that barely salvage the project. It was boring but I made it through thinking it would get better.
I was disappointed in this even when I didn't expect much. I think Will Ferrel is great however so I give him a pass. I still won't be adding this one to my DVD collection.
I suppose it was a better movie than 'The Da Vinci Code' but it seemed to move a little slower. Of coarse I though the book did too. Not quite as titillating as it's prequel yet still fun and interesting to watch.
